worries

new roll $1735, quite disappointed none of my 64 tickets won any of the 10 drawings, considering there werent as many tickets in the drum as i thought and were less than 5000. i lost quite a bit better more than i normally would, although it was a good idea in the longrun, considering the tickets were on average worth $1 each, increasing my EV by about 1%. i dont think i went about it the proper way though. shouldve bet less at some times i bet way too much, and more at others, i played it in such a way as to make the variance a lot more than it needed to be.

And ive already known this, but im not getting no more money from Andy, and of course still no money on seals, nor do i know who i can buy from. never set up an acct. and my phones past due, might as well cut it off. dont need it since ive given up on getting assistance, too much hassle and gas money i dont have.

am really praying i dont go broke here and am worried about it, considering i thought i was doing well when over $2200, but now have so little. And on Monday i can check back in and rent a room in my name, but i think theyre sold out soon on an upcoming weekend, so thats another big issue looming. and i have very few shirts left. got over $235 in comps though.

i still dont have anywhere nearly enough to play poker, not even omaha8. when i have a $2100 bankroll thats only a $100 poker bankroll, the rest is living expenses. only with 4000 do i have a 2000 poker bankroll, and thats when i want to play poker and id still not be able to buyin over $100. im not like all u young guys, im too old to be broke starting from scratch and going bust not being a big deal. it wasnt when i was in my 20s. Yes, im in a very high variance situation, but not quite as much so as if i went into vegas and tried to play poker (because of the extra housing costs) so i might as well stay here.

i keep thinking there shouldve been a way to get more tickets without too much risk but not sure of the best way that wouldve been. i also dont feel i took advantage of that lucky club promo a year or so ago the best way either. i did find out, from facebook oddly enough, when i won the drawing it laughlin. looks like feb 26 2011, id have guessed further back. so now i can try to find it on an old blog if it exists

    WORST
    DECISION
    EVER

I guess your future isn't worth the "hassle" and gas money (which is free, since you have comps). You are displaying extraordinarily bad decision making skills, Tony.

  2. So to get tickets you risked more of your money and as as result had a nearly $600 drop?

    WTF Tony.

And you have "Given up on assistance" because it's too much of a hassle?
It's too much of a hassle to get your life in order?
It's too much of a hassle to remove some of the stress so that you don't have to worry so much and drive yourself to an early heart attack?

    3. i did, and thats why they denied me and want all these income statements, some are possible to get, some arent. no one who gambles can really get any assistance without lying, which is why i never bother applying.

    4. You're a losing player though, so you should still be able to qualify. Wait, you don't keep accurate records...

    5. I find it hard to believe that the guy who is down $15k in the last year can't get social assistance. Try harder

  3. So wait, now all of a sudden you're trying to segregate your roll and living expenses accounts when you can't afford it?

Shouldn't that mean you have a -265 roll for VBJ?

For the drawing.. if you kept it to yourself instead of posting it publicly you would've had better odds of winning. I doubt the guy who advertised it all over RTP and the internet knew about it until he read YOUR post about it...

As for the phone, I recommend you square up the bill ASAP. Don't you use your phone ALL THE TIME? You don't want to end up cut off from all your friends, and there's other things you may need to make phone calls for. If you let them cut it off, you're going to end up having to pay all kinds of fees (and the overdue bill) to get your service reconnected.

    1. so am i supposed to seperate the rolls or not? i did try to and as u see below, pokerdogg then posted WTF? i never made a post about it til lollerskates brought it up. why did everyone say to cut off the phone a month ago, and now all of a sudden everyone is saying no dont do that, u need to keep it. the reason lollerskates found out was reading my PMs on andys wall, although i didnt know that site didnt allow PMs and that anyone can look at someones profiles and read their messages. no one wouldve known that.

    2. It is a good idea to have a seperate BR from living expenses, but when you have $2100, it makes no sense to reserve $2000 for living expenses and $100 for working capital. It seems more like a justification for not playing poker (and stay in Jean) then a serious effort in BR management.

If you are serious about keeping a seperate BR, then you have the same amount to play with, whether it is VBJ or poker. How is $1 max bet going to work for you in Jean?

  5. Which part is too much of a hassle Tony? Spending the time on it when you have nothing you have to do and nowhere you have to be? Or going the 25 miles you would get to on time any day of any week of month of any year if you were qualified for a freeroll?

    ReplyDelete

    1. the real issue is the enormous stress of worrying about getting into trouble, its just not worth it. i dont qualify because i earn too much gambling. and of course, id let the freeroll go had it not always been a chop well over $100 every month prior. sickcallmggee charges way too much for gas to make it worthwhile. and now he cant no longer help with getting money in and out of seals with cubs.

    2. Tony,

You are below $2,000 and have a disablity that enables you to qualify for SSI. However, you are too lazy to go through the process and obtain it. Yet, you feel you are going to get into trouble? NO!

And by the way, you are NOT EARNING ANY MONEY gambling. Face reality. Even if you were earning money gambling, you will not get into trouble if you earn money over the $2,000 limit. The $2,000 threshold is an eligibility requirment in order for you to apply. The Social Security Act permits you to earn income while under SSI, even if its income from gambling. The Social Security Administration is not going to "come after you" if you are earning money after you are replaced on SSI.

