trying to figure out where to go

well its almost time to leave vegas, or to get a stable place to stay if i didnt. my room here will expire sunday morning. was briefly up to $7973 this morning, before i later went back and sat in the $1-2 NL at the nugget again and lost $115.

felt myself starting to play bad, and was down to my last $35 when i got KK and made it $10 in EP. got 3 callers. flop was AQ2 with 2 spades, and i had the red kings. everyone checked to the last guy to act he bet $20 and i went allin. only me and him stayed in, and he did NOT have me beat on the flop, but he made a flush on the river.

at one point i was up over $150, and earlier in the night before Herbie came by id won over $400 in the game. (that was the earlier session). i won a big pot with AA, and then gave it all back the next hand with AQ with a queen high flop of Q42 to a guy with 222. he also lost the main pot to a guy who rivered a flush, but won the side pot.

i've been needing to go by the bank and deposit part of the $2500+ ive got on me since ive been winning lately, but since i didnt know for sure the bank downtown was open INSIDE on saturdays, i didnt want to have to walk up and do it at the atm with that much money. too many bums nearby at times, and not good enough security outdoors, plus id have to take the money out of my sock beforehand so ive still let this go but it really needs done.

and that tooth still needs done too, it is starting to bother me to chew food at times, and i felt a small fraction of a piece break off. actually the dentist had told me before than 2 of them need done.

speaking of my safety, had a weird experience in the elevator. probably was in no danger since nothing happened, but still it freaked me out all the same.

i get in, am alone, guy opens the door back up to get in and doesnt press any buttons, and claims hes going to the same floor i am. then he asks me how my days going, and im afraid to tell him and worry if he heard me talking about needing to deposit money--or that hes trying to find out if i have money. him forcing his way in made me nervous, then at our stop i dont get out, dont want anyone following me to my room, and just stand there and he says after u, and i just stand there, he looks at me, then finally gets out and walks down the hall. im too afraid to leave the elevator, ride up to the top, then back down, get off on my floor, no one in the hall, and go to my room.

ive still got $442 on bovada, and i wonder how much ill have on there when they finally get shut down and ill be out all the money.

and i dont know where to go. the casino at the Tahoe Biltmore finally emailed me (as id requested) to tell me the VBJ has finally been repaired. ive still got 180 tickets for the $5000 drawing, but thats nothing now the drums filled up now with 1000s of tickets. and ive looked at the Value Place weekly or monthly deals in florida in pensacola and jacksonville and they are in the opposite areas of the casinos not near the bus id need. those are nice safe places to live since they use interior hallways instead of exterior but theyre always in the wrong area, except for shreveport.

i cant find any good deals in CA near the casino thats not regular monthly apts, i havent already stayed at, and all the ones in phoenix didnt quite pan out, nor does the one in albq work cause i hate living where the casino dont stay open 24 hours 7 days. biloxi might work but i dont know. i did see one craigslist ad i liked there, but i doubt theyd rent to me or that id be able to afford to pay upfront.

if i could ever learn to fully trust  Rays sincerity about becoming a Christian id give Toledo more serious consideration and also if i could figure out what happened on the last trip there as to whether id be in danger if i returned.

and i dont know where id live in reno if i returned either. im probably better off living with Vince here in vegas, but i want my own place if i can a short walk from a casino thats 100% nice area and safe and not a shithole.

was really disappointed to lose most all the $25 promo chips and end up with only $25 in real money out of the $150 in chips. did anyone else ever try to use that redeem code for it i posted on RTP a couple months ago? doubt u could if u didnt get the email.

also i hate the way i cant read facebook messages on my cell anymore, since it now requires u to download messenger for phone if u arent at a laptop. and the golden nugget is really ripping u off on food, what u used to get for fries a year ago for $5.99 is now $8.99 without fries.

i used a $10 comp for it and i wont be up til very late tonight closer to midnite but id like to see grouchie and SI. i forget what grouchie looks like but i sent him several twitter messages while playing last night.

  1. also i did a lot of research on winstar, and it seems they discontinued all of their buses, i even emailed them to be sure. thats too bad. because there were a lot of weekly deals on places to live in the dallas area that didnt cost much

    1. It would be a pain to ride the bus from Dallas or Fort Worth every day. Its at least 1-2 hrs everyday. There are lots of apts in Gainesville or even Thackerville that would be much more practical.

  2. worry if he heard me talking about needing to deposit money

Surely you weren't discussing this in public? If so, shame on you -- just asking for trouble.

