trying to hang in there, online poker is the only way out at this point

Glad Josie included a few food items in with that pair of reading glasses ill get monday, im down to 1 can of beans, and 3 soups left. thats it. $31 worth of food did last 2 weeks, along with eating in the buffet 4 times.

This is about the cheapest place to buy advertising, even lightning told me i wasnt charging near as much as i should. each post is getting close to 2000 views. I have come full circle, when i was 19-23 and ran a publication, back then i made my money from selling advertising too. Just not selling subscriptions anymore today.

only $765 to my name, which isnt a lot without income or assets, most people have a car alone worth more than that. But in keeping with the spirit of making sure i have some kind of daily income, i sent myself $20 again Sunday morning from my seals account, and each time it takes about a week to hit my bank. so we have 5 transactions enroute to the bank, one of which is the paypal $25. That should increase the roll soon.

and still have 700 chips left on seals. and here is a bitcoin address anyone wanting to buy advertising can deposit money into. i feel a ton more confident with it than paypal, also bankofamerica transfers and walmart moneycard transfers are acceptable also. 16WaVZ4tC2ThE4qChDQPeaQ9viejDhrnuk

oh, the guy who paid $25 for the ad, said it was payment for a week, so maybe i didnt undersell as much as lightning thought. i really have no idea what to charge, im going to be generous and give him 2 weeks, just to give him more time to find an interested party in his business. Lightning may have been under the impression the ad would be up forever when he said to charge $150.

Pete Peters made a great suggestion, but the ad i posted from Elko craigslist on RTP about the motel for $400 a month or $160 a week, (big discount monthly) is NOT in elko. its in wells NV, close to wendover and idaho. way up in that corner, and no bus goes to it as far as i know. greyhound dont. if i was there, id certainly be doing nothing but grinding online poker, and staying off the machines. it would be almost as remote as Jean but not quite, it is a town.

$400 a month is quite cheap, especially with a microwave, fridge, free wifi, but i dont know if that free wifi would have a NV ip address or not. how does anyone get a NV ip address who travels a lot instead of living at home? would make it hard for visitors to NV to play online if u cant get a NV ip address without having a wired modem at HOME. the reason i think wifi wont give u one is because of all the complainers in the 2+2 thread who couldnt get on at a starbucks or mcdonalds. would also like to hear of success stories of people who got online Ultimate poker who were NOT at home when they got on, or who did get online at home, but with wifi instead of wired.

see, even if i did have an apt in vegas, the vast majority dont let u hook up cox anyway, because they have their OWN wifi, most of which dont work. only the ones that rent monthly might allow u to do that. and i might still be on cox's bad credit list from an unpaid bill out of state. century link is an option however. any other companies offer aircards which DO give out NV ip addresses that arent nationwide? i know theres a company called clear, also others, but i dont know if they offer aircards. i am assuming the only reason verizons aircards arent located in NV is because they are nationwide, and verizon said if i go elsewhere in NV, i might still end up with a NV ip addy, but i dont think so. especially since another test showed me as Bedminster NJ ip addy. and are games really easier on UP than on seals? maybe they will be, once omaha is added, and one thing is sure, eventually they will end up with far more players. but then again, the NV market will be split up among so many sites, i dont see how it will handle that many. theres not enough online players willing to relocate here. i do think ill have an easier time finding low stakes on UP, and one really nice thing ive heard about UP is they allow ratholing and u can sit back in the same game without waiting. that does wonders for protecting and growing a small roll, im sure the gaming comission forced them to do this to be fair to everyone otherwise theyd probably not allowed it.

finally down to only 4 shirts left, and seattle irish hasnt answered his message on facebook

  2. Yes -- I was under the impression that the guy paid $25 for a year since most businesses I have worked with have bought by the year. Getting $25 for a week is great, and you made a smart move by giving him an extra week. If he likes the traffic he might offer you a nice long-term deal.

    1. No one is going to pay TBC $25/week for an ad, not even a schlocky MLM site.

Methinks there was miscommunication somewhere there. Even $25/month is kind of pricey for a niche site with very little traffic in the grand scheme of things (and most of that traffic from repeat hardcore visitors).

