In my new room for a week up in North Las vegas

Got checked in about 4pm or so, too bad its only good for 1 week, and then ill really miss this place. nice refrigerator, kitchen, TV, and air conditioner, internet works great, and linens are included. But of course i cant keep it no matter how well i do this week, its over $240 a week with all the extra charges and fees. and once i lose the room, my other net will be ready to be cut off too for nonpayment, so i know things will be awful bad once this week is up.

And its too bad i cant see a dr because i wont really have any papers to give the atty so he can help me unless he can somehow get the old records from KS where i was approved. i dont think the actual hearing will be for quite a while. And knowing that i would only be here a week, i tried to avoid spending too much on food, nothing that wouldnt be eaten this week. Milk, cereal, icecream sandwiches, bread, peanut butter honey peaches and frozen meals bananas crackers beans. Carried them heavy items home from Walmart not the best neighborhood, but the place im at is certainly safe and nice and is why it cost so much more.

will try and take pictures, but i doubt it will work.

Guess its time to go ahead and start including the online money as part of the roll, since im going to be spending all my time in my room unless im playing a stake for either cooldave at the suncoast or a different stake downtown for someone else if i get to play any nugget tourneys or $1-2 NL this summer. most places arent very convenient to get to on the bus from here, and i really cant afford to play live, although im winning a whole lot more in live games than online. But it costs me too each to eat and pay bus fares and im curious just to test out UP for a week and see how it goes, with the one exception im going to make is my trip to speak to the legal aid attorny.

So many comments from the black pimp ive never had a chance to reply to since he posts them all in RTP instead of my blog. Thanks so much to Vince for the 2 nights stay, the shoes, and assisting me in getting the laundry done and eating those days i was there. thats really what i need long term friends i can live with that i can trust. not strangers off craigslist, id never rent a room from someone i didnt know really well, u must know u are safe leaving ur things there, and that they wont invite people over who might steal or create other problems. I am so afraid and reluctant to trust people unless i can remember having been given money from them in the past.

I heard the Riv closed their poker room, what became of the jackpot money, was it paid out? some people are wondering about it, not sure if it ever got paid out. also ive got a lot more clean laundry now than ill be able to keep once my week is up.

i dont see any way in hell ill be able to afford anywhere to live once my week is up and that really scares me, because i sure cant afford to travel to reno where it might be cheaper and still enough inside the border to play on UP. the cheapest safe place i know of is where i used to be near sams town for $154 without the furniture, and thats not all that cheap at all, nor that safe either. I dont ever want to go back to staying in the really unsafe places i used to live at in areas like toledo ohio as a young adult. although i wouldnt mind the garage apt i had in shreveport at 19, or the $50-60 a week room i had in roanoke VA and Harrisburg PA while passing thru once. or the place for that price in Dubuque IA in that old run down hotel. (smaller towns make me a whole lot more comfortable, if i could just play online and still gamble).

so of course, i wont be around any machines this week. i just hope i can somehow succeed on UP. i am not used to playing only cash NL online instead of omaha or DON sngs. Im glad im still up after getting the $50 bonus a little more than the bonus. counting the money in the bank, the cash left, and the money on UP, my new roll is $1140

There is one way, get off your lazy ass and get a job like other people do to pay rent and utilities. Not magic.

    Good luck,

  6. Have you spent any of your time in Vegas lining up a counselor, any job interviews set up, Are you waiting on someone else to do these things for you. If you don't pay your internet bill, how are you going to stay hooked up to UP. You can't always depend on WIFI to be available. You could pay part of the bill and in a few weeks pay another payment. I don't think they would take just 10 dollars but you could pay half of it at a time

    1. my internet modem does NOTHING to help me get on UP, and in fact keeps me from it, because it assigns an AZ ip address. being in vegas instead of Jean dont help, its still an AZ ip address. i am only able to get on UP because along with this place for a week, the person who got me in paid extra for wifi. wifi is the only way i can get on UP. after the week is up ill just have to go to places that have wifi. i'd never be able to get on UP with my modem, if i paid the bill or not. and instead of seeing a counselor im staying off the machines, which is far more impt anyway. much better to stay off machines and not see a counselor, than to see one and still play them, is it not? and im waiting to hear what my lawyer says to do about seeing a dr.

Yep, of course, never anything to better yourself...what else is new. Maybe cooldave will adopt you...

    4. If only you have not said it 1000 different times over the years....same story, same talk, so far never a different result. Oh, I havent played machines in (1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 1 week). No matter the time frame you always go back. And you need to be rid of machines and poker, you do not have the ability to handle either, and at some point all the people extending you the hand-outs will dry up and then all the chances you have had to clean yourself up will be gone...

