IM BACK

well it felt good tonight when i touched down in vegas in one piece, a bit of a bumpy road, and to save money first thing i did was buy a daily bus pass. Wish i could get ahold of Benny, but first i need a working phone, and for that ill have to wait til tomorrow since i cant figure out my password.

it was good to get away for a while, see family (notice all of moms new pics on facebook) and to make it back with so few dollars disappeared during the trip. felt good to see the girl next to me talking to me on the plane, and keep accidently touching me while she talked, til i learned she had a husband in vegas, and was going to see him soon as she stepped off the plane. also she talked about God protecting her while up in the air. but hey she did offer to buy my $2 pop while on the plane, when paying for her own food.

and also, i have $50 match play at the golden gate--to get it, u must show an allegiant boarding pass within 24 hours of ur arrival in vegas. so u dont have a lot of time, and of course in the middle of the night, the players club booth to pick up the voucher probably isnt open unless the pit boss can do it for u.

ive decided NOT to do what i was originally planning to do on my return to vegas--because im too afraid of going broke if i do. u see my original plan was to go out to henderson in the morning, take a room near the casino with the dealers angels machine by the week, and grind it on the $1 min with proper bankroll management where theyres very little traffic and is basically empty most all the time.

but with so little money left--and the horrible rule of hitting soft 17, and the low comps, im not so sure its still beatable. sure u can see the shuffle, and any BJ game is beatable with a huge 1-100 spread instead of a 1-8 spread, but since i cant afford that type of spread--------------------

so i figured ill stay a day or 2, then go out to cali to play poker, and if i play any BJ it will be TABLE BJ. why? well, i did quite well in KS at table BJ, turning $40 into $97 with no martingaling whatsoever. the slightly higher min on the table and my lower roll keeps me from martingaling it. also ive learned a secret to play for hours straight at the right table BJ game with 2-1 BJ coupons all day long, and im wondering just how much over 100% this brings up the payback, getting double money on every single BJ i get. so i wont be in vegas very long--but i will play a bit of poker tonight and tomorrow.

years ago all i played besides poker was table BJ. in AC, IN, NV, WA, etc. and i got tossed for counting cards (not for bad behavior) at a bunch of places. i certainly had the pit convinced i knew enough to beat the game. u see, back then, the min bets were lot smaller, better rules, so i felt more comfortable. good BJ machines didnt exist back then that i knew of, although now ive heard about games i missed out on i didnt know were good back then and wasnt aware of.

ive been told my $3500-3600 is enough to flat bet 25$ all day with a decent edge with the 2-1 coupons. and the most i should worry about dropping is $1000---and that that is "highly unlikely" and overall it should be worth over $100 a day in ev. would like to know how true that is.

  1. The fact that you can't quantify your edge on a 2:1 BJ game is yet another example of why you aren't an AP and shouldn't be gambling.

Also, in 2014 the chances of there being a BJ game where you can get 2:1 all the time is close to nil. If there was perchance some coupon based opportunity like this, chances are you'd burn it out within hours due to your actions.

"Hey Pit Boss were do I get more of these good coupons this game is great the player has a big advantage you know I'm going to play here for the next 6 months and sleep in your spa and build my roll I'm a pro poker player but I'll play here since this game is so good for a few months can I get a comped buffet?"

  3. an excellent example of why i should either be in CA instead, or be where i can do the 2-1 promo.

    1. An excellent example of why you should be in Lyons, Kansas, working at Wal-Mart

    2. what's Walmart? I go to walmarts.

This genius actually thinks he can use 2-1 bj coupons indefinitely. classic stuff.

    3. I wasn't trying to use Wal-Mart as an example to be demeaning. My point is that tony needs to not gamble is he is ever going to have any kind of normal, decent. life.

  4. Tony:

I'm glad you had a good time with your family.

Sorry to hear your gambling addiction cost you another $380.00 today. Wouldn't it be an amazing feeling not to have to feel the guilt and anger you feel when your addiction overwhelms you?

