Tonights freeroll tourny at the Riverside in Laughlin

am checking out of my room at the pioneer now and boarding my amtrak shuttle, so i no longer have to worry about anyone finding out im in laughlin (and messing up my plans to travel to KS to spend it with family). been so worried about this the last 2 nights. a big part of the twitter feed the last few days was misleading, but of course the people i sent emails to knew the truth, at least most of it, but not quite everyone i emailed. But the lions share of the "inner circle"

and ill be glad to be in ALBQ tomorrow afternoon, arriving mid afternoon, deciding now where to book the room for a week where the shuttle still picks up at, and will basically do the deciding while on the train, as long as my cricket wireless is active.

Earlier today i wasnt mad, for i started off today winning $153 on the Pioneer VBJ (making up for last nights $174 loss on it) and of course, at Riverside Laughlin i won $142 in last nights omaha8 game too. I really enjoyed the movie though the food cost a lot more than the movie and am thinking i really should go way more often. The story and the message in the movie "Gods not dead" was quite powerful and i can get at least some of u to go watch it, i wonder what i should offer as an incentive to achieve this. Mom suggested i go and see it, and im sure glad i did.

But heres the story on the dammed tourny. there were 5 tables of us, and when it gets down to 10, thats when deals and chops become suggested, otherwise it pays 5 spots, $500 for 1st, down to only $50 for 5th. many weeks im told its chopped even money at 10 players $100 each, but certainly not nearly all. To be fair to all, i really love the way the chop works here because to avoid anyone being unneccessarily needled or pressured, they give everyone 2 cards face down, one with the word YES on it, and one with the word NO, so the vote is by secret ballet. everyone pushes the card of their choice to the dealer, and those cards are shuffled to avoid knowing whose is whose. the other cards are also pushed in face down and collected, and then the dealers turns over the cards to see if any say NO on then. ive never ever heard of any other casino doing it this way. a lot of what the riverside does is great, very good promos there.

its not entirely a freeroll, u have about 20% of everyone elses stack if u dont take the $15 addon, so of course everyone takes it. i worry often about busting out early on, but somehow i keep surviving and make it to the final table but had to start shoving quite a bit, i was so often down to very few BB always less than 10, sometimes by quite a bit. blinds double rapidly every 15 minutes. 300-600 etc are not used. 1k 2k, 2k 4k, 4k8k, etc. so they get really huge quickly making the later rounds total crapshoots.

and almost every time i had the worst hand, (or my opponent had the worst hand against me) the worst hand was winning every time.

now at the end, this one guy who had a sizeable lead earlier didnt have so much of a lead at the end, and one old guy with diamonds and a dog right inside the poker room, had a lot more chips than him. so once we hit 10 players, they first have a 10 min break, then the first vote. after each player is knocked out, they vote again. good system really.

so we go to take the first vote, and the chipleader is late coming back and they want to vote for him, but cannot, and soon he comes. sure enough theres one no vote and we all assume its got to be him, and he sure dont say or act like he votes yes. no one else says they voted no either. his rings are worth so much, he obv dont care about the money.

finally we get to 9 and vote again, still 1 no vote. im having to make weak shoves. by the time we get to 8, i have become the new chip leader. the guy in 3rd place (who really wants to chop) suggests that I and the original old man with the dog get $10 extra each from all, and he gets $5 extra, and the other 8 all get the other $150 each (minus the $25). of course im voting yes for that, being chipleader. and suddenly this time theres 2 no votes--cannot imagine where that 2nd vote came from, one of the players suspects its me--but damn sure wasnt me. i think the original guy from the earlier tables was the no vote that time--he clearly voted no later on at 6 players.

and i think the reason he now said no was he also had about the same amount of the other guy who wanted the extra $5 each, and thought it was unfair that guy gets $5 extra. but hell i just wanted out of there with something, id have gladly took an even money chop--but didnt want to appear too eager to take a raw end of a deal being chipleader. granted i was only at 60k next biggest stack was just over 40k and to show u what a crapshoot, i still had only 6 BB.

so later on 2 bust out (one at a time, with votes in between) not at once-- and we are at 6. now heres where things get interesting. i still suspect the guy with the dog was the same NO vote at 7 players. 5 of us get paid even if no chop, so this is the true bubble. im being forced to make many shoves, and starting to run poor, im down to 28k from 60k blinds 5k 10k and make 1 bad play shoving my 58 clubs (it won for me twice earlier) against a guy whose been folding way too much, and this time he has AQ and dont fold and i lost. so im suddenly down to 8 chips and cant make it thru the next BB.

so another old guy whose been wanting to chop in seat 1, he dont have enough to make it thru either, and UTG he shoves knowing he will be BB next and has enough for the BB, but then not enough left for his SB. (blinds just increased again to 10k 20k) the old man in seat 10 whose BB it is now, needs only about 4k more to call him, and its like a 50k pot preflop. if he calls, i have a shot to make the money cause the UTG guy might bust.