Anyway, one more human down the drain, what is the difference

    5. You curing yourself of your addiction sounds like a great plan. 100 percent success rate.

    6. My mistake Tony in thinking there were more reasons to be on the internet than UP. You can't always rely on WIFI at different locations. But if it isn't a big deal to have reliable internet connection (for anything other than UP) then don't pay your bill. It doesn't make a difference to me either way.
And the only reason I asked about the counselor is you were the one that wrote in an earlier entry that someone should get you to Vegas so you could go to a counselor. Again, I don't care one way or the other cause you going or not going doesn't effect me either way. This just shows that what you say is whatever you think will get someone to do what you want. Enjoy the hot temperatures outside when your week is up, unless you can find someone else to pay your way with more of your promises.

My house is in NLV as well. Maybe Friday we can do something.
I'm not promising anything because it hinges on a few things like the weather.
Might take my boy to the YMCA so he can go swimming and I can work on my sunburn.
However - depending on when my Fiance works I might have my evening free either Friday or Saturday.

Tony this has to be your priority. Soft games = easier money. A couple of good sessions buy you another week there. Focus on games with tourists and fishies not the old nit grinders.

    2. pointless, yes i should be out playing, but i wanted to see if i can win on UP while i still have a room, and i cant renew this room no matter what, id take the $154 one if i took anything, this is way over $240

      Delete
    3. Where exactly is Tony supposed to play with tourists and fishies? The Venetian and possibly at times the Wynn are his only real outs, and it's just a matter of time before he's banned at those two.

      Delete
    4. I know the options are limited...but game selection helps. 1-2NL is most popular with tourists and donks.

      Delete
    5. What about Tony's history of being banned at casinos? I mean, last time he returned to Vegas he was banned at two more places (Hooters and Terribles). Has he addressed the issue that causes him to be inevitably banned anywhere he frequents? No. So what happens when he's banned from all Stations properties? How about Venentian? Then what? Where are you going to tell him to play against tourists and donks? Will you then tell him to move elsewhere so he can keep playing poker? Will you tell him that everything will be alright as long as he gambles better?

      Delete
    6. the only reason im banned is because one casino owns 100s of properties for the most part. not because all those individual casinos would ever throw me out. if i didnt have a blog almost none of them would even be aware of the ban, and id have no problem playing there. Hooters and terribles both had to do with financial stresses over having such a tiny roll, and inability to deal with losses because of it. if i had money like everyone else id never get banned anywhere, no one ever gets thrown out if they have money regardless of their behavior. when someone does not have money and is clearly too poor to share their 12c an hour wins with the employees, they are thrown out for the slightest provocation. therefore in the long run seems the only lesson i learn is ur behavior dont matter, just have the money to play and to tip and all will be ok. now of course that isnt the lesson they mean to give, but its what comes across. for i see others engage in much worse behavior who never get banned, because they have the money to fight it. they continue fighting it til the ban is gone because they have the money (and a valid mailing address) to do so.

      Delete
    7. Tony, your response is one of the reasons some people line up against you. The REASON you are banned is because of your behavior -- your blow ups when you lose, a terrible characteristic for someone who formerly attempted to survive by playing brick and mortar poker. And yes -- money does talk in this world, especially in Las Vegas. That is just the way the world works. Deal with it.

You go by a lot of assumptions regarding your bans. About a year after your classic Harrah's Joliet meltdown, I asked a dealer if he was around for it. His reply: "We have people like that on a regular basis. Doesn't sound that unusual."

Some poker rooms where the blowups have been more recent might likely not welcome you. In others, or in large systems, I speculate that there is nothing in the system regarding you. A guy being a dick in a poker room? Not like that happens much!

Several times people have attempted to assist you in taking steps toward checking your status or being welcomed back in those rooms, including offering to assist you in speaking with management and/or drafting letters. To my knowledge, you have done little or nothing to help yourself. Unfortunately, this is a recurring and tiresome theme in your life.

I have met several people who have tried to assist you -- people like Josie, Koala, Poker Johnny, grrouchie, Alaska Gal, Pete Peters -- by going out of their way, giving you hope, advice, encouragement, rides, meals, ... There are so many good hearted people who have put in so much more effort than you have. Is it little wonder that people think you are lazy?

You frustrate good people because of your lack of effort to help yourself. If people saw you busting your ass to dig yourself out of this financial hole you are in they would be offering you more help than you can imagine. Some already have. However, we have been treated to the usual -- little or no effort, lots of begging, lots of wishing and hoping.

