Two Choices

got 2 choices of how i want to live my life, one choice is to go back to Jean, relax and take it easy playing online seals with clubs, a little VBJ, and not have to stress over rent and commutes and i think now with a roll of $1993 i might have enough. the other choice is to find a place in vegas that dont involve commuting close to a NL game.

and ive got 3 days to decide for that is when my room here at this casino is now up. yes, i know my rent has been due on Tuesdays. today i officially moved out of a place on boulder hwy, and i got 2 nights at this one hotel downtown. I really miss my old longterm setups in the casino, made life so convenient and stress free, hate riding buses and waiting at busstops after dark. i had to move out of that place on boulder hwy for a reason no one reading this blog could know before now. u see a certain dealer at Hooters knew exactly where i lived, and what unit number my apt was. u see he gave me a lift over there and helped me carry my things when i first moved in.

and all the threats and the posts trying to find out where i was living was making me uncomfortable, especially since this dealer knew exactly which unit number it was besides just knowing the apt complex. So now i feel a lot better, because now no one will ever know where im living. i have a nice bed and TV now in this casino hotel room.

and about Ray--he is one of the guys about my age from the old monte carlo casino festivals in toledo when i lived there age 19-23. learned how to play poker then. am surprised to hear he learned of my blog, Larry was the old man i played chess with all the time. and sometimes Ray drove me home. neither one of us are gay. dont know why anyone would get that idea. for a while he was driving a greyhound bus and sometimes came into vegas. no idea what became of that job. He was the one who taught me how to stack the deal when im dealing. a skill still known by a lot of old time stud dealers in this town.

i am not sure what ill do once my 3 days are up, guess it depends on how im doing in the NL games. i know when im in Jean it keeps me off the VP machines, but i dont want to be where i can play no poker at all except for online, maybe it will just be a weeks vacation. still would like to live elsewhere instead of vegas too. that way no one would ever know where i am.

ssi finally sent the denial letter to vince, so i need to go file an appeal. also my mother sent down a lot of old paperwork that helped me get ssi in ks, and the name of my old atty, who seems to not have a NV license and no longer be in business. once i get a steady address i still can really use reading glasses and i still will have a great need for a microwave soon, but right now id need it stored for me so its too soon to get one. ill spend the next 2 days playing my best at $1-2 NL to see how i do buying in from $100 to $200 at a time in a good game. and getting in touch with SSI, and i might need to go in person to appeal so i can give them all these papers mom sent me, is anyone such as seattle irish or pokerjohnny willing to hang out in an SSI office for a while with me? also might need a ride out to Jean thurs, will throw in something on the gas.

my play is so split up i dont qualify for ANY freerolls, not sams town, or EC, and is one of the reasons i hate them type of promos in the first place instead of AA cracked. u see i dont want to make a weeklong or monthlong commitment to any one room. same way with the riviera promotions in the spread limit game that i did exceptionally well in, cashing out over $500 when in the game for $138. might go there if that game went more days a week, and this summer they will be offering free rooms for hours played during the week and $45 weekend rooms, so i might try and stay there for the 28 day max soon but that is quite a ways off yet. it wont start for over another month.

also tmobile promised me theyd turn my service on for $40.35 and that was all i authorized to pay, and it seems like somehow they charged me $50 more and took the money out of my bank, so now i need to call them about that too. not sure whats going on. i dont see the $50 on my bank statement yet, but it shows 2 charges being paid on the 22nd of april, not sure what the extra $50 is. not really any way to get it back considering its money i owed. not sure why its seperate too, looks like it was put on a credit card ending in 904, i dont have a credit card ending in 904. at least not on my current one, cant remember the old one, it might get reversed and my bank charge me and them, better call them soon and ssi soon.

so is anyone else coming into vegas very soon? also i dread mentioning my next monthly internet bill and my  $14 bank service fee will also both be coming within the week. ill never feel like im finally starting to get back on my feet til i pass $3000 again, its been many months since ive had $3000. i posted earlier on twitter $2043, but that was before i saw the other $50 subtraction from tmobile.