Your laziness (as we all know) will be your downfall. While my first suggestion would be to go obtain a part-time job, we all know that will never happen. Hence, SSI is your best option, but you are choosing to ignore it because of the "hassle." If anything, you could get on SSI for six months and give you the extra support you kneed to (a) move back to Vegas; (b) get a reasonable place to live; and (c) allow you to build your roll back up. However, you would rather stay in Jean and play a machine that easily could be removed from the casino any day. Not a good plan.

Go get on SSI Tony. It's your only hope. Quit being one of those "lazy" Americans that you harp on all the time. You have an out so take it. Quit standing on this over contrived principal of yours that says that you should not take assistance and your ongoing fear that the gov't is going to come after you. Continuing to stand on this principal and feers will get you nothing but a one-way trip to living on the beach in Southern California as a bum.

      My 2cents.

    1. Actually, him trying to get SSI and whatever is pretty much a waste of his time.

He doesn't keep records, and that kind of thing is basically an automatic to get denied.

If you saw his post about this (I forget where it was), essentially the SSI office wanted him to explain the transactions on his bank statement, which he cannot do because he doesn't keep accurate records of things. And the fact he never kept records of his gambling or filed tax returns for it is also going to lead to getting denied because he can't prove his income is less then what's required.

      Delete
    2. to be honest it was the COUNTY welfare that wanted that, due to all the questions they had about all the numerous transactions on my bank statement, and that im staying at the goldstrike. ssi back in KS, i also had no records, so they just let it go and considered me as having no income while i lived at moms waiting to be approved about 18 months. i agree trying to get welfare is pointless, thats why welfare suggested i check out desert springs and their sliding scale. they said if i go thru clark county, its only a medical card for UMC and its not for psych or emotional help, although they did admit a regular neurologist can help with autism. finding a pro-bono doctor some other method whose willing to help, or for a much lower cost, is far more valuable. there should be a way a dr will help me without worrying about getting paid

    3. So a doctor should help you (aka do his job, or otherwise work ) for free, but you're too good to get a job yourself? So you're more important than a doctor now?

  9. Trying to get SSI, CC Medical, Housing assistance, Snap benefits, etc is a hassle. Sometimes you wonder if the people you are dealing with are retarded, but it is worth it. Calculate your hourly earnings from spending 5 hours at the welfare office and getting $1200 in food stamps. I have helped family and friends through the paper work several times. If you qualify for SNAP you automatically qualify for a free cell phone with free monthly minutes loaded on it. This sounds perfect for you. If you need any advice from someone very familiar with the system, I'll be glad to through my 2 cents around.

    1. $1200? food stamps arent nearly that. thats a different welfare office, i was at the county. the state tried to call me, but got a message my phone isnt in service, which isnt yet true, no idea why. so they thought i had no way to be reached. one thing they will not do is help me without a casino win loss statement. they said i must bring that back from the goldstrike. and i dont really want that type of phone, i had one before not thru the govt and i hated paying per usage instead of unlimited everything ended up costing MORE. i send about 1200 texts a month. (looked it up). besides if i cut the contract legally by suspending it one month, im still liable for $90 a month after that is over, or a $300 termination fee, (more than what i owe for the rest of the contract)

      Delete
    2. Everyone I have helped get foodstamps have been given $200 a month for 6 months then they have to re apply. Welfare office is 100 times easier to work with then CC social services. When I got my dad's he didn't have to show anything other then income statement. Your Win/loss should be fine. We went in on a Tuesday at 7am, and he had a card in his hand by 1pm. The medical card is very worth it, takes the risk of getting sick and ending up with a 5 digit ER bill. CCSS helped me when I moved out here by paying rent for 3 months. It can be overwhelming, but if you work it you can use the system to take some of the burden off your roll while you try to build it.

  10. Tony, what is the point of counting on the vbj machine, when all you end up doing is ignoring the count whatever it may be, and you end up Martingaling or upping your bets to try and win some extra promotion tickets? The odds of you actually getting one of your promotion tickets drawn as opposed to what you have invested is not a winning proposition.

By my reckoning you lost a bit over $600 to try and win $500. Can't you see that there is something wrong there? If you are going to get involved with these promotions, you need to just accept what comes along without chasing the extras. Then if you do happen to get lucky, consider that a bonus, to add to the roll you have not lost because, you did not chase the promotion tickets. Just a thought.......

    1. who said anything about ignoring the count? it always tells me how to play hands like 16v10 12v3, etc. i wasnt raising them bets on negative counts, only on the plus counts i sometimes bet a little higher than i shouldve late into the shoe. and even with a sort of martingale on a plus count i dont start over at $1 i start over with the correct bet for the count. (the only real martingaling was on the number of spots, not so much the betting amounts). remember the AP players on RTP who know what they are talking about said each ticket was worth like 1%. and im only like $400+ worse off than i was before, and i was due for a loss anyway. i actually didnt do the promo right, Chaperone was right, still waiting for him to say the exact way he thinks i shouldve bet the promo.

