I need to exercise better game selection, and plan my hours out better, would help to keep me off machines too

Since im way too broke still to play NL (all of which is my own fault for not staying off the machines) i need to better utilize my time to play in the best games suited for my bankroll, and the best promotions for someone whose broke. which means i shouldnt be waking up at 7am, and should be getting up about 11am, and also i shouldve played in the samstown omaha8 game. (actually i should try the orleans and suncoast games too). Roll is $1700 and the other day before paying the rent it was $2100. and about $200 was lost on the VP machines. should get back a little over $100 in the samstown freeroll feb 10 on my birthday. (its usually chopped up early).

also might need to do the cannery freeroll, but id have to get in 30 hours in a shitty $2-4 game, but if i could get the $500 chop there when the tourny ends at 10 players, that would radically increase my hourly break even rate. sometimes only 15 people in the am freeroll and about 30-40 people in the PM freeroll, and u can qualify for both depending on what hours u get. (2 seperate 30 hours periods). thats the 2nd saturday of every month.

i need to learn how to make the money in freerolls better in spite of the collusion so rampant in these, and theres also other freerolls to hit up. all i know is i should avoid waking up the wrong hours, avoid playing stud at samstown (almost always lose) and waiting forever for a seat, which is when i find myself wasting time and getting stuck heavily on a machine. also i found out the skyline once had one of those vbj machines, but removed it quite a long time back. im so broke, after getting moms package, and playing the freeroll, i might need to move back out of town, i cannot afford my rent anymore. at one point i was up to $2400 about the time i got the bike.

no idea what ever became of donkeytax, but at least lightning will be around this weekend, probably without a car. id pay for a rental if i wasnt near as broke as i am. someday when i have money i need to give it to someone to buy a motorhome for me, then drive it for me and park it for me. Thats what a guy needs a woman for, to make a horrible place to live into a nice home. im running out of options to keep on paying my rent, i dont have things to sell anymore like comps, airline tickets, lock poker money etc. and i dont believe for a second anyone is waiting to stake me, certainly not steve zolotov as someone claimed they would talk it over with him whose renting a house from him.

  1. Tony, I can stake you somewhere near sam's town on Feb 9th if you're interested.

Railing you for the tourney is well worth the 100 bucks

  2. Does your inability to do most things on your own ever bother you? Wasn't the pride you felt at getting all your chores done the other day enjoyable? Don't you want to be able to do whatever you want whenever you want to do it?

And anyone who tells you they could get a poker pro to stake you is just fucking with you. Don't even acknowledge it.

  3. Tony, I'm willing to help you out with several thousand dollars a year.

    1. All you need to do to get the thousands of dollars a year I want you to have is: STOP PLAYING MACHINES!

If you follow the above advice, you will have a way bigger bankroll which would equal me staking you several thousands of dollars a year.

You might have some problems starting this out. I was trying to think of ways to help. What if you got tattoos on the back of both hands that said: MACHINES on them and had a red circle with a slash through them? This would be a good reminder to you.

If you got these tattoos on your hands, post a photo and post the receipt, we will reimburse you the costs of those tattoos.

Obviously you can devise your own strategy for avoiding machines. But if you succeed, you will have several thousand more dollars each year and you won't be stressed out as much.

Do you want several thousand extra dollars each year? Please reply with either a "YES" or a "NO".

    2. Your question isn't realistic. Not playing machines prevents martingaling. Martingaling lets tony have more winning days. He cares more about winning days than total win.

    3. I already never play machines.
So, I'll.vote Yes for shits n giggles

    5. Do you ever feel any shame towards your total inability to stop yourself from doing something you know you shouldn't do?

And are you ever going to answer my question? Why do you feel you deserve love and respect and equality as a mentally disabled man but a physicality disabled woman doesn't deserve the same?

  4. Tony,

I'm in las vegas Feb 25 (mon). I'll stake you in the Orleans Omaha 8/b at noon. I want a 75/25 split. (I'm 75). You would have to get your own transport there. Let me know.

Chance at free money. If you cash, I'll stake you in the Omaha 8b at the Suncoast that night.

    1. How about walking? Tony plays poker what, 4-6 hrs a day? Tops? He could walk for 90 minutes each way to and from the casino and be far, far, far better for it.