the guy folds (wtf???) and i am 100% sure the guy only folds to make sure i am the bubble (with only 8k left and blinds 10k-20k knowing ill be the BB 2 more hands. remember this is the guy whose been refusing the chop, (for the simple fact of wanting to deny me the money). even if he was offered $600 and everyone else take $50 each, he wont chop and thats more than first pays.

so im livid when sure enough, i bust out, (only one who bubbled). they didnt even vote at 6 handed, because by then the new chipleader (original old chipleader from many moons ago) now again swears he wont chop no matter what now that hes just won a ton of chips so he says not to pass the cards out. meaning i never get to see if there wouldve been 2 NO votes at 6.

all i can think of, as i leave the room to rush to mcd next door in the aquarius and to my room at the pioneer, is all the serious crimes id like to do to the old man, and the poker room staff. im way too wound up to do anything but come here and start typing away. how dare the old man hate the idea of me getting any money so much as to play the way he did and vote the way he did everytime just to make sure i dont get any of the money--even when im chipleader and wanting to just make sure i get something. i dont blame the new chipleader for not wanting to chop because he was pissed from before no chop when he then did want a chop, but this guy was just too much.

excellent example of the type of assholes guys can be when they have a lot of money (think hamsterdam) and why im not an asshole, when i have money is when i am trying very hard to be nice to others, and not all that much when i dont and need to just survive day to day. for others its the exact other way around, and this is very difficult for me to accept.

serious update--i missed my shuttle to amtrak, it was amtraks fault, i was 20 min early waited 90 minutes, it never showed, called amtrak and found out they forgot to tell the driver so he didnt stop because he was late thinking he wasnt picking anyone up. so amtrak refunded the entire thing at my insistence (normally its nonrefundable)

went back to the pioneer and slept all night. am now trying to get into vegas as soon as possible where i will see Benny whose enroute from reno now. booked a flight on allegiant to wichita for $86 on april 25th next fri  so i will now see mom 3 days SOONER so this is a good thing, plus its a lot cheaper. so i wont be in albq or dodge city now. just as well, this plan is a lot better.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
one final and important update--i found transportation to vegas--which means i can now post the blog--that will make u happy. im now on hiway 95 headed north on a different companies $60 shuttle that left at 1pm, the last one of the day and i phoned at 12.52pm 8 minutes in time to let the driver know--so i got lucky otherwise id been stuck in laughlin

won $98 on the VBJ this morning at the pioneer, so overall i made about $75 off VBJ (and earned 4 nights comps which never got used)

    1. Whoops! I see it now. I thought that was the message of the movie, but I see now that you were referring to the title. Thanks.

  2. Why do you want to hurt the poker room staff? Or are they all in on your demise as well ? I doubt the other guy was just out to get you either. Once again its all about you.

Well done on not blowing up in the poker room though (if you didn't). One day you will and someone will rip your head clean off.

Is Benny the same Benny you were slagging the other day? Nice work, lets hope he cannot read or has a short term memory issue.

    1. i was going to take the word staff out. forgot to. the way he played its clear he was waiting for me to bust. who dont call 4k to win 50k preflop? he wasnt refusing the chop there to win first thats for sure or he would call in that spot. a decent person whose not a thug wouldnt do that at all they yell for security to protect them, and be scared too. if someone is NOT afraid, well that means they are the thug. normal people, when seeing a guy a little unstable and upset, dont try to "rip their head off" they run in fear yelling for the cops

    2. Benny wasnt offended by anything i said--i have no other way to reach him, because he dont use email and some things are too long to text. others, like lightning, i constantly email because when he wants to use text instead of the phone, typing on a cell instead of a laptop just too hard.

    3. Is it conceivable that you were being an ass earlier in the tournament and this guy targeted you because of it? Last time I played a final table with you an associate of mine got so infuriated with you it was 50/50 if he was gonna rip your head off.

  3. So these guy are assholes for telling you to your face they won't chop and you lost by shoving a crap hand and losing chips. Why do you feel the need to lie about where you are ? To me that's worse than being a dick at a game, some people are actually concerned and I was happy you were going home. I no longer believe what you say about anything as you proved that you lie all the time for no reason.

  4. its good to be back in vegas (if only for exactly 1 week, til apr 25th) and have a much nicer and much more expensive room for 1 week. and i need a nap, but first, i shouldve left out the word staff--i forgot to edit that part out. the only thing i was offended was the staff wouldnt let u discuss any other types of deals or anything about HOW to chop unless we first voted to chop--some guys would vote no because they wanted to know what the chop would be first u see. i was also pissed the staff raised the goddamn blinds so fast and doubled almost every time instead of smaller increases. i shove "a crap hand?" its not all that bad with only 3 BB left, any shove is better than blinding out. never get a chance to shove sooner when people always shove in front of u, and the stack gets small from losing most on earlier pots and blind increases. i mean, its a better shove than k3 suited for example.

the fact i had to lie about where i was was EXTREMELY OBVIOUS--had it been known i was in laughlin, theres no shot mom and son wouldve seen me soon--because hamsterdam or sickcallmggee wouldve immediately let the cops know to come to my room for that old 2002 trespassing court date i missed. that casino is closed so they cant testify but the warrant still exists.

still going home, so all is well. if u didnt want me to lie about being in laughlin--thats not really being fair to those who want me to visit soon. do u want them to wait 6 months while i sit in the jail in laughlin waiting to be seen by a judge on the 1 day a month they hold court?