  5. An excellent example of why you are not mentally able to handle any type of loss.

  6. Was that loss associated with the "free" play you were so eager to get to?

    1. absolutely not if u read it--the free play was on TABLE MATCH PLAY--different casino--where i won $112.50

  7. well im down to $3142, and at one point it was even worse. lost more money today on VBJ, and yes im a damned fool--precisely why im better off in cali. i withdrew $160 off my debit card at the V after losing all the cash i came back with, and then recovered a little bit or i wouldnt even have $3000. i was back to almost $3300 for a while, after leaving the game at the V where id got back over $200 of the loss when i played $1-2 NL many hours later, and then me and 2 others walked to the wynn when the game broke. (a girl named Annie who plays there at the V all the time, and a french guy). She probably gets her inspiration from Annie Duke, and plays just as well. Very nice lady, but has either a husband or BF, forget which.

anyway i was feeling good, but was extremely tired--and was planning to catch this mornings tour bus into LA--and just sleep on it. had about $125 left of my $100 wynn buyin, and then this hand occured, right as id already planned to quit on my BB. all 3 of us were at the same table.

a new guy had sat, straddled every opportunity--didnt care a whit about money--and was raising a lot, especially his straddles quite loosely. i limped 99, and sure enough, he made it $17. one lady calls, and i figure its as good a shove as any--but didnt expect to be called. he calls, so i worry, of course, no one else calls. flop comes JJQ, turn 5, river Q, (which counterfeits me unless he has a small pair). turned out he had 83 diamonds, (and makes the flush).

but how could i complain? i got the money in far the best of it, (against 2 undercards instead of 2 overcards) and he gave me just the action ud want with his hand. (which id not wanted if he had 2 overs). i was totally pleased with my play--just not the result, and i immediately left to make my bus downtown. i really wasnt upset--soon as he calls preflop--i no longer was expecting to win--and certainly not after i saw the board--was quite shocked he called $108 more preflop with 83 diamonds though once i seen his hand.

    any comments?

    2. You are right - you want him to call. If you were a recreational poker player, playing with money you could afford to loose, such variance would be nothing more than a little annoyance. Your problem is you are gambling to make a "living." You don't have another source of income. And you are relatively short stacked all things considered. Thus, I'm sure this type of variance hurts a lot more than it should.

  8. I'm staying at 4 Queens until Friday, Tony. I played the 11am tourney at GN yesterday. Maybe I'll see ya around the Nugget or Binions in the next couple days. Or I'll stop and say hello if you're playing live BJ.

    Good luck whatever you do.

    1. 4 queens. SWEET. get those fried oreos and twinkies down on fremont. i wonder if 4 queens still has the chicago microbrew place in there still

    2. 4 queens was only $25/night, and has no resort fee. And I got an aMAZing pastrami sandwich from the Binions deli. Only $9 and much bigger and thicker and $5 cheaper than the ones at Cantors at TI or Carnegie at Mirage. Came with potato salad even.

Tony, I'm looking for ya! I might even run into you by the time you approve this message.

    4. I still have fond memories of the beef brisket sandwich that I once had at the Binion's deli. Passersby would look at the half still on my plate as I was stuffing my piehole with the other half and ask what kind of sandwich it was. When I finished both halves I was about to bust. I could have fed four or five homeless persons with just one half of that sandwich.

    5. PREACH. i use to like the 99 cent breakfast after midnite at binion's 3 eggs, toast and hashbrowns for adollar extra u get sausage, bacon or ham.it was SWEET.

  10. booked me a plane ticket again for Friday, this one cost me $64 with 1 bag. so i wont be in vegas long. still barely holding onto $3200, at least i had small wins at poker last 2 days. still having lots of problems with mail working from cell properly, twitter working properly, and UP working properly from laptop. found $21 on UP i have no idea how it got there, unless i forgot i had it left.

dont know why i was ever afraid of flying years ago--ive found it a ton more comfortable way to travel than any other way now--i keep getting more lazy too as i get older.

    1. Tony, I'm curious to see just how lazy a person can be. There are those rare folks who weigh like 700 pounds and can't get off the couch and have to grab stuff with a long poking stick (ok, that last part may have been something I saw on the Simpsons). You are definitely not yet on THAT level. But, for an able-bodied man, you are doing quit well for yourself (assuming being lazy is your goal). Please keep us updated.

  12. well i won $409 in the $1-2 NL game that me and zippy were in earlier, and i stayed many hours longer than he did. i was up $538 at one point, had way too much money on the table. made a great laydown once, and made a great bluff once too.

when i left, i was quite pissed i had to pay the $8 TWICE for a bus pass, (mine had somehow disappeared while playing poker). but it was a fun ride home on the bus. 3 guys who turned out to be locals instead of tourists were talking the whole bus ride about gay bars and what they were gonna do during the gay rodeo and joking around with a lady on the bus they met from their hometown.

and i guess ill see Nick later today also, not sure yet where ill stay. but now i must sleep--i got to be at the airport in time too. Nick has 2 nights in reno, but he comes often from Sac.
