how do i get rid of the curse?

yeah i just cannot ever win overall at the stratosphere--or is it vegas as a whole now? have the games gotten that bad? even a broke friend of mine is now posting on his blog how his bankrolls finally over $1000 better off than mine. im waking up with only about $2070. lost 3 out of 4 days, and only won the first day because of making over $250 off a straight flush.

there were both some really bad players at my table, and some really good regs, seemed almost no one was in between. Vince was watching a while, kind of drunk, got into a dispute with 2 others at the table and the dealer made him leave, really getting him pissed off, and his gf drove him home so hed be ok. he was there to deliver my laundry, but forgot the gift card. i went over there later to sleep, and am waking up now. i had to pay him $15 for that laundry too.

yeah i really dont feel i have enough to travel to cali (and be without housing) dont feel i should go back to Jean--but my god--how do i win with only 20 buyins of only $100 here in vegas. i do see the people who buyin for $300 (and thats quite a lot of them) seem to be the ones always winning. which goes to show having money helps more than having skill over the long run.

Seattle Irish wouldve loved that game--but he like mom, has taken me off facebook, and wont say why, unless it was cause my mom took him off facebook. he never will hang out anymore either just like PokerJohnny, but at least pokerjohnny still has me on facebook. even Grouchie does, and he never hung out. But Grouchie did something a whole lot worse--i dont see me listed on his blog anymore.

i was in for 4 buyins last night, totalling $312, and at one point late in the night i finally started getting big pairs big cards and they were holding up. got all the way back to $295, and when i left the game, i had only $131. mostly in 1 hand. i had QK spades (theres bonuses for hi hands) flop comes JT spades 7offsuit. so im forced to call all bets. not only that the games just because way too shorthanded, (5 of us) where i do far worse. i bet $2, guy bets $15, guy bets $45, i call, other guy calls. turn comes 6. i check, other guy checks, guy goes allin $75, i call praying the other guy dont raise, he calls. river Q, we both check. and the allin guy wins with 2 pair.

the hands i did win, i think i bet too much on the end and didnt get called. maybe i shouldve bet less. i dont remember any other hand details. i forget things too fast, and still have no charger for that cell. if i could, id take a picture of annes cat and dog which are over here. but cant without a charger. and i really have no idea what im going to do.

  3. I think skill overcomes luck but in the long run you have to be careful. Obviously, tony has always like 20 the min buy in but if you scout for better action in other places. No one talk about Vegas back east like they used too. With the states allowing internet gambling and the new casino's in the last five years the WSOP and so called pro's travel all over the place now. Vegas is bascially for bracelet events anymore. Florida has more card rooms than Nevada now for last of the American pensions. That generation is a dying breed. You have about 10 years left of baby boomers bank rolls in florida.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Vegas is mainly for main events now a days. In the last 5 years so many places have added a new casino. The reason casino's are everywhere now is so the state can collect the SSI and SSDI checks locally. The baby boomers are also the last of the pension generation. Many are giving back the entire pensions at these casino's. I am sure that Florida also has more card rooms now then Vegas. I may need to travel to vegas in the future to collect at least a Seven Card Stud bracelet one day or a H.O.R.S.E. bracelet. The truth is that there is power in numbers. This being said you need to combine your thoughts and enter many tourney's that will get you farther than grinding out a no limit hold em bust out game. Don't get me wrong T.V. and Hold em did bring back poker but that is all it did. That is a bust out game and not meant to be played grinding daily and playing the screws. With hold em no limit set up the way it is you very seldom are able to see truely good plays. Just people getting out of jail in a 2 card showdown.

  9. Tony, your skill at poker is the number 1 reason why you can't make it as a professional poker player. You could make money in 2005 when you could play at 80% of the Vegas rooms. You can't make money in 2014 when you can play at 10% of them.

Couple of weeks ago, a good friend was hurt and wanted to know why I had unfriended her. I hadn't. Some glitch in Facebook did it all by itself. Twitter is notorious for spontaneously and apparently randomly unfollowing people. If you don't know that it was a deliberate action, consider that it might have been just such a hiccup in the system.

  11. " so im forced to call all bets."

Really? If you have a straight flush draw, they send somebody around to the table, put a gun to your head, and MAKE you call? Wow.

You always have choices, Tony, even though for some reason I'll never understand you like to make it sound as if you don't.

Why not push the action yourself instead of playing passively? If I flop an open-ended straight-flush draw, I'm happy to get all my chips in the middle. Calling runs the risk of not getting any action after either draw hits, because it's so obvious what you might have.

