HEY IVE GOT SOME GOOD NEWS

finally got home from a long night at the Suncoast. man i wish id took the bus right before midnight as the game was first getting short. i was up $101 at one point in the first 2-3 hours of play, and was pleased with myself for riding the bus here instead of playing NL downtown out of laziness. and as the game started getting shorter i sat and kept playing as it got closer to 11pm.

eventually id gave it all back once the game got too short, and i was on tilt when i rebought $500 and continued to take the NL overs button that hardly ever got used, even though as many as 4 out of 8 had it at one point. I knew the whole thing wouldnt be at risk because the 1 remaining kid with NL overs only had about $100+ in front of him. (later after he went broke not to me of course, no one had the overs). it was 3-4 handed for a long long time before i left at 4.40 to get my bus. and i lost almost every pot once that happened. i still dont see how i dropped $400 in omaha8, i dont ever remember losing that much in omaha before. i guess i really am a horrible player shorthanded, and i need to avoid shorthanded games like the plague until i have the money to afford "lessons". But the other day i didnt lose when it was shorthanded, at least not much i gave back that night.

if anyone has a pair of scisssors and can cut my hair, (i dont) i would appreciate it. lots of people think it looks bad. and lots of barbers dont want to cut it because of the bad condition of the allergies on my scalp. yet the doctor once said my scalp will heal better if it has as little hair there as possible.

and it wasnt the rake killing us $1 max and no jackpot drop 5 or less.

i would like to track my omaha and stud8 sessions also but it seems the Poker Income program i installed on my phone limits u to 8 sessions before u have to pay $5.99 for unlimited usage. so i havent been able to track anymore sessions til i find a free program i like again. which is why i had to quit tracking my sessions a few days ago.

u might be wondering, what is the good news? well for one Vince reimbursed me the $20 overpayment to my online bank acct. so im at $956 instead of $936. he actually reimbursed $19.99, i wonder if that was a silent protest? i thanked him profusely as soon as i noticed this on my bank statement.

But the main piece of good news is the fact i didnt play any machines, and reinstated $20 bounty to make sure i dont. This will apply all the way up til August. (unless i leave vegas--naturally if i am in Jean i cant have that bounty of course). I'm going to keep playing nothing but poker until i am broke, and then i dont know whats going to become of me. maybe something will change ive not anticipated if that happens, or maybe ill start winning again and be ok. who can tell? also it seems like UP will soon release the new version, going to have to go check out what i heard about free wifi at the goldspike. the casino is closed and its just a bar with nice wifi now. Large news article about it if u search. too lazy to find the link.

yes i did well not to go play machines once i dropped the first $100. not that it helped any, because i have no business in shorthanded games, but to get rid of that habit its kind of worth losing the roll at poker. because if i destroy that habit, ill be better off someday in the future. also tomorrow i dont know what i can afford with so little cash, but i think ill go to the V so i dont have to worry about the omaha game becoming short.

  1. You are not a profitable poker player. At least not at the level required to support even your meager existence. The game has changed. It's gotten harder. Your access to bad tourists is limited. The rake is higher. The cost of living is higher.

Anyone telling you that your life will be better if you just learn to be a better gambler is wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  2. So the "good news" is that you blew one third of all the money you have in the world by playing poker on tilt and with terrible game selection instead of on machines.

Yeah. Big improvement there. Uh, congratulations?

    ReplyDelete
  3. You're always going to find a reason to play machines and always going to find a reason why your failures arent your fault.

Why should someone be subjected to your scalps disgusting ness when a professional wont even go near it?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Your enablers have drilled into you that

    Machines=bad
    Poker=good

The reality for a professional gambler is

    -EV bets = bad
+EV bets = good (assuming you're bankrolled properly to account for the variance of the bet)

You playing shorthanded Omaha on tilt is a -EV bet. It's just as bad as playing machines. It may even be worse, since there are no comps to mitigate your crappy bets.

I'd guess that the majority of poker you play now is -EV. You can't play against bad tourists, and that's pretty much the only class of players you have the skill to beat.

You could never touch a machine the rest of your life and you will still end up homeless due to your gambling addiction. Your inner circle just doesn't seem to understand that.

