bad news

new roll $582, and of course, no room tonight. im starting to wonder if the smallest games are really beatable in the long run? but even if they are not, i certainly shouldnt be losing more than like $3 an hour either. wish i had a place to go to grind online poker.

I think i need that ticket from KOD immediately, but i have no phone i can use to contact him. i also think i need to get out of here if i cant make money grinding this game like i originally thought. lost $192 in it, and i havent touched the machines.

  1. just checked my bank statement, the $14 monthly fee has been subtracted and the paypal is there. guess my roll is really only $568, i dont think i have enough to play any poker at all anymore. should just not gamble til i have more money and spend 100% of my time panhandling but God how i hate doing that instead of gamble. i feel ashamed of myself when i try to get the money by other means instead of by using my mind and my skills.

  3. Tony how come you haven't just bought a new charger for your phone? You would rather your phone sit like a brick than spend the $10 or $20 necessary to communicate?

BTW if you absolutely are deadset against buying a charger since your roll can't handle it, ask at hotels/casinos to see their charger box. All of them have a box of left behind charges. Dig through enough boxes and you should find one.

Also I think Kansas is callin', bud.

  4. You have been steadily losing money for almost two years now using your mind and your skills. Time to try something new.

Games become beatable when you have an edge in them and are one of the top 3 players at the table. Your refusal to study and improve and your inability to keep your mouth shut prevent you from being a long term winner of any significance.

  5. Tony:

Sorry this trip didn't work out. Please keep this in mind - RUNNING away has failed you time and time again.

Stop running and address your issues, would be my advice. Have you spoken to your mom about the option of staying in KS for a while?

    Best of luck -

  6. You say you have been playing with 40.00 buy-ins and you don't top off, so either you sat there and re-bought 5 times on tilt or I call BS on no machine play. I think every one will now agree, this trip has been TERRIBLE for you. Time to man up and go home. At least for a little while. Take a break, get a few home cooked meals and as SI says, address your issues.

    1. no i have been playing $1-3 stud hilow limit, only played the $40 NL once this week, maybe twice. i just had a lot of bad luck yesterday, and $27 of it was lost in omaha8 waiting for my stud seat. and i didnt play any machines. overall i broke close to even in cali, lost a small amount, of $200 at most, but my expenses wiped me out.

i just feel going to KS id go broke there and then what would i do? especially once mom wouldnt let me stay there. the only real solution is to be offered employment, and that can be anywhere in the USA as long as its something i can actually do, i worry i wont be able to do the work if its something that physical. must not require much exertion or energy

    2. Tony

Go home to KS...you can grind small stakes on Bovada. They get checks out to you in a week...the games are soft...they have stud games going alot of the time.

You need to get the fuck out of Cali before you are completely broke.

    4. id think the experience of being a poker player all those years would qualify me for a manager position indoors

    5. Start applying and use this reasoning on your applications and interviews. See how far you get.

    6. A manager of what? Being a poker player doesn't get you anything. You will have to work your way up from the very bottom.

You think you can be a manager? Why not demand to be CEO. Might as well ask for a moon. At least you will give someone a good laugh for the day.

    7. Tony, don't be ridiculous, you can't even manage yourself.

      Delete
    8. no, the experience of being a poker player for 20 years does not qualify for you a manager position anywhere. it qualifies you for a normal minimum wage job.

iron mike sharpe is right. you're going to be lucky to find ANY job. and you're going to have to put in some real effort to find that job.

your best bet is to find a graveyard shift at a grocery store stocking shelves. grocery stores are known for hiring people with intellectual disabilities. very little personal interaction and you already don't mind staying up all night. it would really be perfect.

you complain that you couldn't survive on a min-wage income, but if anyone in the world can survive on that amount of money, it's you. you are better at stretching a dollar than anyone i've ever met.

      Tony:

What are the skills do you think you've picked up playing poker all those years that you think would qualify you for a manager position? I assume by "manager", you would be managing people. What skills have you developed that would help you manage people?

      Serious question.

Sometime back, Tony, you left a comment on my blog that was so crazy I waited to post it until you confirmed that it was really from you and not someone pretending to be you. Turned out it was you.

But this....this...I mean come on. If this was on somebody else's blog I'd be sure it was someone pretending to be you to make you look silly. But I guess this really came from you.

Tony, I used to be a manager, in fact, I was in middle-management for over 30 years. I would be hard-pressed to think of anyone (other than Anthony Weiner) less qualified or less likely to get hired as a manager than you. Managing what? A poker room? Do you count in your experience and qualifications all the times you've been, you know, KICKED OUT OF POKER ROOMS?

Tony, you are quite delusional. There's some excellent advice in these comments, but above all, I really think you need professional help.

BTW, there's another "Rob" who posted in this thread, but that "Rob" is not me. I'm the Rob with the Vegas & Poker blog.

Good luck, Tony, but you need to take some actions on your own in order to be in a position to use any good luck that comes your way.

    18. most people who play poker, are considered to have "experience" in running their own business, so thats the type of job they should be looking for, and thats what i meant by manager.

    19. Tony says..."most people who play poker, are considered to have "experience" in running their own business, so thats the type of job they should be looking for, and thats what i meant by manager."

While it is true that some of skills required for a successful poker career can be transferable to a management position, it is the very lack of those skills that have characterized Tony's gambling career for the past 20+ years.

  7. Mr. Tony, your mind and skills need a break big time they are both failing you at the moment. Get you a one-way bus ticket heading east to Kansas before its to late. Go home visit your mother and son and try and get your life in some sort of order.
