I just left Ventura

Im in the starbucks outside the Oxnard amtrak station about 3 blocks away, and i booked a train leaving at 7.50pm towards los angeles, but im actually going further than that. so i paid more than just the price of the fare into los angeles.

ill be staying on the same train, no need to transfer, and ill be arriving at my final destination about midnite. I also booked a mon nite and tues nite stay (guess i have multiple rooms paid up tonight) since i checked out of my other room here. the 2 nites total will be $123.

Roll is down to about $15,400. after losing a lot more than i shouldve today at the casino in Ventura, i went back and lost about $25 more in the small $50-100 buyin $1-2 NL and of course my Uber fares (taken 3 trips now) and all the other money im wasting.

im disappointed that the low limit buyin PLO mix dont run more than 1 day a week in Ventura. todays game (which im told almost NEVER goes on mondays) was 5-10 PLO mix with most people straddling $25, so it was BIG. min buy was $600 and i left after losing $600. and earlier i was stuck $442 in the smaller NL holdem game. the whole day was bad. now the night before i won about $300 in the game.

over the longterm, Ventura would be a good option if there were housing available. the rake is next to nothing, the games are loose, and no jackpot drops. the money u save in rake would easily cover the high cost of a place to live. but i think i should have at least $20k in the roll. and if i play the game i played today that i certainly shouldnt have, at least $100k.

dont get me wrong, i didnt play poorly in it, and i got the money in with good positive equity. (hands i put in like 25% of the money, with an expected value of 33% plus.) and hands where i hit the flop strongly and petered out, like nut flush draws combined with nut low draws. and one hand i mightve been bluffed.

just goes to show--stick with playing the game u are most comfortable in. and i wonder if ill be able to sleep on the train. sure wasnt gonna use Uber all the way, its like $160. the shorter Uber trip from the casino and by the hotel on the way was only $13+. train ticket cost me $39. But since i refused to pay an extra $20 to sit in the business class section, no wifi will be available on the train. i can do without it for those 4 hours. as long as its not too crowded and i dont have to sit next to anyone i dont want to sleep with, im happy.

im sure PPP knows i didnt post that tweet that cost me $100 on purpose?

i wish i knew how to fight, i wouldnt be afraid of getting in everyones car and i wouldnt alienate and piss off the people i care about most. and also those im just beginning to get to know too.

also i just learned that booking.com seems to be a much better reservation site than orbitz. am still afraid of getting a motel in the wrong area if i use pricelines name ur own bid to save money.

once i get to my final destination, im not sure if i feel like checking out what games are going at a different casino, or just relaxing in my room i had to pay for so i wouldnt worry where to store a suitcase at. it will depend on whether i get any sleep on the amtrak. had the amtrak went to vegas instead of putting u on a bus into bakerfield on the way (and out of the way too i think) id have booked a different train, for what i really want right now is to just go home til my lease ends.

once it ends, i really want to be in a small town, nice apt living close to a casino, pensacola or reno, just something low risk and low cost to avoid a lot of drama and stress over money. $17 an hour is extremely well and i miss the ease of earning that in reno.

Of course; but that's what makes a prop bet interesting. If it was easy, there would be no point . . . u see . . .

  2. lord knows you could never find the time to take a few martial arts lessons somewhere......Tony, you can do everything you want, it's YOU that gets in the way. YOU are your problem.

  3. The TBC in a martial arts class??? Between that and idea of him driving...um... I'm still perplexed that he thinks I would be able to kill him though.

    3. Damn, I missed where Tony said he was worried about AC killing him. Where was that?

Alysia is probably the least-threatening person I could imagine. Which of course, would make the PERFECT contract killer. No one would suspect her.

      Hmmm.....

    6. He PM'd me on Twitter that he was afraid that if caught a ride back to Vegas with me, I'd kill him. Personally, I don't even like it when people eat in my car, much less the mess of killing.

      "Boarded 1225pm train

Wouldve rather went to riverside to get bus to lake elsinore

But didnt wanna wait an extra hour

So i paid $24 to ventura

I wish i wasnt so afraid of people

Ud have the ability to kill me much easier than koala

All my life ive been afraid of going to strangers cars or homes even when homeless and invited to

      Only reason im alive

I also wish i wasnt afraid of fixing my tooth fear its worse"

    7. Tony, you write stupid shit that you worry about Alysia or myself killing you, and then you wonder why no one wants to have anything more to do with you. With that sort of neanderthal stupidity in your head, you will never manage to get beyond the front entrance of the cave you live in. Tony you have serious mental and psychiatric problems, and you need help from professional doctors in those fields.

Alysia is probably one of the least physical threats to your life that you will ever encounter, and you insult her with your idiot words. I would not be surprised if she chooses not to have anything further to do with you. Sometimes you are as dumb as a box of rocks.

    8. That's an incredible message. He must really find you scary, Alysia.

Really, really scary...and a lot scarier than me.

You see the first time I met Tony in person, he asked me for a ride within the first few minutes! He also trusted me with his laptop.

In fact, the real funny thing is that Lightning and PPP, who were there when I first met Tony, actually warned ME that my body would eventually be found in the desert!

    1. Tony why are you not grinding in LV this Thanksgiving weekend?

      Delete

  6. Just try to grind out $12 (tax free) an hour at the 1-2 or 2-5 tables Tony.
Be prepared to go on a downswing, but all that matters is that you check every month how much you are up. Its called the long game.

Then use your comps etc as a bonus. That is a good living Tony. Give up on hitting a big jackpot or a big sick run on your secret slot machine.