    2. im sad to be honest and report the truth--u wont like it--as to why i played that hand as i did. for one thing, i was sick and tired of playing, and id just got back to only being stuck $17 instead of over $200--and wanted to quit. and i just wanted to see the hand down to the river dirt cheap to avoid getting stuck BIG again. and the 2nd wrong reason, i wanted to make sure i seen ALL 5 cards, one of which wouldve gave me $250, and one of which wouldve gave me $500 had i hit the open ended hi hand draws. wrong reasons i know. and also i was worried id lose a shitload, knew they wouldnt fold, and also seen the 7 of spades in the one guys hand. so i worried about a set, or an ace hi flush draw. what would u do--if u knew one of the raisers cards was the 7 of spades?

      Delete
    3. 7s being out changes essentially nothing. It means you have 14 outs instead of 15. That's still plenty to get all your money in.

Trying to hit the straight flush is idiotic. Only 2 cards will do that, which means your probability (on the flop) is only about 4% even if you see both turn and river. A 4% probability for a $500 bonus means that it's only about $20 of value. Winning the pot is much more valuable than that. If you win it by shoving and nobody calls, fine. If you win it by somebody calling and hitting an out, even better. If you get your money in good and lose, so be it.

You've been told this a thousand times, but you refuse to change: Playing differently depending on whether you're stuck or not is moronic and self-destructive. You will never really get ahead in poker until you let go of this stupid obsession to never have a losing day.

      Delete
    4. him having that 7 of spades--meant there was a strong chance of him having a set--greatly reducing my outs--or him having a pair with ace hi flush draw--essentially making my hand worth far less-so why wouldnt i want to get to the river cheaply?

      Delete
    5. Even if you KNEW he had a set, you'd still be 42% to win at the flop. (This is calculated against just one opponent, since you didn't say what the other guy had.) You said that he won with 2 pair. Given his aggression, I'm guessing he flopped 2 pair. So let's assume he had -Q. In that case, you were 62% to win on the flop. So if you can be confident that he has either 2 pair or a set, split the difference, and you're about 50/50, which is fine--especially when there's a third player putting chips in.

Of course you didn't tell us preflop action. I bet you limped, right? Which is why he was in there with a Q-7 or whatever. Had you raised preflop with suited KQ, you might well have won the pot right then.

Again, you've been told this a thousand times, but you never change: When you're scared, or ahead, or have just gotten unstuck, you play passively, and it costs you a ton of money.

      Delete
    6. Tony, if you knew he had the 7 of spades, then you should have told the table his card was exposed.

Having said that, you need to make the decision whether to play for your whole stack or not on the flop. There was a raise and a reraise, you are not going to be able to see the river without putting the rest in on the turn anyways. Putting money in while you have 2 cards to come is better than putting the rest in on the turn, when you would still be drawing most of the time.

      Delete
    7. By the way, if you want to play scared money, that is fine (well, not really, but let's just say it is). Then you should fold on the flop. There is a possibility you are facing an Ace high flush draw and a big made hand. Just dump it and look for a better spot. Calling for 1/3 of your stack and putting the rest in on the turn, is the worst way to play that hand given your stack size.

  19. Tony,

Found this on the Internet - thought it might be helpful. I figure - hell - if you believe in sky-fairies, you'll believe in anything. Good luck.

Curses & Hexes DIY Removal Spell
Get a piece of wax paper or another kind of strong paper.

Write on it carefully what you know about the curses/hexes, like who cast them, or where they came from, and/or when this started (the date). If you don't know any details, just write "My two curses or hexes" on the paper so that we all know what this for and what it's going to do.
Place three spoon-fulls of salt (rock salt, or sea salt, or just ordinary table salt) into the paper and make a bundle out of it that you can tie to a piece of string.
Wear it over your heart for three days and three nights.
The salt will draw out the curses or hexes and take them into itself.
On the morning of the fourth day, open the package, and let water wash the salt away. You can do this in a river or by an ocean shore, scatter it outside when it is raining hard, or simply in your sink if you have no access to flowing water elsewhere.
Burn the paper and the string.
Wear a rose quartz pendant or a healing or lucky charm you already own over the heart for 9 days after that, so that whatever was damaged by the presence of the curse or hex gets healed and restored, and your defense systems grow strong again.

Then do the hokey-pokey and turn your self around.

    That oughtta do it.

It seems your losing 15%-18% of your bank roll when you lose there. This means your basically 6-7 losing trips away from going broke. I thought i trained you better than that. Tony you need to emotionally detach from the machines and money. You are basically letting evil spirits get the most of your anxiety and emotions in jean. Detach your feelings about odds and video blackjack. Go back and face things your afraid of that may have you clinging to that bad habbit. In time as you come out of that you will see that appologizing to family or anything that may have hurt will heal you from other things like aimless gambling when your trying to make a low limiit living.