  3. copied from roughingthepunter, i want to do more posting here, and less posting there--

in the middle of trying to appeal ssi online, and i really need someones help in getting me a doctor and an attorny. probably do me a whole lot more good than money to gamble with. theres no way ill ever have a drs help unless someone else puts up the money. and i need the drs help before i can get the attorny.

on this appeal form, its asking me for the MAILING ADDRESSES and phone numbers of people who know about my condition, and how it effects my daily life. they wont accept just a phone number, the govt requires them to have a mailing address, not an email address or i cant put them down. maybe u can give me a phony one and they might still call? i dont fucking know. also i wished mom happy mothers day, and shes really concerned as to what is going on with SSI. this is going nothing since i cant get a dr or lawyers help.

if anyone is willing to privately give me their mailing address, and to let SSI give them a call and ask about me, please send me this info to tonybigcharles@yahoo.com

am seriously afraid ill run out of comps in Jean and have no choice but to hide out in the desert and sleep. id be way too scared to in vegas because i am just not young anymore and there is crime and violence now that didnt exist 20 yrs ago. most people still believed in God then.

all i can grind on the VBJ or off seals winnings is a little for food, and maybe the $80-160 min i need to pay on my past due internet before june 1 to avoid cutoff.

in a way its funny people gave me cash to play with, but wont get me a dr or attorny, or a place to live for a month in vegas so i can try to get things done. or a place in reno for a month, or anywhere thats NOT outside NV. outside NV i couldnt play stations and my ssi would be gone forever.

  4. 1) crime is WAYlower now than it was 20 years ago. Look it up. This is a verifiable fact. I think it just seems like there is more because of all of the 24 hour news stations, every news outlet having websites, Twitter, etc.

    2) how are you going to pay for your doctor and attorney now? They do not work for free.

One thing that might work is move back home and have your mom help you withe these. She can drive you to appointments and such. Then when you start getting money, over the first few months pay her back for what she helps you with. Then once you get even with her, get a subsidized apartment again. Then you can start to live a relatively stress free life. Go back to grinding on Seals. Maybe get a part time job. Find a girlfriend. Have a normal life.

I think camping in the desert is probably the WORST choice you can make.

  5. Find a lawer that does SSD cases and they will refer you to a Doctor that will give a very favorable diagnoses. You will NOT have to pay the lawyer up front, he will take a portion of your back pay after your case is decided if you win. If you do not, you will owe him nothing. You can select a lawyer and go for a free consultation and he will explain this to you. Normally you will receive a lump sum check from the time you stopped receiving SS until you are approved and he will take 33% as his payment. STOP doing the online shit by yourself, you will not get approved with a mental disability so seriously stop that shit before you screw up your case. You have to be patient too, some cases take months to get through the system . Don't be lazy.

    1. i know how it works, i had a lawyer in KS. its 25% and ONLY out of the backpay. they certainly dont refer u to a dr, i called 3 prominent disability attornys on the phone last august when applying for SSI, explaining i needed an attorny, all refused to take my case unless i was able to find my own doctor that i was seeing on a regular basis. at least thats what all 4 attornies said to my on the phone. they wouldnt let me come in for a free consultation until i first had medical records from a dr, and i dont know how mom found me one, think she went to some legal aid place instead of looking for an attourny on her own

everyone tells me to keep up working on getting ssi, but it all seems pointless without the help of a dr and an attorny. am quite upset with ssi for deciding my case and denying me without giving me near enough time to find a dr who will help me, they shouldve waited a year or 2 longer to decide. they decide these way too quick

in KS i too had to see a judge to get approved, but really my attorny saw him for me, and i got approved after 2-3 yrs, thats why i got so much backpay. about $4500 upfront, and then another $4000-5000 a year later. not nearly what WEC claims, i dont know where he got his figures, id like to see them in my words.

  6. Tony, you appealed your SSI last August, that was nine months ago. You had plenty of time to find a dr that would have seen you for a diagnosis but you didnt want to pay for it. Don't blame it on Social Security because you wouldn't do what you needed to do. And also, even if you got a diagnosis you might still not gotten approved because you can't show you are not able to take care of daily living needs. They look at rather you are able to feed yourself, bathe yourself, clothe yourself, etc. They don't look at whether you don't want to work, they look at if you are able to work, at any job. If you have been able to go this long without assistance and reapply just because you are now needing funds is not enough to get SSI. In the last 9 months you have had money to pay for a dr. you just refused to do it. This is all on you. It is harder to get SSI than it is to get regular disability because you haven't paid anything in to the system. As I told you once before, as well as other people, in the state of Nevada any homeless person can get 200 hundred dollars in food stamps. You can apply on line and never go in to the office. You can give a mailing address that they can send the card to but do not put the casino as your address. I know people that they did this. they got a phone call and within 10 days they had their EBT card and never went in to the office. And before you say that it wouldn't do you any good in Jean, everyone knows you won't be there much longer cause you will be out of money soon. And don't say that people should be proud that you don't want to take help from the government, what do you think SSI is. That is why we pay so much in taxes so the government can help people that need it. It is only wrong if you take it and don't need it. Tell them you are homeless and panhandle to survive which is basically true because you constantly beg for money so you can continue to gamble. Did you apply for housing last year when everyone was telling you to. If you would have you would be on the list. Quit thinking about gambling for a little while and take care of these things. The machines will still be there.