Time to step up. If you don't, people will continue to follow this unforunate story of a guy who could have and could be so much more if only he tried half as hard as some of those around him.

    8. Lightning, you are forgetting a simple fact here. Nothing is ever Tony's fault. Racial slurs and violent behavior would be fine if the inner circle gave him enough money to tip with. Making 12 cents an hour at VBJ plus hoping and wishing for more handouts is far better than working or getting SSI. Tony knows that $240 a week free apartment's and nonstop poker stakes are way more fun than acting like a 45 year old man and being self reliant.

      Delete
  13. He has no desire to see a counselor, a doctor or look for jobs because he doesn't need anything right now. In a week or two, when his life goes on Monkey Tilt again after a VBJ loss or VP bender, he'll be begging again and saying how much he needs a friend's help.

I offered him everything. Free rides, assistance beyond transportation. All he had to do was commit to counseling, agree to pay to see an income based charity doctor, and agree to making a list of realistic job and housing prospects; with intent to follow through on both with my assistance.

I'm down to only two weeks left here and he's doing none of this because blog readers let him pan handle his way, yet again, into tenporary comfort.

As it is.. He's going to keep his attorney appointment because other people have done all the work for him; but I guarantee you he's going in there without any preparation, documentation or attempt to forward his own cause. Do you think he's made a list of questions for legal? No. Do you think he has bank records or what information he can recall in his previous trials gathered or written down? No. He's going to go in there and expect them to do the work for him and then he'll complain that he tried but no one will help him.

He's a pan handling, lazy con artist. Best served by being forced to face reality while he's still physically able to get work.

    1. That was a very kind offer but I think the list of things to do overwhelmed him.

  14. Tony,

Jennifer is a woman that is very pregnant, working a job, taking care of a pet, etc.... and she is willing to take some of her very precious spare time to help you out.

You on the other hand have no job, no responsibilities (at least none that you own up to), but you do have hundreds of excuses as to why you won't help yourself.

Lazy does not even begin to explain your issue. I understand that you are autistic and see things differently, but that is not an excuse for recognizing and admitting your laziness but doing nothing about it.

    Good luck,

    1. to play a little poker to try and grow the roll during the week, and keeping the appt, and staying off the machines, is about the most helpful thing i can do. so of course im doing my part to help myself. Having $300 more than i came to town with is far more helpful than if id done more to get public assistance.

even getting the ssi wouldnt help much, its certainly not enough to live off and pay for housing. staying off the VP and VBJ helps far more. ive got to fix it so i can grind out $500 again at poker but the question is how without an adequate roll?

    2. Grow your roll like everyone else does: with money from a job + poker winnings.

      Delete
    3. Tony your plan of succeeding that involves people giving you more money and you magically controlling your gambling addiction sounds flawless and unbeatable.

Getting the free $650 a month that your disability and refusal to work qualifies you for is total nonsense, and getting the low income housing that comes with it is pointless when you can either sleep outside in 115 degree heat or hope and wish for free apartments from headpatters.

Fending for yourself is stupid when you can just expect everyone else to pay your bills for you. Amirite? You're clearly destined to start winning as a reward for the last 18 months of sustained losing combined with hoping and wishing.

Ignoring damaging behaviours like monkey tilting online poker and machines after a small loss makes far more sense than addressing and trying to fix the root of the issue. 7 years of sustained and repeated behaviours definitely isn't a big enough sample size yet, especially since your recent increased level of wistfulness and increased efforts towards hoping and wishing. Things always seem to work out when you do nothing different other than expecting a different outcome.

Work is for stupid people who don't like gambling as much as you do, and spend money on silly things like cars and houses and vacations and kids. Knowing you're getting a paycheck is nowhere near as fun as knowing you need to win your max bet or you're sleeping in a bathroom stall again.

      Good luck my friend.

One of the reasons i really didnt want to keep too much on UP was to make sure i didnt go on tilt, and mainly because i trust my ability to beat the live cash games a lot more. But i won, and now my roll is $1213 when if i had lost the pot, wouldve been $92 less.

what happened was i called $1 to see the flop with 78 hearts in the cutoff. then it got raised on the button to $3 and about 5-6 of us called. flop comes 559 with a straight flush draw, and a guy in EP bets $3. i shoved, he called, everyone else folded, and turns out he has A3 hearts. its a bad call really, since he didnt know what i had. but i sure am drawing slim. turn comes 3 and river 6. and my straight took the pot.

Just goes to show what i can do when i stick to poker, play without fear of losing, and stay away from machines. Surprised Josie didnt email and ask how it went but maybe SI emailed her like i asked.