  1. Tony, I think you know that your best bet to make a living at gambling is by sticking to NL. I'm far, far, far from convinced that you will ever be able to succeed at this because of your addiction to machines. However, assuming you could somehow succeed in staying off machines, you need to build up a bankroll large enough to afford monthly rent at a place you feel confortable living at. Casinos are not going to work because you need the comps from machine play to get the rooms, etc... Forget about the idea of living in a casino altogether - it is self-destructive given your circumstances.

Figure out how much money you would need to get a steady apartment (factoring in apartment price, monthly expenses (food, phone, whatever), estimate your win-rate and determine how many hours a month you must play to meet your expenses. Maybe you have enough now to do this.

Once you can afford your living arrangement, you need to stick to poker, and play enough hours to meet your expenses.

Of course, this assumes you can stay off machines AND that you can win at NL poker AND that you can avoid variance and build your income up.

    God luck.

  3. Tony, you have done this Jean experiment a couple of times now, once with about the same BR, once with $750 Andy cash injection. Both times you were stressed about going busto, you went on tilt, you martingaled, and you left with less money than you started with.

What do you plan to do differently this time around to make it work?

  4. That's gotta be your choice you should know best. From what I can see poker seems to be your best option as you've done well since returning to Vegas. Not sure how you would be able to only play a little VBJ in Jean and get enough comps for a room. Pissing money away in VP etc is what will kill you if you stay in Vegas as you know better than anyone. Good luck either way

  7. Tony, this is Tim, from Lyons. Stay off the VBJ machines like I told you 4 years ago, and stick to NLHE. You have the game to be a great player. You need discipline. Why don't you set a goal of proving to everyone that you CAN stay off the machines? That would really show 'em. You can grind your way back to a 5-figure roll, if you'd just have some discipline in your game. I do still check in on you from time to time. I'm probably one of the only people that used to play the bar tournaments with you from Kansas that actually still looks in on you. I'm in Alabama now, where there's not a game to be found. Good luck. I'd like to check in a month from now to find your roll above $3 grand.

    1. Ugh, that's some bad playing/calling right there. Glad you went to your room. A $181 loss is par for the course.

Tony, I'd be happy to send you a new pair of reading glasses if you'd like. Email me a mailing address.

    2. Tony, if you think you can't play your best, then DON'T PLAY! Find something else to do aside from gambling. Take a break. Being stuck $181 is better than being "in a hurry to hit a hand" and losing more money. Tomorrow is another day. Rest up, and head back out.

If you are incapbable of doing this because of your gambling addiction, then you will never, ever, ever survive gambling. This is the harsh truth of the matter.

    3. dont have a mailing address yet, will let u know. anyway now to Pete-- i didnt play anymore because i decided to grab food at Mc d and relax in room. just now waking up next day around noon. before i bought the food, i sat at a VP machine with $100, herbie found me with $92, i cashed out and left. sat at a different machine in the fremont, and won $244 on it. new roll $2060. so yeah there are wins on VP machines, i just dont like mentioning them, would rather report i didnt play at all.

    4. Tony:

Setting aside the actual hand play (you called with KQ, hit top pair, and simply call the 10$ bet, along with some others? Why did you not raise there?), you absolutely CAN NOT start playing those machines.

You will have short term gains on those machines and then you will dump multiple buy-ins on them. It is a net -EV for you. Time after time after time after time after time.

The machine you played was not an AP machine, was it? Stop doing that shit. If you can't handle a small loss at poker, you are simply showing you don't have the discipline to play the game. WORK ON YOUR DISCIPLINE.

      s.i.

p.s. - not reporting that you've relapsed into degen mode is not the same as discipline.

    5. Tony, I'm glad you quit playing when you realized you weren't playing your best. You need to do this always.

However, the fact that you were playing VP when you woke up is a joke. More proof that you are simply incapable of living the lifestyle you are attempting to lead.

      Good luck to you, sir.

  10. Why are you complaining about paying money you owe?

    ReplyDelete
  11. If losing a small amount of money like $181 is going to stress you out, then you need to quit gambling until you have a bigger bankroll.

Your hand history is terrible. We need stack sizes, positions, etc.

But why didn't you raise preflop with KQ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. raise preflop with KQ? in late position after a few limpers? why? thats just sitting me up to get reraised off the hand, both by those who have me crushed and by those who just do it as bluffs. and its best people comment HERE, not on RTP regarding these hand histories.

