$40 NL at the commerce

well the roll is up to $1099, but it didnt come easily. sometimes i had to rebuy 2-3 times or more and sweat it out. but yeah, i have gained back over $200 by taking most peoples advice and playing $40 NL instead of omaha8. they claim the rake and the variance is too big in omaha

Instead of taking the advice of random people on my blog, who do not get a substantial part of their income from poker, i need to listen to people in the same boat as me, or at least who do get a large part of their income off of poker. People like the young guy who used to play higher and online a lot back in the day who was at my table a couple of times and stood up for me when another guy was making fun of me. (hes been in the same boat before). some woman did him wrong and his roll got destroyed. and also my phone got briefly charged with his charger, but its not charged up very much, but maybe enough to get a picture in the spa. ever see a lounge chair out by the pool where u lay on it like a bed? thats similar to the chairs in the spa i said are more like beds. pillows are included too. also i wish lester would use his detective skills to find 24 hour spas u are allowed to sleep in in other areas. seems theres a Korean one called spa world up in Maryland but i need ones thats not too far from poker rooms.

i think people who told me the $40 NL is beatable and the smallest game in cali that is beatable were right. sometimes theres a lot of chips on the table for a max buyin of $40, ($20-60 if rebuying). maybe i wasted too much time around Sycuan trying to beat unbeatable games due to fear. and thats why i am off to a slow start. maybe now that i am up to 27 buyins i shouldnt be as afraid to play $40 NL anymore.

Been having a pretty good track record in it anyway. a lot of winning sessions in a row, although sometimes been in for 3 or more buyins. but its nice to have the option of multiple tables of it open all 24 hours of the day. and i got a pretty good long sleep today in the spa. seems i always do much better when not having to commute back and forth. would think theyd probably limit how many days in a row u can stay at the spa though.

who can find out where the video is posted that an unknown reader took of me from 2+2 outside of HG? maybe steve can post more about him to help us discover who he is.

how much money do i need to return to vegas and go back to where i was paying weekly and grinding out the games back home? and does WEC still honestly think i do better there overall than in the games out in cali? why have there been less comments on the blog as of late? and guys i still need assistance in selling ads. selling ads is like telemarketing, so its a real job.

yeah the decisions i made a year ago, mostly 2 yrs ago when i was throwing away the nice roll in games i shouldnt have played are whats killing me today, its sure not been the decisions i made in the past 3 months. (except for a few such as the day i lost $400 playing shorthanded omaha at the suncoast--gotta avoid short games like the plague). i think the reason i kept making so many bad decisions way back when was i wasnt seeing any negative effects from them at the time, so i just kept right on making them. the negative effects came in way down the road. even when losing $1000 i still felt happy when i had many more thousand left, far more happier than i feel now when i lose a $40 buyin. now i just want to murder someone, but of course, im nonviolent so this would never happen.

one nicer thing about playing in cali is the players are so much worse, i dont have to play as well to win, and this is really making it easier on me. this is why i find wec and his logic hard to understand as to why these games arent better for me. i think the reason the last years got tougher for me in vegas was the games got tougher. this was especially the case for online

mc gee said southpoint should come up soon. any word WSOP2007, on whats up about that? and i still really could use reading glasses, so i can see to read all these poker magazines that print too tiny.

anyone got a good spare laptop battery? lenovo model #1299, SN WB02 456 220

  2. Priceline express deals list the following for Temecula:

2.5 Star $61 (my guess this is Quality Inn Temecula Valley Wine Country)
2 star $56 (my guess this is Ramada or Best Western)
1 star $51 (the one stars might be Rancho California Inn, Motel 6, or Rodeway Inn Temecula)

The properties are betwen 3.5 and 6 miles from the casino. If you place a bid for $40 one of these properties in the range of 3.5 to 6 miles from the casino may accept your bid. I know nothing of spas in California....