  7. checking out the free wifi at the goldspike, works great for getting on UP. I told PPP id be at the V later, but almost want to stay here. i dont know if my new roll of $956 (minus my food and coffee here) is going to be enough for even a full table of omaha8 with the higher blinds there of $2 and $4.

But being my phone and net should be shut off soon, i wont be able to login UP without a phone anyway, so im thinking of also cashing out the entire UP balance and heading to cali with the sleeping bag. Might be easier to get on assistance there if i end up needing to, and at least $20 NL games are available 24/7. cooler there too. much easier to get money if homeless in cali than homeless in vegas. would be more inclined to stick around vegas if UP hurries up and adds omaha and 08 so i can play it here at the goldspike. they got rid of all the cheap food with the new owners, food costs more but it looks so nice inside now, and all the machines were removed, no gambling here now. just free wifi, pool tables, shuffleboard games, etc. open 24 hours.

    1. I'm not sure this is a good suggestion or even something that can be done - why don't you set a goal of winning $75 in poker per day?

You've stated in several posts that you were up this and that much before you lost it all.

Would it be practical to try and win $15 per day on UP and $60 live? Set a stop loss at $50.

But you have to remember, as soon as you reach $75 call it quits for the day!

Try it for a week and see what happens. Good luck!

    2. thats what i was going to do, but when i made the err of not taking the last bus downtown, im certainly not going to sit in the casino and not play. u cant get on UP there either.

also u are not supposed to set a limit on ur wins, only on ur losses. and really u arent even supposed to do that. u are only supposed to leave if u feel u are not the favorite, and this is where i made the big err.

Same old story Tony. Once again you have crapped big time on Josie, SI,KOD and others who helped you over the past couple of weeks.

You are back on the machines. You are back to sneaking into casinos from where you have been banned. What would you have done if you had hit a jackpot on the machine in the Plaza and they refused to pay you because you were banned from being in there? You are back to not having paid your phone bill. You are back to not having paid your internet bill. You are too lazy to get your ass out of bed to go and see the Nevada Mental Health Center at 7.30 in the morning to get the help you need.

Guess what Tony? Since your internet is likely to be cut off any day now, I just thought you might like to know that I am really disappointed and pissed off with you. Your laziness has rubbed off onto me, I would rather stay in bed than waste my time trying to convince you to get help. You will not get another bit of financial help off me until you sort out all of the above things you need to do.

Stop making excuses and go to the mental health clinic. You're a sick, mentally challenged man who needs the care of a doctor. Running away has NEVER worked for you. Why would it now?

If you go to the mental health clinic an get the proper diagnosis and assistance NOW, you have a way better chance at your SSI hearing. Your friends will be much more willing to help you. You will still get occasional stakes. You run away, you're on your own. You claim to be so smart... Why do you act so stupid?

I am disappointed that you did not try this week to follow up on the Health Centre. People took time out of their personal lives to setup, drive you and even sit through the initial consultation with the lawyer. It sounds like the Health Centre could have provided you with free housing, medical and some food coupons. I know this "free" housing may not be where you want it to be located, but you did not even investigate your options. How is a sleeping bag any better?

  18. no one who says i should be looking for a job, looking for govt assistance that will never happen, is being realistic and is all there mentally. thats one thing Cutter can understand because he is alot like me in how we live our life. that would be so damaging and harmful and a threat to my very survival as id be wasting my time doing other things instead of trying to produce a steady income doing what im best at. and the reason i want to go to cali is ive gotten the opinion the games are a lot better there and more beatable. i am shocked at how nitty the omaha8 game is at the V compared to suncoast, as nice and fancy as it is. but its more nitty, its a totally different crowd. LA has better games, the one thing WEC is right on. about the only thing he is right on. but yeah the only way ive been able to survive for 20 whole years and stay alive, is by not listening to others and doing things my own way. for a well it got me richer than i ever was in my whole life, til i mismanaged the money, and thats never happening again. almost all my bets are +ev now. But no one can see it because i am too broke. Even sbr was right about +ev bets, but my +ev bets on the VBJ didnt work. and goodnight. its hard to contain the anger i feel toward others for wanting to destroy the dream, when all they truly want is to destroy any chance for me to really be happy and succeed in life.