  4. Tony when I come to Las Vegas next month, I am staying at Circus Circus for about 5 nights because it is close to Wynn and the Venetian poker rooms, and I was offered accomodation at a cheap rate in one of the tower rooms to stay there. I was wondering where is the good dealer's angels machine? Is it in Circus Circus or slots of fun. I remember you told me not to play the machine at the Riviera because it was not as good as the one over the road. I would really like to have a look at the good machine, just so I can try and figure oput why you are so fascinated with it, and maybe play it a bit. Also are there any good vbj machines at Slots or Circus? If so can you tell me where in the casinos they are located? Thanks.

    1. its actually NOT the dealers angels, its the shufflemaster and slots of fun is so tiny compared to circus them 3 machines stand right out. what makes it good is the $1 minimum instead of $5, and the fact u get 50cents back on every $100, good comp rate. ignore the sign on the machine saying it "gives no points"..all that means is u dont get points for cashback. u still get the comps though.

    2. if u want to find a good dealers angels machine like Jean, but with a shittier comp rate, rent a car and see the $1 min VBJ at the lake mead hacienda

    3. Why can't Koala just go to Jean since he's not banned?

    4. just now waking up in my room at 1am, koala dont like to rent a car. are u back in town yet?

    5. Jean is 10 miles closer and a 20 minute shorter drive, but Tony doesn't like the easy or what is the
      best way.

    6. Tony is correct about me not liking to rent a car. Since we drive on the opposite side of the road in Australia compared to the USA, I am not really comfortable with driving in the USA, even though I have done so before. Besides that the cost of insurance is really exhorbitant, because I cannot obviously use my normal car insurance to cover me.

    7. There's a huge Midwest poker tourney series at Ho-chunk Wisconsin Dells going on this weekend so I'm thinking about staying a spell.

  5. Smart move staying on the elevator. If he tried to mug you in the elevator he would be on camera (as Ray Rice knows all too well). You might be a little paranoid, but it's good to be aware of your surroundings. Get that extra money deposited ASAP and you won't be so worried about things like that. And don't talk about how much money you're carrying around - on your blog or anywhere else. If a reader of your blog recognizes you and tries to steal from you, just tell them you had a bad night at VBJ and you're out of money. I think it's believable.

  6. Parx Casino 2999 E Street Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020

Nice poker room with about 60 tables. Good Action.

Bensalem, Pennsylvania seems safe. Not sure what the rents are in that area. Near Philadelphia.

But you seemed to be doing real well in Reno so maybe you should go back there.

Also get your tooth fixed before it gets worse and you end up loosing all your teeth.

  7. Tony, please stop whining about your tooth. You have had both the time and the money to do something about it for months. No one cares about it anymore. Either get it fixed, or let it kill you, as it eventually will. But FFS STFU about it!

    1. This pretty much sums up this entire blog, actually. It's been nearly a year of noting but "new roll is x" and "where should I go next . . ."

Tony, how about putting some thought in to your next post and doing something a bit different or interesting? Tell a story about your past or something.

  9. Your concern shouldn't be that the casino is open 24/7 but that they have poker games going 24/7. I suggest that you stay put, set a goal of adding $1,000 to the roll (making it around $8800 or whatever), get your tooth fixed and them move on. At least in Vegas you know there are games 24/7 that you can beat.

  10. You were doing so well in Reno. Maybe you should go back there. A place where you thrive is a good place, no? But see Vince's dentist in Vegas before you go.

heres a great site most people dont know about for searching cheap airfares. u do not need to know the city u want to travel to.

    1. u should do that bcuz blackhawk casino is only 40 miles from denver and most of the rooms r 120 dollars .U R RICH, so get a cab and spend spend spend. #nofuckingclue

  15. Black Hawk is a very nice place, but not so much for a low stakes poker player on a budget. Black Hawk itself is very walkable, several casinos/hotels are close to each other. There are a handful of lodging options. You might find some sweet deals during the week (maybe), but good luck on the weekends, occupancy is really high since lots of Denver area residents spend the weekend up there. You will be isolated from anything but casinos (this one may not matter to you, but it would bother most people), high rake ($5+$2), Only promotion is a quads beaten bad beat (so you probably won't see any of that $2 back unless you win the lottery) low comps ($1/hr), $100 max bet. With only one room to play in all night, and sometimes only 1 or 2 games you will run into rude degenerates who will slowroll you at every opportunity. if you get kicked out of the one room that has games 24/7 you will probably need to cab it back to the airport and move on. If you're low on funds you don't have any friends to pick you up or let you crash at their house, and it will be getting cold soon up there, so you won't be able to sleep outside on the weekend when hotel rates are high. Bus runs back and forth from several locations in Denver for $20-25 roundtrip. May be able to find cheaper lodging down there but bus fees and 1 hour+ roundtrip won't be fun. Some casinos will give you a voucher for a discount if you gamble there (not the one with poker 24/7 though).