    2. Tony,

Please tell me that's a joke. Your paranoia about your opponents has hit an all-time high. Raise quality hands in position. If the guy wants to re-raise you off it, it's likely a good thing for you. It lets you know who has the huge hand and you can get away cheaply. Lucky you, you got in for 2 bucks and it cost you $100. Next time raise to $12 pre flop, it may have saved you the other $88.

      Delete
    3. Tony in the games you play the only time you are going to get limp-reraised off KQ is when KQ is crushed. Raise the limpers and grab the initiative. You don't win at NLHE by creeping in, getting a piece of the flop, and praying.

      Delete
  12. Tony- Would it help if I emailed you my poker tracking spreadsheet? That way you can track your wins / losses on a regular basis. All you would have to do is write down somewhere (phone, paper, etc.) the start / end time and the profit / loss and copy that over to your computer. I'm assuming you have excel installed along with MS Word, etc. You could track all of your sessions easily and have hard data as to your hourly rate, daily / monthly / yearly wins, etc.

Let me know if you're interested & I'll send it out.

Are you on fuckin drugs??? Are you really going to tell us you don't see the value of a positional raise with the KQ??? The hand as you played it cost you about $79 so if you raise and get reraised off it costing you a lot less than $79 this is bad...... how??? Dude, is this how you always play poker??? Wow!!!

    1. I just posted the same comment above, it's really unfathomable how this man can claim to be a 20 year winner.

If you are so paranoid, why not just fold it?

    2. Tony is very bad at poker.
The only way he knows to play is super tight and nitty.
Tony would rather limp into pots than raise because someone might "bluff" him off the best hand.

He has a HUGE fear of being bluffed and will stack off repeatedly because he doesn't want to be "bluffed."

If he raises and someone limp re-raises him he is likely to push because he will interpret the guy putting in another raise as just picking on him, trying to bully him and Tony takes everything personally at the poker table.

THIS is why Tony limps when he should be raising.

  15. lost $94 today in the $1-2 at the golden nugget, and at one point was $73 ahead. also got a picture of the pitboss at an indian casino at gila river, she was quite drunk and had me take a picture of her to send her family. turns out she does have a BF but her family doesnt like him because hes not Jewish, so she didnt bring him to Vegas. also heard private clubs offer dealers choice in phoenix. not sure how to post the picture here. also i found out i was wrong on the credit card number, it ends in 0954 and dont seem to belong to me, must be someone else. they cant find a name, it was done automatically, i guess if its not my old credit card number its not me. worried it mightve been mine and appear eventually on my bank statement, i cannot remember my old CC number. all i know is its not mine now. also they said that number was never used on any of my past bills so maybe it wasnt a card i used to use, and if a friend on the blog did this without wanting me to know who they were, i certainly appreciate it and am thankful. ill go ahead and add that $50 back to my bank acct instead of worrying about it being subtracted, since it no longer seems to be one of my old cards. meaning my roll should be $2016 or close to that.

  16. typed this earlier, and then my entire post got ate because i didnt realize my internet connection had been lost before i hit submit. God, what a lot of work for nothing.

had 88, and it got limped to me for $2, and then got raised behind me, to $13 and 3-4 of us seen the flop. flop comes 467 with 2 clubs. foreignor with all the chips checks, i bet $30 into the raiser, he folds making me feel good. foreignor calls. turn comes Q, just in case he is checking a monster, i check also, and thats probably wrong. river comes 4, and im determined to call all missed draw bluffs. he bets $100, i call, and he was slow playing aa the whole time? what would u guys do on the river? i checked to encourage bluffs, expecting to be ahead. i did hope for smaller sized bluffs however. i showed weakness so i would think if he really did have aa shouldnt he bet less for value?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you stay at the Golden Gate they put a $100 hold on your credit card besides just paying for the room. Lots of comments on that and how many days it takes for GG to reverse the $100 hold they put on. BTW the one time I stayed there some of the rooms are super small like barely big enough to hold the bed and a show that you need to stand sideways in it is so small. That kind of room is probably the $20 room you would be looking at. I didn't have that room booked and when they wanted to give my better room to somebody else they gave me the smaller room for FREE. Doesn't get any better than that...