    1. Almost none of your bets are +ev. What do you think your hourly rate is in the Venetian O8 game? I'd guess about $-4/hr. Suncoast with overs? Probably about $-8/hr. I can't think of a single poker game you have access to in Vegas where you aren't losing money every second you're at the table. Unless of course you're playing on a handout.

You know how many people are long term winners in the $20 NL game you're running to? Zero. The rake is too much to overcome.

    2. Do you not understand that you can do all three? You can get assistance, you can find some kind of part time job and you can still play poker. If you add the three of those together, the results would be greater than any of them individually.

Aren't you supposed to be good at math? Even if you are a losing poker player, the following will be true:

      A+B+C > A

      and

      A+B+C > B

      and A+B+C > C

      Delete
    4. Let's say you get a job working three days a week for 8 hours a day. That's 24 hours. Let's say it takes you an hour each way via bus. That's 6 more hours. So, 30 hours total.

Then you play poker 4 days a week for 8 hours a day + 2 hours bus ride, so that's 40 more hours a week.

So far, between a part time job and playing poker you are out 70 hours.

There are 168 hours in a week and you have used up 70. You now have 98 hours left. Let's say you sleep 8 hours a day x 7 days a week (56 hours). You now have 42 hours a week left.

Let's say you spend 2 hours a day taking a shower, using the bathroom, brushing your teeth, getting dressed, cooking food, etc. That is 14 hours a week.

So, you now have 28 hours a week left! 4 hours a day for free time. You can work out, read a book, watch a movie, study poker, go on a date. Any fucking thing you want.

You are the one who is speaking without thinking. I just showed you how you could have a job, play poker and STILL have a lot of free time left over.

    5. Tony, as hard as you find it to understand other people, we all find it equally hard to understand you. Most people here are not trying to piss you off; they are trying to give you advise based on their (our) beliefs and they way we live our lives. The simple fact of the matter is that every person reading this, if in your shoes, would be trying to find a way to get help, rather than simply preparing to be homeless. While I guess your choice makes sense to you, it does not make sense to any of us. Again, not one is trying to hurt you or aggravate you. We just have a hard time understanding your choices.

      Good luck.

Think about it, evey single person that posted on your blog live a better life than you, and probably had been for decades. The only thing this diverse group of people have in common, is that they are not you. So where do u think the problem lies, and what need to be fixed?

    7. Tony, You are nothing like Cutter. Cutter supports himself, pays his bills, and takes the time to try to help others (i.e. you). He is not scrambling for housing, food or medical care. He works hard at his craft, always looking for new +EV opportunities, he does not rely on others do to this for him. If his activities are not successful, he carefully examines what happened to determine if there is anything he can do to improve the outcome or if it is simply variance. He does not stop learning or studying his craft. He does not blame others. He has bankroll management rules he follows.

THIS SHIT IS ALL IN YOUR HEAD!!!! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT PUBLIC HOUSING IS LIKE IN VEGAS AND YOU'VE ALREADY ADMITTED THAT TO ME. You're scare right now, I'm sure. That's understandable. But the image you have of public housing (sharing a room with some mass murderer???) is not based in reality.

Here's an article from 2009 on the changes to the Southern Nevada Housing Authority:

"During the next five to 10 years, the newly-formed Southern Nevada Housing Authority plans to reduce about 850 public housing apartments to rubble, changing the lives of thousands of people. The complex plan includes replacing those apartments with mixed-income, low-density houses. Some public housing tenants will move into those houses. Many others, like Hampton-Earl, will use the federal Section 8 voucher program to rent wherever landlords accept the vouchers. And a minority — up to 30 percent in other places where public housing has been demolished — will not be eligible for vouchers. They will have to move into what little public housing remains in the valley or find places on their own."

The idea that you will relocate to CA and find it EASIER to get assistance than it will be right now, as a resident of Nevada, who already has filed an SSI claim and has already been assigned a pro-bono lawyer, is delusional. It's crazy thinking. You'll have to start from scratch there and you'll be starting in one of the hardest hit states with the deepest cuts in state budgets. That would be absolutely crazy, Tony.

