$8156

Eight Thousand, one hundred and fifty six. thats all the money i got left to my name to live on for the next 30-40 yrs.

good news is i didnt kill anyone, i still tipped the cocktail waitress, (those are wonderful chocolate banana milkshakes they give out to all who ask that most casinos wont offer) and i had an edge of MOST of the money i was betting. the casino had a slight edge on the last $326 i threw away in the 100 play VP machine when i left the BJ table pissed off.

i couldnt play poker, woke up at 4.30am, and the game had already broke when i arrived. thats the one thing i really despise about living in reno. i didnt think it would break early tonight.

so now its time for the "$800 cab ride to vegas". but im an old and wiser man, and that will translate to a lower priced expense this time around. such as a $488 amtrak trip this afternoon at 4pm to toledo (with my own private room and wife in a sleeping car of course), a 234pm $165 plane to vegas via allegiant,  with maybe an extra $30 for my nice new much bigger sized rolling suitcase, or a $45 shuttle to north lake tahoe at 3pm.

im not sure if i can continue to play winning poker if i try to just sleep it off and forget about it when i wake back up and if i stay, theres about $700 in expenses including rent coming up sept 1 very soon. need to buy food again too.

i knew i was overdue for the $1200 loss, and the money i lost at the BJ was about the same amount id won at BJ in the last week, so no harm done there. i just shouldve not bet as much, and kept my bets more in tune with the count. But i didnt want it to look to the big boss that i was counting, and the way i was betting no one wouldve suspected it. the only money that was wasted really foolishly was the remaining $322 i left the table with out of $1142, that i blew in the VP 100 play machine.

i just looked like a donkey martingaling bets, but i still flat bet the min on all negative counts. but sometimes i made big bets when stuck on the first hand of new shuffles, and sometimes i bet way more on counts of +1 that counts of +5 depending on whether i won or lost previous hands. but at least all my higher sized bets got in when the count was NOT negative.

so i did a good job decieving the pit boss, they didnt throw me out.

i wouldve been better off if they had.

  1. I'm surprised pit bosses aren't sending you invitations and free flights to come and count card at their casinos.

  6. You really should take a bus to Toledo and make a stop in Central Illinois on the way. Someone I know there has at least one empty bedroom available. It would be a nice vacation to have some home cooked meals, free wifi and an occasional trip to a poker room. There's even an available laundry on the premises and a Walmarts nearby I believe. I'm sure the person and his car would gladly take you anywhere you'd want to go.

  7. Tony,
You can't win long-term on BJ or the machines. YOU CAN WIN AT POKER. Grind like a professional and give up the bad habits. Forget about the 1 day and build it back up. You can do it.

  8. had a small win tonight at the poker, left when i started giving it back. then talked to lightning on the phone for a while and got on Bovada. still have over $90 there, been winning on the DON sngs. also am eating now, finally something other than soup. Pot pies and grapes and peanut butter sandwiches to be exact. am back to $8279 after a win of not much more than $100

  9. Tony,
Once you get to $150 on Bovada, try playing the $10 DON sngs. Once you get to $400, then try the $20 DON sngs. You could withdrawal half of your profits each month and then leave enough on-line to continue playing at the higher stakes. This will provide you another source of significant income over and above your live poker winnings.

    2. it all has to do with access to credit. Business who grant credit, banks, stores, etc, really dont care how much u have in ur bank acct, how much income u bring in each month--all they really want to know is do u get money from working for someone else, instead of thru ur own efforts, and if someone else other than urself is paying u money--they take u. if only u is paying ur own paycheck, they dont trust ur word for it. so then u dont get credit. the fact u have about 2-3x what ud earn at a normal job doesnt help u in any way. u need a long long history of past steady credit and employment.

same way if id just signed a contract for a million dollar job. that dont mean anything either, but working for $6-8 an hour for 10 yrs steady WOULD mean something. People are hilarious.

also considering ive earned that per hour only for a very short period of time, im not too comfortable yet. it takes many years before u start feeling secure about money. unless u are making BIG money like $50 an hour. (which for some reason Benny claims he can on the same VBJ machine i like in north lake tahoe).

Passing my old high water mark of $15.2k would make me feel much more financially secure than $15-20 an hour in income would. things take time. $15 an hour isnt really very much. id have to do that many years just to save up say $20k in cash to spend on buying a car.

yes its credit that makes people rich--not what their income is.

    3. Well, you are right about one thing -- "people are hilarious."

      Thanks for the laugh Tony.

    4. TBC, you are a moron. Self-employed people can get loans the same as people who work for others. All it takes is submitting your tax returns and they will also look at your credit score to make sure you pay all of your bills regularly (things like cell phone, Internet, hospital bills, credit card bills, etc). Heck, I have a self-employed friend that has been able to buy several rental properties.

  11. Tony you have enough money now to get a normal apartment and buy a cheap car. If you took one week off from gambling you could do both. Spend 4 hours studying for the license exam, pay a couple hundred for driving lessons and you could go buy a cheap American car for 2500 get it insured and go pass the driving test. Then you could drive wherever you want. You have more than enough to do whatever you want.

    1. notice reply to blurred below, its a lot more complicated than this. also without proof of income and credit i fear people wont rent to me without all the money upfront. (most apt complexes that is) im still a long long ways off the $15k i had the last time i was in reno.

    2. i feel $9k isnt enough to really do anything, except increase my buyins. which ive done. i never buy in just $40 anymore.

  12. Tony, I already offered to sell you a good running car for $1200. That would allow you to go anywhere anytime you want. All for the price of a night at dem good machines.

    1. what good is a car if id never be able to pass a drivers test? i dont think id ever pass the driving part of the test, id probably pass the written test with enough study if i knew what the questions would be.

i dont think learning to drive (particularly parking and turning corners) is something u learn quick, i think it would take months, which case it cost easily cost me over $1000. its not like 3 or 5 lessons and u know how. right? i might be too old to learn.

be dumb to buy a car without first knowing u passed the test.

    2. As I had mentioned before, you can purchase a scooter that is under 50cc new for around $800 including tax, used with a helmet and a lock for $600 or so! You don't need a drivers license, insurance or common sense and you could save a ton on taxis and the bus!

    3. You raise some good points Tony. I didn't know you've never driven a car. Perhaps one of your friends/followers could give you some lessons. Wouldn't it be great to set a goal for yourself like learning how to drive? Think of the freedom! It is possible! Plus it would give you something to place your energy into besides gambling.......and even further down the road, you could buy a truck with a camper, and never have to pay for a hotel room ever again! Think about it!
