I'm sitting here in the Commerce at the table naked

or at least i feel that way without my smartphone. (the one only useful for accessing the web). why do i always either leave those (or the chargers) behind in poker rooms or hotel rooms? Cant believe i didnt think about it til AFTER i was on the bus to los angeles, or id have turned around and got it even if it wouldve caused me to have purchased a $16.75 ticket for nothing. i called the stratosphere, and they are holding it behind the desk in the poker room for me to pick up upon my return.

and Vinces mom and his sister are coming into town Jan 17-25 so no room is available at his house then. so if i am in town to see lightning, ill have to pay for a week somewhere else.

well, the roll is back up to $2188 so far after 3 winning sessions off a $40 buyin. i dont know why i win here, and the long term average cannot be sustained here over the long run. and also i heard the rake at HP is $6 (where they have aa cracked) instead of the $3.50 here at the commerce, so that kind of defeats the purpose of going there.

but yeah, ive had 0 losses so far, cashed out $95 off $40 once, $101 off $40, and then $86 off $40. i would like to know how rich id be today, how much healthier my scalp and i would be, had i spent most of the last 10 yrs in cali away from all the VP machines, and just done nothing but grinded poker in loose action games. surely id have at least $25-75k. and a nice apt too, thats if the wrong woman and her bf wouldnt have set me up.

yeah i was getting worried for awhile in vegas when down to the 1700s and im still worried--a lot can still go wrong, ive nowhere to stay--got 6 hours sleep today in the spa--and ive got to return very soon to pick up a phone and to see lightning. But i think if id have spent most of the last few years here instead of vegas life wouldve been a lot different. remember i didnt start dropping the $15k until i left cali for reno, rented a place for $1200 to move in for a month, and started playing machines at the GSR. thats where i got all my contracts, and then went to Tahoe and lost heavily in bigger games.

no idea who the guy was who said he knew me from the Bellagio $1-5 stud 20 yrs ago and asked me for my cell, hoping it wasnt one of the trolls on RTP. he was with his kid and staying at the Commerce hotel. would kind of like to take the rest of the night off instead of playing 10 more hours, go relax in a hotel and play on bovada or seals, but ive got no money left online and no room either. nor any cricket internet paid for if i did. im using the commerce wifi. also i know its a sample size of 1, but the spa seems to pick up a much clearer wifi signal than in the past.

    2. well since you didn't say that in your posting I had no way to know. Once again I make an offer to you TBC and get declined. So I am now done offering you anything

    3. i ended up turning down her offer too--its a lot easier on me just to pick it up there instead of having to coordinate with someones schedule when i return--or to have a friend do it whose going to be driving to los angeles anyway. but i dont think i can--or should stay--really i dont know anywhere i should be playing with this little money except online from KS. theres a huge difference no one really realizes or believes between $1900 and $2900 unless theyre in the same boat as me-no car--no assets--no income--no home. if they are--theyd understand.

  3. wasted the entire night trying to get back from getting stuck over $138 at one point, im now right around even from the final session of 9 hours, but had a small win earlier in the night. so im now in the $2100s it will be slow grinding it out, i knew ive ran way above EV in the past. but of course, no way in hell will i play anything higher than $40 NL.

  4. I can tell you right off that you've been running way above EV at $40NL @Commerce. People will shove with ridiculous hands at those tables, but will also call down and luck out. I would jump to 100NL there on a Saturday or Sunday, but never a weekday evening.

    1. So you think people shoving ridiculous hands reduces EV? Stop posting.

    2. I think Edgie was referencing Tony's pretty remarkable run @ Commerce, where he really hasn't reported tasting any of the down side of variance yet.

It's certainly +EV to have calling stations and hyper-agro shoves, but it also induces variance - and so far, Tony hasn't been on the losing side of that.

Tony's run like a god in Cali, which is fantastic and I hope it continues until the day Tony draws his last breath. But, that's doubtful.

      p.s. - I like Edgie's posts.

    3. Sorry sbr. I'm going to keep posting - If you haven't played the 40NL tables or played in CA (you cant buy in for more than 40BB anywhere unless you play 5/5 or higher), it stands to reason that a standard raise at 1/2 40NL is 1/4 of your stack, and I think TBC can attest that there are multiple all-ins at least twice per orbit - if that isn't luckbox variance, I don't know what is.

  5. I dunno, Tony, sounds like you should just stay in L.A. and build up the roll. I can always catch you on my next trip.

  7. Are you banned at Station Casinos? i only played there for about 1/2 a day and I get flyers in the mail for free weeknights every month. Why don't you go there?

    1. i DO spent a ton of time at various station casinos, but i dont get mail from them or from anyone else in the world. im sure u play a lot more than just poker, or have in the past if u are getting these too. also a lot of places are more quick to send offers to those they never see than people who come in anyway.

  8. new roll $1604 ive lost over $200 a day both the last 2 days, and tonight i was stuck over $100, and left the game when stuck only $44 to take a break. its not been good at all, i knew i couldnt sustain my record in cali. now i dont know where to go. i heard about PLO8 being offered on UP now, but its ONLY at 5c10c limits, and as we all know one big bet an hour is all that world class pros expect to win over the long run of 1000+ hours of play, so is anything where the MAX win possible being 10c per hour actually something anyone seriously considers? yeah i want to play small, but i consider 25c50c small, not just 5c10c, and at least on stars i could play up to 4 games at a time. hardly any players at all on UP, and that will continue to get worse as more sites open up. only real solution is bovada or seals if theyd ever gain a wider following. i am also curious how party pokers business in NJ is going.

    1. Tony I played the plo8 on up and action was decent think the max buy is $5 or $10 I got in a flip for $60 and lost game can be beat for a lot more than ten cents a hour. Avg stack was maybe $20 pretty much all the same players both times I played. You should at least try it out.

    2. No, you didn't know that you couldn't continue running way above EV in California. Other people knew that, and told you that, but you didn't know that. That's why you went there.

You don't even care if a game is + or - EV. You just care about gambling, and finishing every day with more money than you started.

Also, lol that 1 big blind/hour is all a successful pro expects to earn at PLO.

    3. Nick--how could u have played on UP without making another trip back to vegas? this is fairly new on UP--let me know if u go back to NV--u sure werent playing online from cali.

    4. I went to Reno on the first and second when I had a couple days off work with my girlfriend. I played it from my hotel room at the silver legacy only played two sessions think I broke about even. I will tell you if I plan on going to Vegas.

    5. Tony, that one big bet per hour figure refers to limit holdem, probably around the mid-stake level (you know, 10/20 or 20/40). I don't know how accurate that is, and even if it is accurate, it has little semblance to possible win rate at NLHE and PLO, and at lower stakes that you play in. Online also allows for multi-tabling.

  9. finally cut tonights loss down to only $2. but i still aint getting anywhere at all here in cali, came with a roll of $2069 and still only in the $1600s.

  10. You're in a tough spot, Tony.

The truth is, you can either beat the game of low level poker or you can't beat the game. You're not willing to help yourself out by pursuing a safety net, but I see you saying that you wish someone would give you a big "loan" to tide you over. I have to ask, what good would a "loan" do if you can't beat the game? Wouldn't a loan just extend the time until you go broke? A loan won't improve your skill at 1/2NL. A loan won't help you build the discipline needed to avoid your machine monkey.

So....what good would a loan do you, in the long run?