Get your ass down to that appointment at 7:30AM tomorrow. Show up at 7:00. Stay the fucking night there. If you don't follow through on this, you'll be homeless. You'll be homeless in California, which has a much higher percentage of people who make you uncomfortable. CA is 39.4% white. Nevada is 52.9% white. AND, think about all the homosexuals in CA!!! All xenophobic/homophobic fears aside, it's a horrible idea to move to CA.

Of course, you have agency over your life, and no one is going to force you to stay in Nevada. You say that no one who says you can get a job and govt. assistance is being realistic or "all there mentally." Remember that you're including your lawyer in that group. He knows the system FAR better than you or I or anyone else on this board, as he works with it every day. He said to you in that meeting that going through the mental health agency could get you a case manager, a job, housing, food stamps, and SSI, all through that one office. Why do you think that the pro-bono lawyer, who works with such offices daily, would lie to you or would be mentally unbalanced? Don't you think there is a FAR greater likelihood that it's YOU who has the unbalanced perspective on this?

Again - you're a grown man and you can make your own decisions. In my opinion, based on attending the meeting with your lawyer and being somewhat familiar with community service organizations, you would be making a horrifically bad decision in running away and not following through with the actions you've begun in Nevada. But, this is America, and one is allowed the freedom to make horrifically bad decisions...

    Best of luck,

    s.i.

Tony certainly pushes the limits of any restraint I may normally have. I'm a patient man in my daily life, but I'll admit to struggling where Tony is concerned. I don't typically work directly with addicts and my knowledge there is theoretical. The reality of it can really boggle my mind.

I'm letting go of the idea of Tony getting help, at least until things get much worse. I guess he hasn't hit bottom yet. He simply wants more money for gambling and isn't wanting any resource that doesn't immediately feed that monkey, imo.

I do feel for some of the folks on this board who have helped him far more than me. It's frustrating to see that help go to waste. Perhaps there will be some long term gain that is not obvious yet.

Stop pretending you know everything despite never trying anything.

    3. Tony:

You be making ish up, yo. They don't force you to share a room with others!!!! That's in your head. All in your head.

I'm letting go of this idea of you getting help. You don't seem to want it. You are throwing up roadblocks to each offer of support.

Tony gonna do what Tony gonna do. My role is to accept that.

  25. going to Cali is the dumbest thing Tony can do. Every time he goes there in the past 5 years he has lost. It would be amazing if he would truly listen to someones advice and follow through

  28. Tony is, and always will be, too mentally challenged to get it. Helping him is a waste of time. There are a lot of good people out there who deserve help, and he just isn't one of them. Had he actually followed up with Nevada mental health, Steven and I were going to leave him the keys to our condo. It's paid until August 1st, bit we have to deal an event in tunica on the 17th, so we're leaving Sunday. I wasn't going to run the risk of telling Tony, only to have him lie and use us, then leave town.

On a side note, we have a kitchen stocked with food also. I'm going to cook today and tomorrow, but are there any food banks we could donate the rest to when we leave?

I'll still read the ocassional blog posts he'll figure out how to get up. At least until he's killed in his sleep by another homeless person. Such a shame. He could have really rebuilt his roll and gotten a free apartment and food stamps and medical care here in Vegas. Now it's game over.

Because I no longer have ANY interest in helping Tony, I will make sure the WSOP floor who work at Commerce and the Bike when they're not with us, are well aware of the blog and what to expect from Mr. Bigcharles. I know it's hard to imagine it, but most of us who work in the industry, feel casinos are a terrible terrible place for those with dangerous addictions and rage issues. Not to mention potential untreated infections.

    Good luck, TBC.

    1. Jennifer I would recommend Catholic Charities. Their charity is secular and you can designate it for homeless.

  29. So Long Tony Bigcharles. Its been informative I have learned how not to grind poker for a living. I am a recreational player who has a roof over my head. I have a car. I have some money in the bank. I am not upset with ideas about people and how I should be treated. Its a pretty boring life. I do not feel good or better then you. My life could have turned out the same. It seems your freedom comes at a very high price. I hope nothing happens to you in Vegas or California that ends up hurting you. I know you think you are doing what is right for you.

