over $3000 again

most of it was due to a good day at the stratosphere yesterday. won all around yesterday. made money at home on UP before i went to sleep, made money in all 3 sessions playing $1-2 NL at the stratosphere (with breaks to eat or get online in between) (vince didnt get off work til after 12pm at ceasers last night--and today is his last day dealing). and then got more money cashing in all my comp dollars at the players club desk and taking free play for them. u get less that way than if u get food, but more than if u take cash. and that gained me another $57 after running it through one time.

today i want to find out if circus sent me any offers this month in free rooms or free play, and now i feel good, still need to pay marchs phone bill before midnite on the 4th, but might try getting a phone with net again instead, just so i can use my smartphone again. but if i do that, ill have to switch numbers and companies.

so now im at $3088. and i still think cali is a better option than vegas--as long as i have a place to live. u see, i would never end up giving back a $40-50 win, because id always be able to move tables--and rebuy just $40. sometimes at the strat i dont want to quit when i should--because of the hour wait to come back in with $50. the commerce is a really big room. but i do want to be around vegas for the possibility of seeing snevman or donkeytax. he wrote me recently and i wrote him back. and my living expenses are really cheap here.

even on the strip close to the stratosphere they wouldnt be too bad, several places nearby with rents of way less than $200 a week. at least then id never need to depend on the bus or riding in anyones car. the good news is i think i might have enough to play $1-2 NL again, and i feel now finally i can beat $1-2 NL in vegas again, or also win a little on UP, more so than id win on the VBJ in Jean in the long run. also read an article in which plo8 full ring has less variance that plo hi (very hi variance) or less variance than NL, so u need LESS buyins. too bad i cant find that game live daily, some places on the east coast i think have it daily though.

i must however say im extremely disappointed in PPP. i thought he was a real friend, in spite of all his snide comments on PPP. yet he never was willing to find me and play $1-2 nl with me once, even when i offered to come to the V to make it easier for him.

  2. also keith mc donald, told me that he met personally with the silver rider bus, and he thinks the corporate office has now okayed it, and service to Jean should be up and running if it hasnt already. i need to call the city bus and find out.

  3. Tony,

Have you ever seen the movie "Groundhog Day" with Bill Murray? I think you would both enjoy and relate to the main character.

If you have not seen it let me know and I will get you a copy.

    Good luck,

    snevman

  4. id like to know exactly what my image is in poker, and then how to best take advantage of it. (by that i mean cause the other players to play against me INCORRECTLY--whether thats folding, betting, or calling.) ideas?

because ill be playing $1-2 NL very soon with $100 buyins instead of $50 buyins, so i got to be sure ill be playing my best.

    1. Tony, $4,000 by April 1st is a possibility. Keep at it! As far as your image, I suggest you play TWO HOURS without saying a word and only play premium hands. If you do this, you and everyone else at the table will know your image. After two hours you can start to morph.

    2. $4000 is not possible because the inevitable $1000 vbj tilt/loss is coming

    3. TBC- my opinion of you at the table is this. You talk so much about your small bankroll, and everyone hears it. So it is easier to bet into you knowing you play scared and will fold to aggression. Hell thats why i won every pot i have played against you. Both times we have played you have not won a pot. We have been heads up in 9 pots and all 9 I got you to fold.

    4. but i only fold when i dont have a hand. my stack is so short, i will shove anytime i got a decent piece of it (meaning u cant get me fold unless i miss). and if i said nothing, ud still play the same way against me--because u know me--not because i talk at the table. if u didnt know me--u wouldnt play this way--regardless if i spoke or not.

folding when u miss the flop--isnt playing scared. i hate the way people think theyre bluffing u off pots--when u have total air and they actually have better hands.

    5. also u have lost way more at the table than me over the years--im still ahead about $250k for 20+ years of playing. u told me u lost $2500 in the past week

    6. Tony:

The point of MIB's post was that when YOU talk at the table, YOU give away information. If YOU are talking about your roll, YOU give people information - and then they're likely to use that information (such as betting you off less than optimum hands).

Your point about folding everytime you don't hit highlights MIBs point. You stated that you're folding because you didn't hit and they have better hands; however, if you're folding everytime someone bets into you and you didn't hit, you are almost certainly also folding to worse hands. And, when you talk about your small roll and how worried you are about it, you encourage people to bet into you when they might have otherwise checked and allowed you to hit on the turn/river. You are giving away information and money.

I don't know how many times have we played together, but I can't think of a single time I've heard you talk at the table and been rewarded by it. You hurt yourself everytime - either by giving away information or by lecturing people and ruining an otherwise good table vibe.

Your best bet is to be quiet, play tight, and once you've established a nitty image and identified aggressive players who are making lots of steals, make a few WELL TIMED bluffs to pick up pots you wouldn't otherwise.

  7. I agree with the others in that talking at the table gives too much information. Play premium hands and get the tight image and then loosen up once you get the table figured out. Then when they think they have you figured out then change your style again. You know this stuff. Keep the bankroll building. Be smart with it.

  8. Tony -> I doubt you will ever listen to his advice but what SI wrote is the best advice you will ever receive in regards to how you play poker. please reread what he wrote OVER and OVER again. Every time you open your mouth at the table it costs you money. I'm not sure if you are capable of being quiet for any period of time, but know this is true. Good luck.