  7. So you want everything handed to you? IMHO go to Vegas, apply EVERYWHERE, land a job no matter what the pay is, rent a cheap place, and stop stressing about being homeless. Stop asking people for money, and DO something. The reason people will give you money to gamble is becuase to some people $100/200 doesn't really mean much, but having a degen person that has a horrible bankroll management living with them is the last thing they want. I can't believe you've gone this long struggling to stay afloat, while playing -ev games! You're smart, get a job and stop worrying.

  10. Tony,

Several weeks ago I posted information about the legal aid services in Clark County. You seem to have ignored this post and never commented whatsoever. You now are "wishing" for an attorney to step up and help you. I'm going to copy that post here for you. This is a VALUABLE option for you. Seek out their services and DO NOT BE LAZY here. More than likely, legal aid will point you in the right direction as far as your SSI appeal and potentially refer to a low cost clinic that see's patients on a sliding income scale. I repeat, here is an option for you. DO NOT IGNORE THIS. IT IS YOUR BEST OPTION FOR PURSUING YOUR SSI APPEAL. You can call/contact them while in Jean and find out how to seek their services. They may also be able to help you with Food Stamp benefits as Wanda suggests.

Also - hope to see more posts here under your blog.

    Reposting:

I would recommend taking the next step and appealing that decision. Your best bet is to seek out a Legal Aid organization that may provide legal representation on your behslf. Here is one for Clark County.

    http://www.lacsn.org/

If I were you, I would seriously think about contacting them, trying to set up an intake evaluation, whether over the phone or in person, in order to see if they will assist you with your appeal. You should meet their income guidelines for this service.

Legal Aid is a service paid by the local bar associations and exist for people who cannot afford legal assistance. I hope you seriously consider contacting them and do not let this advice fall on def ears. Be smart and do not be lazy here. Use this service and spend a half day reaching out to them. Its there to help you.

  11. i shouldve done this sooner, and had i got the help of an attorny much sooner i mightve not been denied by the state office for the 2nd time. But none of my friends are willing to drive me back and forth between Vegas anymore, they want me in vegas instead of Jean for the sole fact of forcing me outside on the streets or an unsafe shelter because they get a kick out of humiliating and breaking me, cause they mistakenly think its the gambling thats ruining me, not my lack of income. even seattle irish has ignored me. a real friend would take me in, and vince has offered before but only for like 2-3 days and thats not long enough. and im soon going to take a long walk of about 6 blocks, to a post office to mail some papers in a big envelope. sickcallmggee was helpful a few times with rides, but i wasnt nearly as broke then, and i cant afford gas anymore, especially if its $40 and up for gas because ur car isnt any good.

and no matter how low the sliding scale is, ive dropped so low in money i cant even afford $20

    1. Tony, make no mistake - it's the gambling that's ruined you. It's the gambling that is also the cause of your low (no) income. You may try and rationalize it however you want; but gambling is (has) ruining your life.

Take Lawzag's advice above. If you need a reference for disability, let me know (you know how to reach me).

      Good day, sir.

    2. If it costs you $20 to see a doctor and obtain a medical opinion to support your SSI claim, then YES, you can afford this. The value of obtaining SSI benefits, is far greater than the $20 upfront cost. You will easily put $20 into a machine, so I do not understand why you think paying $20 for an exam and medical report is beyond your means. Contact the Legal Aid organization.

Your "friends" don't want you back in Vegas, homeless and on the streets, in order to humiliate and break you. Why do you think your "friends" want that?

I have an 11 year old son, so I'm not interested in allowing you to live with me. I would have to know you a heck of a lot better than I do in order to trust you (or anyone else) to live in my house with my son. It's not an indictment against you.

Regardless, you have other options. Work to complete some of those options before asking someone to take you into their home.

His Friends don't want to drive him back and forth at his whim and for free since he can't afford gas money.

Nobody will find him a place to live and set him up rent free for a month or longer.

Nobody is giving him the information when he needs it.

Tony, this is your life - you have to live it.
You have gotten a fuck-ton of advice over the years that I have known you and you have ignored it all and then when you get into a desperate situation you say that no one wants to help you.
You won't help yourself, you won't listen to reason and you won't listen to the advice your friends gave you a million times. People are wore out and beat up and don't feel it's worth wasting their breath (or typing) on you.