  33. Tony's "freedom" seems to mean worry, stress, eating things that barely passes for food to eat with little nutritional value just to beg for little pity stakes in games that are jokes. At what point do you say wait a second it is A LOT MORE work avoiding work than actually getting a job and going to work????? Lets be honest Tony you seem as if you would have no problem begging another man to wipe your ass if it wasnt for the fear of it trigging you into some sort of homosexual tendencies you apparently have put in your past??

  34. It seems as if at some point Tony would realize it is a lot more work AVOIDING work than it is to actually get a job and go to work. All the stress , uncertainty , eating garbage food with no real nutritional value while begging in hopes of pity stakes for games that are jokes. At what point do you realize this and look to a hopeful future rather than a delusional past that led you to failure that you seem to claim as some sort of dellusional road to success with some small potholes???

  35. finally managed some small win at the Venetian, Vince was willing to let me get some sleep at his house, going to sleep now dead tired, with a roll of $955. Vince also claimed he saw Claudia and she was in town for a few days, but is back home in NY and now has a fulltime nondealing job. and talked about how no one could understand my hesitation in seeking mental health services.

    2. Tony:

It's not that we can't UNDERSTAND your hesitation. It's that we are able to weigh the underlying reasons for your hesitation (fear of the unknown, xenophobia, lack of control, trust issues, etc...) against the very concrete dangers inherent in being homeless.

I shared with you the life expectency for homeless. That was national data - I'm guessing it's even lower in Vegas due to the elements and the higher crime/drug/mental illness among homeless in urban centers. Essentially, that data suggests you wouldn't survive on the streets more than a couple years.

So, while we may UNDERSTAND your hesitancy, we do not find it rational in light of the overall picture. I think it's YOU who do not understand the bigger picture.

Your lawyer laid out all the necessary steps, Tony. I was there. He told you what you need to do to get food, health care, a home, a job, the ability to earn enough to build a roll...a pathway to a life free from the stress and anxieties that haunt you, a pathway to building a life that would be more attractive towards the woman you really want, a pathway to the respect you really want, a pathway to independence.

It's all right there in front of you. But ya ain't takin' it, is ya? As one among many who root for you to help yourself, it's frustrating to observe, Tony.

  36. trying to fall back to sleep at vinces house, after short 3 hour nap, but what i really want to know is, is there anywhere in the USA offering $2-4 omaha8 on a daily basis? all im seeing is higher stakes omaha. and also, an asian guy at my table from Napa Valley said that i should try and be a prop in cali, he said he couldnt understand why i wanted to know about smaller limit omaha games since in his words, i was an excellent player and could easily beat 15-30. he also was pretty tight.

    1. 2/4 o8 isn't beatable. I realize that doesn't matter to you, but it does matter to others which is why you wont find it.

    2. This is the same Tony that lamented the lack of availability of 1 cent vbj and thus his inability to have a 70,000 unit roll once he got down to $700. Rationality isn't his strong point.

    3. Hard Rock Tampa has 3/6 Omaha/8 with a kill everyday, 1 to 3 games a day along with 1-5 stud but they added .50 ante to that.
Comps are .60/hour for games below 2/5NL.

      Delete
    4. Tony, why don't you put together a bankroll and start playing higher Omaha games?

    5. Do you even understand what a prop player is, and is expected to do? First off, nobody would ever hire you for that job. Second, if somebody lost their mind and did, you wouldn't last a day at it.

      Delete
    6. Props bring players to games. Tony drives them away. Fail.

      Delete
  37. No casino will hire you to prop. You look bad, you smell bad, you're homeless and you're terrible for the game. People routinely leave games because of you.

If you were "excellent" at the game as that guy suggested, you wouldn't be homeless.

The best game selections, public transportation and housing availability are in Vegas. Period. You always realize this AFTER you leave, but aren't smart enough to remember it when you're running away.

2/4 O8 isn't beatable. But you know everything. Anything else?

Oh yeah, get help through the mental health center.