      Delete
    2. Tony i have said it more than once, the only winner in a promo is the casino, yes promos add value to every ticket but at what cost. Gambling for comps or promos is a losing bet every single time.

they are definitely the same guy there sure wouldnt be 2 guys both in NYC. and does anyone believe that stake story on RTP? i sure dont remember it. if its true, im sure i thought he was trying to scam me, by staking me then asking for it back when i lost. i always play my best even when tired and having a bad day, and yes i do play a lot more loose aggressive when its not my money. and in my opinion thats playing better. people get stakes so they can play looser, and focus on making the best play instead of worrying they might lose the money. a staker should be proud i play his money that way, because it improves his odds. if u dont understand that, u hould give up poker.

      Which looks like a business

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Simpsons_house
Could be a simpsons reference to the simpsons home address

    2. The system is there for people who need it. No one should make you feel bad/guilty for using it. One of the privileges/responsibilities of living in a first world country is that a social safety net is in place. If you are doing well, you should be happy to pay in, if not, you shouldn't feel bad about taking advantage of it.

  15. "seattle irish insists i should get it, not even caring how much it will make others hate me for getting money from the taxpayers."

You're exactly right, Tony. 100% correct! I do not care that you receiving the government benefits to which you're entitled may cause some people to hate you. I do not give two shits if other people hate you because you accepted those benefits. The FAR bigger question is why YOU would care that others may hate you for getting them. The people you are concerned about are random message board posters - why would you care what they think?

That said, if you would prefer to be homeless and begging on the street (again), to having a few random message board posters, whom you've never met, post mean things....then that's your call.

You decision making is not rational:

"I would rather be sleeping on the streets again, panhandling for food and cash for gambling. then having people I've never met POTENTIALLY write mean things about me. My self-image is so undefined that I would rather put myself at a much greater risk of violent death on the streets then run the risk of reading some random stranger's post of mean things about me on a message board."

You have choices in this world, Tony. Your god has given you the gift of free will. You can choose to be homeless again.

  16. People here and on Roughing the Punter have been very good to Tony and have made some positive changes. I don’t understand the nastiness of some of the trolls. I can’t imagine that the trolls would want to live day to day on $500 comps per month which require hours each day on a video poker machine to earn with a total of $1,700.00 as a backup, uncertain of whether or not you are going to eek out enough to pay the rest of your bills.
Let’s review, Tony’s bankroll was created by a Social Security lump sum payment and a jackpot. Tony got kicked off of Social Security, likely for not reporting the Jackpot.
Tony’s roll has never gone anything but steadily down. Whether by poor decision making or lack of gambling skill it has always gone down. The bad decisions can’t be undone so continuing to berate him for them seems pretty futile.
The constant harping he should get a job is also pointless. Tony is not employable. Tony has a felony conviction and a diagnosis somewhere on the Autism Spectrum. Employers in this market do not have to hire felons and don’t. Employers certainly don’t have to hire someone who has an obvious personality disorder, and don’t. Does anyone honestly think he would interview well?
As a result of his mental health issues Tony is a concrete thinker. He only has the ability to think about things in a ‘now’ timeframe. Long term planning is not within his ability to process. He has the life management and interpersonal skills of a child and very few coping mechanisms. He wants what he wants now and cannot process a multi-step plan which spans over time to achieve his goals. Haven’t you noticed that there is no long term planning or even any comments which would indicate long term planning?
Tony does marginally well playing video blackjack because he has been given some bright line rules to follow. He didn’t do well with the promotion because that involved change and required a fluidity of thought he just can’t do.
To the kind person who offered to get Tony an apartment with the bitcoin mining Tony should have thanked him for his kind offer before throwing up the roadblocks which are sure to come. It would have to be on a bus line and in a safe neighborhood. But in reality Tony can’t/won’t leave Jean, because his bankroll is not big enough to allow him to play poker at the places where he is still allowed to play. Also in looking at the number of times he has gotten a room/apartment the sub textual issues are that he has a hard time taking care of the day to day chores including grocery shopping, cleaning, and laundry. Each time he has had an apartment he has left behind most everything he has purchased for the apartment including linens, pots and pans and in some cases microwaves. It is much easier for him to live in a hotel where he does not have to deal with many of those issues.

They don’t have to let him stay there and I can’t believe that he is the kind of guest that they seek out. While you sit warm and well fed behind your computer wherever you are I hope it makes you feel good to endanger the housing of a guy with $1,700.00 to his name, because seriously you are slime.
I have no problem with the folks who challenge Tony’s inappropriate behaviors or his radical views. Just remember it is kind of like a car that pulls to the right. You can make the correction but as soon as you let the steering wheel go it’s going to swerve again. He cannot look at anything from anyone else’s point of view. That is not the way he is hard wired. But that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be corrected when he is out of line.
The folks on this board have helped Tony by giving him some bright line guidelines he can buy into and rationalize in his concrete thinking. The folks who think screwing with a guy with a mental disability is fun, you are just jerks.
Social Security is the only financial security he is ever going have. Unless the naysayers are willing to bankroll him they should just shut up and let him get on with trying to get the services he needs. Tony is not some kind of internet level, he is real.