Buses and bikes are for people with money.

    2. If Tony can prove he's averaged 28 hours of poker/week for the last 52 weeks I'll snap send him $10,000 in genuine American dollars.

    3. im sure i have, but how do u prove it? of course the month i played no poker would bring the average way down.

    4. Yes, TBC, the month you were a VBJ pro would definitely hurt your quest to put in the equivalent hours of even a part-time job at the poker tables over the last year.

That was kind of my point. You keep putting in part-time effort at poker but demand full-time pay.

  7. Have you ever considered worrying less about the time of day you're playing and more about learning how to play better poker?

I imagine that if you put Stuey into a game at any time of the day he would show a profit in the long run. I highly doubt that at any point Stuey blamed a lack of poker profits on his sleep schedule.

One thing I've noticed is that you've pretty much stopped posting any hands at all or asking for feedback. Did you solve poker and figure it all out? Do instinct players like you and Stuey not need to learn and improve like the rest of us?

A proposition: If you post one hand every day in February (starting February 2) from your poker play, I'll send you $25 via PayPal on March 1.

You can play machines all you want and ignore the feedback like you always do. All you have to do to make an easy $25 is post one hand of poker you've played every day from tomorrow until the end of February.

And before you blow it off as not worth your time, keep in mind that $25 is about 1.5% of your entire net worth (which for some people would be $10,000 or more) so it's actually not chump change for you right now.

    1. Does he have to post relevant information? Like stack sizes, position, etc.

I mean, there's 0% chance he could do that.

      Delete
    2. He just has to make the same effort he did in the past when he'd frequently post hands he'd played.

We'll never get accurate stack sizes and positions out of him so that's not a requirement. Just looking for the same basic effort he put out there in the past.

    4. When do you ever follow through with any of your outlandish claims or bodacious bragging predictions?

      Delete
    5. Times I've promised you something and not followed through: zero.

Times you've promised readers something and not followed through: too many to count.

Post a poker hand a day and I'll send you the money.

Worst case scenario for you is that you get back into the habit of posting and thinking about poker. That should be worth way more than $25 in the long run to you.

Here's another way of looking at it. If I didn't pay you and disappeared, you'd have gotten rid of me by doing nothing more than posting a poker hand a day. Isn't that a great deal to get rid of me for forever?

  8. As far as needing to exercise better, here's a super simple one that doesn't require equipment, just a chair. Maybe some other people can chime in as well with their favorite exercises as well.

    Chair Crunches

    Muscles worked: abdominals

Starting point: Seated, back straight, arms at sides, hands gripping the bottom of the chair, feet flat on the floor, knees bent and over toes, legs pressed together.

Action: Lift your knees straight up, keeping the bottom of your feet parallel to the ground. Exhale while you lift your knees, and inhale as you bring your feet back down to the floor. Complete one1 set of 10–-12 repetitions.

Tip: For extra workout points, keep your back off the backrest, and do not lean heavily on your arms.

    Time: Aim for 4 minutes.

  9. spent the evening at samstown since i couldnt spend the night with grump before he leaves to be with his girlfriend. sat there from 11am to 11pm. my high hand only got 2nd but overall i ended up $301 ahead, roll is back to $2000 and im happy. late after 10pm, 5 players took overs NL buttons, and i didnt want to risk it, because i had a huge percentage of my roll on the table. lightning is coming in sunday. wanted him to hang out at palms with grump, its an easy bus ride, and i could kill 2 birds with one stone, but he wants to hangout at mirage for some weird reason instead during the superbowl game.

a great way to keep me off VP is to get me a seat immediately upon arrival, and then to put in so many hours i leave so dead tired i dont want to do nothing but sleep, be ahead, and then i sure dont want to play any VP.

and here is a hand history post. I;ve not been posting hands because no one plays $2-6 spread, so no one will be familiar with the game.