    1. Tony your view of everything is very self centered. I think you are a sociopath, how would I know you didn't go to court in 2002? You had your reasons for being deceptive, you could have reached me anyway privately and told me the truth. Instead you chose a public medium to lie directly to me. Understand that people don't feel good when you lie to them. When I first met you and ask to go some place with me you didn't want to because you didn't trust me. When you lie to me it make me not trust you. Now I understand you might not get this but if someone is your friend you don't lie to them. Accepting responsibility when your wrong is important in life and you always blame it on something else. Learn to admit you are wrong once in awhile and people will start to respect you a lot more.

    2. How can you be trespassing if that place is closed now? Are you not allowed in ALL of Laughlin? That seems unfair.

Sorry I'll miss you in Vegas this trip. I'll be at 4 Queens May 4-9.

  5. Omg that sucks! Horrible situation to be in. I must say I'm impressed you walked away and kept those bad thoughts in check.

When you're reduced to having to shove so much it's a coin flip and pretty inevitable for one to be a losing coin flip.

    1. one thing that helped me walk away is i love that room--about the last room to play in in laughlin and the omaha8 game there is great. $2-6 spread with $4-12 kill which often occurs so then u can make it $16 preflop (raise $12 more). also i was in a big hurry to post the blog last night, (fully expecting to be on the train and out of there so i could post immediately) i knew that once i typed down every pain i felt inside id start feeling better.

  6. i was eventually in the game at the wynn tonight for $217 (after losing the first $100 buyin) but when i cashed out i was at $452. si might be proud to know i made 1 good seat change to have position on the right player or two, and pulled 2 bluffs too. a big raise allin with Q4 offsuit preflop and on 45 clubs after the flop on a flop of Ak7 and i raised his $10 postflop bet to $20 and he folds. both raises i won.

so ive got back a big portion of all the money i spent today on rent and shuttles earlier on

  7. Benny had his gf kathleen with him when he drove here, and i was surprised he wasnt alone. she wanted to ride to vegas from reno with him. he stopped by the wynn, while talking to Nick, and the new dealers angels is at the WRONG casino, its at the elcortez so that dont help me none.

would like to lift that old 20 yr ban--im sure its a $1 min unlike the palazzo $5 min probably better comps too who knows what the elcortez comp and cash %age is?

  8. So, Tony, are you spending part of tomorrow, Easter Sunday, in church to celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord? That's what a good Christian would do. If you can take out a few hours of your valuable gambling time to see a religious movie, surely you can sacrifice an hour or so on the most important day on the Christian calendar to worship the Risen Savior with your fellow Christians. And, after all, Easter Sunday does fall into the "Keep holy the Sabbath" commandment.

  9. If you want to get a ban lifted, why not just ask? The chances of a 12 year old warrant still being enforced are somewhere between 0% and none existent. I think there is that thing called statue of limitation for all most everything except capital cases and you sure didn't have a problem talking about being in Laughlin last year when you were there for those few weeks. Tthe ones that almost busted your roll.

    1. zippyboy-i dont remember clearly that far back--but i do remember someone learning about the warrant telling others--and me wanting to get out there once it got publicly known a couple years ago. i think this was before the existence of the TBC thread. i think mcgee posted it on twitter, not sure. all i know was in 2004-2005, an officer in vegas that let me go said if id been in laughlin instead of vegas, id been taken in.

  10. cooldave88 might be taking me to church at 7pm tonight for easter services from either the wynn or the V.

would like to talk about a hand yesterday at the Wynn (for konas benefit) as to why i lose money when deepstacked (keeps u from value betting). it happened twice on different hands. the one i remember well i had AQ and the flop was something like JT6 with 2 to a flush and several of us checked, i think id raised it preflop. turn comes Q putting up 3 to the flush, theyre still checking to me, and i bet $20 just as afraid to give free cards as i am of getting check raised. (for some reason the wynn seems to be an easy place to win, and i cant figure out why as many sharks are there). u do have to wait forever to get a seat there. i get 2 callers. most river cards will scare me so i ask for the 6 of clubs which would be a total blank. river comes 6 of hearts (blank also) they both see the 6 and check, and me, fearing a check raise or a better hand checking i check. (we all had over $300 behind). i won, and another player had QK, and im SURE i couldve got a little more out of him. for to him he like me has top pair and top kicker.

    1. Top pair, top kicker is worth two bets and that's what you did. Why the remorse?

  11. Just read this again -- You only got one street's worth of betting. The board was coordinated, however, so sometimes you don't get the reward you'd like. Accept it and move on.