Why don't you have doctor records detailing your disease?
Because you're too lazy to go to a doctor.
You come up with excuse after excuse as to why you can't do something instead of just manning up and doing it.

We root for you but all you do is shit on everyone in the end.

There have been people who've done what you're suggesting - enrolled in college, collected financial aid (they cap it now at 186 credits - very glad they didn't do that when i was an undergrad! I finished with 221 credits.), lived in the residence halls - all as a form of social aid to avoid homelessness.

    So....it is possible.

It does mean you have to do a good deal of paperwork (apply to UNLV, fill out a FAFSA form, apply for housing, apply for accommodations through the Disability Resource Center so you get a single without charge). It also means you would have to keep your batshit tantrums to a minimum. A big screaming/throwing fit could get you kicked out. It also means you would be surrounded by 18-24-year olds, with their accompanying noises and social outlets.

You haven't shown yet that you have the follow through skills to complete all the paperwork. And, you haven't shown that you have the social patience to live communally. Still...it's an option.

why don't you apply for a job at the hotel you are staying at in Jean?
      Or another one close by?
Or a local McDonald's or the grocery store.
All of these would give you MONEY coming in consistently and you could grow your roll or piss it away in the machines trying to earn comp dollars.

Instead of getting a few hundred a month in SSI - support yourself and get a few hundred a month that you actually earn by doing actual work. Something you haven't done in 15-20 years or so.

  17. Tony - Don't you realize you're on the brink of losing everything? Why are you STILL making excuses and accomplishing nothing?

Please stop blaming others. You've already received more help than you deserve. People who work far harder than you, who pay taxes and provide for their families aren't eligible for half the assistance you are or receive the generosity from strangers the way you do; and yet you squander it.

I'm pregnant, without insurance because I work for the WSOP. I have a complication related to my heart. I didn't expect, at 32, and using "fool proof" protection to find myself in this scenario. I work 12 to 14 hours a day, pay for everything out of pocket and have spent more than a few nights crying myself to sleep. But I get the fuck up and make tomorrow happen because I am the ONLY one responsible for MY life. Last week I had the joy of paying for an emergency root canal with no pain meds (pregnant disallows it). Would I have rather played poker or penny slots with it? Sure! But that isn't how shit works in the real world.

If a woman who is six months pregnant can get off her ass and work more than full time and make it without government assistance or donations, a grown "man" can surely do half as much.

Stop making excuses and stop being a deadbeat. THIS is why you're single. This is why you're almost homeless. You offer so little to the people in your life that even being your friend is such an emotional drain that you can pretty much give up on a relationship.

Maybe it's frustration taking.. Because I rarely do anything but lurk here; but for fucks sake man.. You deserve NOTHING if your not willing to make it happen. Get a JOB. Get your legal affairs straight and stop depending on handouts.

  25. Tony, just saw over on 2+2 that the riviera is running a promo now, sunday through thursday if you play 6 hours in their poker room your room is free. Plus, you can bank hours so if you play 12 hours one day, it's good for 2 free nights. Rooms on friday and saturday are $45 and can't be comped, but this is a way for you to play poker and keep a room over your head for what amounts to $90 a week. Also, they let you split hours with a buddy if you have one, so you could just play 3 hours poker and the other guy 3 hours poker and then you get a night's stay. You have to email the poker room though to confirm your dates are available. I think this could be a good opportunity for you.

However, I just do not get how you constantly seek advice and at times (while minimal) listen to to what you are told from RTP posters, but refuse to give even serious consideration to people following your blog, such as me, PPP, Josie, etc.... We are not haters. We are not people hoping you fail. We are people quite honestly intrigued by your blog and journey, entertained at times and like to give you good and worthwhile advice. This is not to mean that all posters at RTP do not mean well, but the vast majority are there to criticize your actions.

Nevertheless, you commented today on RTP about possibly pursing your SSI appeal. Well, I laid the groundwork for an excellent resource, but you have yet to spend 15 minutes to make a phone call. Do not ingore this advice. All it takes is a phone call. And while I have no personal experience with this legal aid organization, I can tell you that the ones I have worked for or volunteered my time, want to help people in a low income bracket such as yourself. Utlize it. This is not a handout. It is honest legal advice to assist low income people in Southern Nevada who cannot afford legal representation. DON'T BE STUPID HERE.

    Nuff said.

P.s. - Josie. You rule with your helping package. Keep up the Karma, because things always work out for those who pay it forward. (AND TONY - do not hesitiate to thank here repeatedly.)