    1. but if its a few miles away, the bus might not go by it, so not really worth that risk. name ur own price is better for areas with more access to public transit. this is always my fear, being put in a place i cant get to without a high cost. $40 is about at the top of what id pay, $1200 a month is way too much everyday, id prefer a place charging $45 that would accept a bid of $26

  4. contrary to what FSM claims, in the old comments section, we all know that Jean was NOT what destroyed the bankroll. the bankroll was already destroyed and down to under $2000. it got destroyed not in Jean, but in Tahoe, Laughlin, and vegas from $15k to $2k, long before Jean, and it certainly wasnt detroyed from playing the ONLY plus EV VBJ machine i played that year.

    1. Tony, you were flat out miserable when you were last in Jean. Do you not remember your blog post titled: (i'm paraphrasing) "HELP! Get me the hell out of here!"

    2. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt

If you're so proud of your +EV VBJ machine play, give us the stats. Show us how much you won in Jean. Go back and add up the numbers in your blog posts. You were down overall there, and eating canned beans and spicy doritos and begging for rides to go do laundry

      As for:
and guys i still need assistance in selling ads. selling ads is like telemarketing, so its a real job.

Its not a real job when you're begging other people to do it for you. It's just another form of e-begging on your part, along with pay my cell phone pay my internet and buy me a new battery. You cannot fend for yourself whatsoever. How long has it been since you paid your own $200 a month in fixed expenses? Was there a connection to your fulltime move to Jean?

      Delete
    3. doesnt matter than i lost money playing VBJ in Jean, since the amount i lost was so much less than what paying rent wouldve cost me for the same housing, it was still +ev. had i stayed in vegas instead of relocating to Jean, id been far worse off today, i think all the readers but u can see that. id still been unable to have paid that $200 in expenses for those bills that got shut off. and of course that isnt my expenses, my actual expenses are about 5x that.

      Delete
    4. With a free place to stay and $20 a week in canned food and doritos, your roll was still plummeting south in Jean. And that was with other people taking turns paying your two monthly bills for you.

But living in denial and not making any effort to improve your life is working out great for you, so keep it up.

      Delete
    5. so what if the roll was plummeting south about $30 a week? thats still a lot better than having to pay for housing somewhere which i wouldve had to do if i wasnt playing VBJ. the only better solution than staying in Jean wouldve been to have came to cali a lot sooner.

the only problem with being in Jean was at the time, back when i had internet, i didnt spend nearly enough time on SWC, didnt deposit enough to work with on SWC, and wasted a few hundred on VP instead of only playing VBJ. a few minor adjustments wouldve had a significant difference in my overall results. and of course, i ran so below average on the good counts at VBJ, the math odds says its highly unlikely id run the same on the next visit.

and also the other problem, i didnt have enough of a bankroll to spread the bets wide enough, and ive still got that problem now, which is why i should wait til ive got over $2k to go back there.

and it took me a long time to realize it, but Cutter was right about the fact i shouldnt play 5 hands. that did skyrocket the variance too much. but 1 hand is too slow, 2-3 hands is still the best. Cutter will never know i said he was right unless someone tells him because he dont read the blog comments.

    6. If the roll was plummeting south by $30.00 weekly, or $120.00 monthly, how long would you be able to sustain that level of loss? What would offset that loss and turn your trend towards the black?

You need a frickin' plan, Tony. Getting SSI or a job is a plan. Even coming up with additional ad revenue is a plan - a way to offset your expenses.

But, of course, your current plan is to avoid having a plan.

I understand all that.

But please know that you are almost certainly coming NO WHERE CLOSE to making more at what you're doing now than you would be if you had followed your lawyer's advice. Maybe you are a better player than people have giving you credit for. It just takes one bad run and your bankroll will be below say $ 500.00. I know it seems you are making progress but unless you get really hot your bankroll seems to run between $ 800 and $ 1500. But why would i store anything there anyway? its about $8-10 a day at a bus station, and also a large cost getting there and back. would be about $750 a month to store at a bus station and a lot of hassle. so do u know how dumb u make urself look to everyone reading the blog?? suggest something sensible. thats what monthly storage lockers are used for, and those are about $50 a month

sad thing is, they wont rent to u without proof of a home address, at least that was the case many years ago when i tried to rent one. they are too afraid people will try to sleep in them. so what i need is someone to rent one for me, and of course i will pay them DOUBLE what they are paying in rent instead of expecting them to do it free. so if anyone in the area wants to help someone else out and make a bit of money in the process let me know. i think there is one thats an easy walk from commerce not far away that would be quite convenient.