Tonights promotion was the top 3 full houses paid $150, $100, and $50 between 4pm and 10pm, making aaakk the nuts. u had to stay til 10 to get paid, which i did. i got dealt AJ offsuit and limped in EP. in limit games stack sizes are meaningless unless someone will be allin, which wasnt happening. i think 4 or 5 of us seen the flop for $2. flop comes AJ5 and we all check, i dont like the possible flush draw, but i want that hi hand money if i make the boat. turn comes 9 offsuit, and guy in EP or BB bets $4. i decide to make it $10 because the game was loose, and i didnt want to let the flush draws off the hook, and i thought id get called anyway, and now im down to only 1 card left to come. everyone drops to the initial better, and he makes it $16 and i think oh shit, hes got 555. i call, river comes beautiful A. he bets $6, i bet $12, he calls with JT, and i find out that he misread his hand and thought he had 3 jacks.

    1. Why'd you limp with AJo instead of betting more? Were you already hoping you might hit that high hand jackpot if you boated up and wanted more people in the hand?

You flop top two on a scary board with a lot of folks in there and you just check, because you want a shot at that high hand money.

I'm assuming you calculated your odds of boating up and potential winnings + potential high hand money + and weighed that against simply taking the pot down right there? What are the odds that you'll boat up with two pair on the flop? What are the odds that you'll specifically draw to AAAJJ with two cards to come? (Which you'd probably need to win any high hand money as opposed to JJJAA).

Did you factor in that it was a loose game, so betting on the flop might juice up the pot some, especially if people were chasing draws?

Seems like this is another of those cases when you're chasing high hand money and leaving a lot of chips on the table if you'd instead just played your hand as you normally would.

The turn is a blank and finally you start getting some money in there. Nothing wrong with that. What were your odds of hitting that beautiful ace on the river, with just one card to come?

    2. Tony, 5 people in a spread limit game with a number of possible draws on the flop, and you check???? You are leaving a lot of money on the table there. And you reasoning for checking is terrible, you only had 2 outs to hit the boat. You will hit the boat less than 10% of the time. If you bet, you can easily win many time more than the high hand jackpot by charging people for their draws.

    3. Lightning's reason for wanting to spend Sunday at the Mirage is not weird at all. They're giving away a ton of money before, during, and after the big game. If I could spend all day at it, I'd probably be there, too. But I've got too much to get done to put in 8-12 hours at the tables. One won't be able to get a seat at the Mirage unless one is there about 5 hours before kickoff. So that's out for me. I have almost $400 in Palms chips, I've been collecting them for years, but couldn't find a buyer, so I'll just use them as buy-ins.

    4. both pokerdogg and theblackpimp are probably right, but then why does the entire fucking table always say u shouldnt bet, and check for the jackpots? everyone at the table always says that, its only NL players who think differently.

    5. Because, Tony, most people are stupid and don't understand how to make money at poker. Is this a new insight for you?

If you consider yourself so much smarter than most other people, and so much a better poker player than most opponents, why do you give credence to the things they tell you?

      Delete
    6. i dont know, maybe because my blog readers think im stubborn and dont listen to others enough, and at times i wonder if maybe they are right.

    7. Most of the value for you in promos like that high hand payout or aces cracked isn't from hitting a high hand or getting your aces cracked; it's from sitting with idiots that play hands incorrectly due to the promos.

Seriously. Read that again. If you stick to your game and just ignore the promos, you'll make more from the mistakes other people make when checking hands like AJ on that flop than you will from actually hitting a high hand.

It's not a NL/limit thing. It's about how terrible most players are who are grinding out hours in a $2-6 spread limit game hoping and praying they win a $150 high hand payout.

Getting dealt a qualifying high hand or not getting a high hand is 100% luck. You're all equally likely to hit it or not hit it. Just ignore it and play poker and let them do stupid shit.

      Delete
    8. almost all the value in aces cracked is from getting dealt AA, except for maybe in NL. no $2-4 fixed limit game is beatable without it, or without a freeroll adding like $15 an hour in value.

the difference in the others play makes the game more difficult to beat not less, for when they check u assume u must be good, only to bet and later find out they are slowplaying aa. u dont gain from their mistakes, u lose because u are always misreading their hand due to the promo.

u dont realize this, because up there in cali where u live, they dont have aa cracked promos.

      Delete
    9. Aces cracked is and always will be stupid. Trying to have them cracked is -EV when compared to just playing them to win.
