not such a good day

well the evening was good, starting at about 5pm. snevman came and got me at the riviera, we went to tx station, after originally planning on going to the aliente, but i lost about $120 more there and i was already stuck over $200 as it was. (the $400 i wasted at terribles between VP and BJ live tables) and i asked and yes security seen them cutting my lock and stealing my bike on camera at 9.50pm. sad news is herbie goes home sunday. only place i won at all day was the riviera, got back about $200 there flopping 2 sets.

also ive won tiny bit on feltstars since vook sent me that last $22 i bought for $20. also snevman and i went to buy food tonight after leaving tx station, i spent about $30, and hes going back to europe at 6am on a plane. really pissed off i have no way to get around anymore. am living in a horrible location not to have a bike, and if i cant buy clippers i sure cant buy another bike just to let it get stolen again.

i tried to play at the hardrock early on, but didnt want to wait around since they wouldnt start a new game 5 handed. and said they wanted to wait til 7 were on the list to start a 2nd table. so i left, walked to terribles, was going to take a bus to sams town. instead i starting playing and got stuck $132 on VP, and then lost the rest on a $10 table two decks live game. final hand was a +6 running count about 1 and 1/4th of the deck into a 2 deck game where they shuffle at about 65% and id raised the bet to $75 trying to get some of it back. and of course lost. im betting way too high for a small roll, thats why i prefer not playing live tables instead as some have suggested opposed to the machine. but the money i lost at VP was just dumb.

and i must sleep, cant miss the 4pm tourny

  1. You could have bought a really nice bike and a really strong lock for the $400 you lost playing stupid -EV games at Terribles, and still had enough left over for a really nice pair of nail clippers.

But I guess you have different priorities.

  2. I find it funny that someone stole your bike. Did they steal other bikes? Your bike is a 50 dollar bike. Maybe they're one of your readers!

  3. What did he/she look like? The person that stole your bike?

Did the security camera get a good image?

It was nice so Snevman to spend some time with you and drive you around. He's a good bloke.

  4. Tony are you at least having fun blowing your money away playing VBJ and VP. Dude wake up and smell the roses before its to late if its not to late already.

  5. Counting cards on a real table has been proven to work.

Counting cards on a VBJ machine (which you prefer) requires that you have credible and accurate information on when the machine shuffles. I don't have this information, and don't know of anyone who would does. But if you do, good luck to you, but personally I'd stick to counting on a real game.

As for your bike.. it wouldn't surprise me if it was someone who reads your blog stealing it to fuck with you. Why else would someone go out of their way to cut a lock to steal a $30 bike?

  6. I wouldn't be surprised if Security paid someone to steal his bike, after he yelled at them for doing their job in the first place.

Tony, try to stay focused and play the best poker u can, it is the only real chance of digging yourself out of this. I am still staying focused (for the most part), and have added 3 more winning sessions in the last 2 days. Best of all, 21 days no VBJ/BJ/VP.

  7. Tony, why the heck are you posting in your forum, when u have already closed it off? Make up your mind.

    p.s. This format sucks

  8. You're definitely getting less traffic on this format.

You had your forum open for around 100 days (and it started off slow), and got an average of 30 posts a day or so (and that's not even counting the hundreds of posts that got deleted). Since you moved it back here, you got 27 posts, 7 posts, and so far 7 posts on this one on your daily report. And you got 1500 page views / day or so on the proboards, I don't think you're getting anywhere near that here.

  9. Tony, hope you did well in the freerole. I had a pretty good day myself, another winning session. That makes 13 consecutive winning sessions (10 days).

Question for you Tony. If you could have the choice or 10 winning days in a row from playing poker, or the same winning streak from playing BJ, which would you choose?

    1. What do you mean by saving time and play a game you enjoy more?

What do you mean you didn't bust out, but then you said you busted out before 10th place? I am totally confused by what you wrote here.

  11. His punctuation is a little fucked up, here's what i think he meant:

You said "hope you did well in the freeroll"

    His reponse:

No, I didn't. I busted out. 14 of us were in it.

    That should make sense now

  12. You talked about a blog being for your growth amd benefit (whatever that means) yet this format is a big step backwards.

  13. i meant playing VBJ instead of poker, (its without having to deal with people) kind of like playing online, which i prefer to live poker since im alone.

  14. didn't you already try counting cards at VBJ?

And it didn't go very well...

    1. wasnt properly varying the bet by the count, but whether id won or lost the last hand. never really gave counting an adequate test, maybe because im scared of the results

  15. If you're going to count cards you really need to vary the bet by the count, it's not that hard.

And if you're going to do it at VBJ (which I wouldn't), you better be SURE of the shuffle point

  16. the VBJ, as opposed to the table BJ (which cost me $300 at hardrock which still has me really bad off) has a $1 min in this casino. which really helps. my max bet at $2200 should be $11, one 200th of the roll. so i can get a $1-11 spread. the min bet at terribles at the table was $10 and the $10-75 spread was breaking me fast. on a shoe u are supposed to have a 1-16 unit spread.

  17. "my max bet at $2200 should be $11, one 200th of the roll."

No, your max bet should be $0.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Actually your max bet is in relation to the edge.

A good rule of thumb is to bet 1% of your roll for every 1% of an edge you have. So at a +3 count you have a 1% edge, you can bet $22, at a +5 count you have a 2% edge so you can bet $44.

That's actually called kelly betting. Yes, it's advisable to play conservatively and bet less then that, but for your situation if you play too conservatively there's no chance you're going to keep up with living expenses.

And are you SURE that card counting works on VBJ? Because I have some serious doubts about that.

  19. Not claiming I can get an accurate true count. But from the running count, I can tell when the deck favors me

      Ding Ding Ding

This quote = guaranteed loser at BlackJack no matter what format. BJ counting is an "exact science". It is slight edges over the LONG-TERM, but the MUST involved is a true proper count at all times. Not an idea when the deck favors you.

This is why you will always be a long-term loser playing BJ, I have seen for many years (and told you) you are doing it wrong.

You have never divulged what system you are using, or the count type, so likely it is some simpleton method that skews the results even more to the negative.

But keep doing it your way and stay broke....