Perhaps my own ignorance kept me from seeing just how dumb FSM looks to everyone reading your blog. I do know you look like an ass, IMO, when you respond to posters in such a way, simply for asking a harmless question.

I know you ride the buses frequently, so it probably seems to you that most people must be familiar with the details associated with that mode of transport. But I think I only have one friend who I KNOW has ridden a grayhound bus within the last decade. A great many people now fly, instead of using the bus. I know there are class issues enmeshed in this topic, but try to remember that a lot of people are unfamiliar with the types of things you deal with everyday - myself included. I suggest you find a cheap motel to rest your weary soul at. Your gambling goal daily should be just to pay your daily rent, food & expenses. Anything won over that budget should be saved for better living down the road. It will do you a lot of good to have a home base to work from. I did this when I was down and out in Dallas,TX back in the 80's. I had a job and company vehicle, but lived in a cheap hotel for 3 months while I saved enough for a decent apartment. You owe it to yourself to take better care of yourself. If you start to respect your self it will take you a long way.

the way i help myself is by trying to become as good at poker as possible, and get the hours in as well as i am still able. thats pretty much all i should focus on. Am certainly worthy of help because once i get to the point im well enough off not to be worried about myself ever again, id be doing the same for others, but of course be selective about it, id want them to see things somewhat like me and not waste the money on things i call wasteful. certainly wouldnt have a problem backing other poker players if i had money.

    4. Most go to college to learn how to get a good job. You want to go in order to avoid working. Big difference.

    5. Your old SAT scores are not good anymore. If you really want to go to college the best thing for you would be online classes imo (no social interaction, you move around all the time, etc.) You prob could get some LOANS that you would have to pay back but in order to get those you have fill out a FAFSA and you will need tax return info etc so good luck with that/contact a schools fin aid office for help.

    6. I hate even reading this stuff since I work in higher education. Tony has MORE than ample opportunity to avail himself of governmental assistance that was set up for people who need it - like him. However, he will not do anything that requires any effort at all or any slight inconvenience.

The notion of Tony going to school is totally ridiculous. His lack of focus or motivation toward anything but gambling would not allow him to succeed in any educational endeavor at this point. Financial Aid is not meant to be another government giveaway for people looking for handouts. It is to help people get an education so that they may become a viable part to the work force. People scamming the system only makes it worse for people who really depend upon the system to go to school.

    7. the only reason ,we r talking about college is bcuz he sees free money.his whole outlook on life is a job is 4 suckers or "slaves" as he says. it just sounds better to say he is a poker player than say i am over 40 with no jobs skills and am lazy. reality sucks, huh

  23. So, let's get this straight.
You don't want a job that "feels" like a job.
You left school all those years ago, despite having a scholarship, because you felt under pressure and couldn't do what you wanted to do....after giving it your best shot for, cough, 2 or 3 days.
You fear that spending a bus fare or a small amount of money to collect the last of your few possessions will put you on tilt.
Life is not a grace and favour freeroll, one has to set goals and achieve them, plan for the future and demonstrate being capable of being reliable, dedicated, productive, competent, responsible and well respected before one can consider themselves professional in ANY field.
After 20 odd years of being a "professional" poker player....you have done nothing in the way of securing a future for yourself. You have made no provisions for your health care nor a retirement fund, your basic needs are not even met, no home, no furniture, no refrigerator filled with food, no comfy bed of your own. You have not provided for your only child. You do not help ensure the care of your elderly mother.
You keep mentioning college, (you tried that already remember), so, I'm guessing....and it's just a wild stab in the dark here, all you want is the college loan, once that loan is granted, you plan to pop it into your sock roll, will then claim college is too hard, too many restrictions, you have to study and it interferes with your sleep and doesn't grant you the freedom you need to play poker.
Who do you suppose will house and care for you in your retirement years? Do you think it will be the responsibility of the working public to provide for you after you wasted your whole youth chasing a pipe dream?