It is not going to happen, be realistic. $12 an hour from poker grinding is a great income for you/ jobless. Also quit masterbaiting because everytime you do it pumps out brain cells and it makes you less motivated.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Also I am wishing you the best, I wish you will stay in one location. You spend too much time, money, and energy traveling so much. I wish you can stay still and use the time to play 1-2 nl poker. NOT slot machines.

If you can settle down I will help you and talk to you about how to buy a scooter/ motorcycle. I will pay your $20 per month for the scooter insurance with GEICO.

A scooter is perfect for getting around and is much cheaper and faster than taxis and bus systems. I will check in with you soon. I will talk to you about what brand you can buy, but it will cost about $1500 for a good Honda or yamaha.

  8. Rent paid up for a month in Las Vegas and you are traipsing all over California and paying up to three times as much rent per day on motels/hotels. Another brilliant money making/saving idea from the genius mind of TBC. Lets also not forget all the transportation costs you are also incurring in your never ending quest to find the perfect game where you win every time. Wake your ass up Tony, and get back to Las Vegas while you still have a decent roll!!!!!!!!!!

    2. Tony simply does not have the mental capacity to follow good advice. He is unable to understand variance. I mean, I'm sure he understands it in theory; but he refuses to see it in practice. He also seems mentally unable to stay in one place. Sad as it is, it is the reason I do believe he is 100% unemployable; it is the reason I don't ever think he will succeed at poker.

      Delete
    3. PPP, I think Tomy's definition of success may be different than most.

      Delete
  9. yep, like Koala said, you could have bought a scooter with all the traveling money you have spent in the past bit. Not to mention all the negative -ev you got from the traveling mindset. You need stability. You have a apartment that is paid up and it has your name all over it. Just relax tony,
look, this is your chance to make it big.
    You play it right,
    You can get a 100k
But if you get wasted...- you'll fuck it up.

    1. no way in hell would i ever feel comfortable riding a scooter. how do i get 100k? its not really paid up, dec 11 will soon be here and thats when id owe again. cali would work fine if i just had either a car or nearby housing. ive found lots of good cheap buyin NL holdem games worth close to $200 a day, games are 100% better action and much worse play than vegas, and those are the type of games i need. my fear is id never be able to drive due to being too under stress with other cars around.

    2. You paid up your rent on November 11 when we got back from 29 Palms. You ran away to California a couple of days later, with your rent paid up in Las Vegas until December 11. Most people would consider that to be one months rent, that you have just thrown down the shit shute.

As your rent in Las Vegas was about $1100 a month, and you have probably now spent at least twice that much on accomodation and transportation since you got to California, I would say that your money making/handling/ saving skills leave a lot to be desired.

So if you have found so many NL Holdem games worth $200 a day why is your bank roll back down to $15,000 instead of being back up close to $20,000 like it once was. Stop talking bullshit to yourself Tony, and get your ass back to Las Vegas while you still have a decent roll.

  10. An infection from that tooth you keep neglecting will kill you far earlier than anybody from your blog. Also why not look at the situation like a REAL gambler... you got someone that lives fairly well, enjoyable life, nice housing in a good condo and you think someone is going to risk that to kill you and take 15k?? And in the mean time you are announcing your bankroll to random people at the poker table?? Tony you gotta think this through a bit and recognize your risks better than this...

    2. You made a good decision Tony. Both of those Turnberry Towers have bum fight arenas in the deepest basement level. Each resident has to take a turn supplying a bum for either the bi-weekly Wednesday night bum fight or the weekly Friday night bum fight. You just got lucky with AC I think?

    3. You are lucky she did not pass you off to Rob, after the insulting comments you made to him about where he was living at the time.

      Delete
    4. LOL....I'd almost forgotten about those comments, Koala. I think it was something to the effect that I was probably ashamed that my temporary accommodations in Vegas were vastly inferior to where he was living at the time. No worries, it would take a much bigger insult to get me to harm someone. :)

I'm not sure if those accommodations Tony was bragging about are the same ones he has paid up to December 11 and has more or less abandoned in search of the perfect hold'em game in CA.

But where Tony is really lucky, as I pointed out in a comment on Lightning's blog, is that Alysia didn't simply poison his Chicken Fried Steak at the BBQ she so graciously hosted.

      Delete
    5. Same accomodations, as when we were at the BBQ and he made that comment. He had a minimum of 2 months rent he had to pay. I know where the apartment is, as I dropped him off there and picked him back up that evening, but I don't know his apartment number. I did promise Tony I would not tell anyone his address.

    8. My mistake, Tony. I should have said perfect "poker" game.

And it IS a valid point. California has a much wider variety of non-hold'em games than Vegas. Not even close.

  11. I made a LARGE mistake sitting in the $3-6 5 card Big 0 game at Pechanga for 12 hours, ive GOT to cure myself of the bad habit of playing games i like instead of the games that are the most profitable and ive got to quit wasting about $2000 a month on hotels at the same time im paying rent in vegas. I shouldnt feel like all the money over $10,000 can be spent or gambled off, (because ill still have enough left). at some point in the future, every single thousand wasted ill really be needing back. leaving vegas before my departure date was poorly advised. Yet i still couldnt bring myself to go to either Union station or Greyhound and try to sleep in a chair til a bus left, wait many hours for a bus into vegas crowded in a seat next to others, pay a large fee to get there in a cab/Uber, and as soon as i got off the shuttle no stores were open and my phone was totally uncharged. so i needed a room FAST. this is why not having a car is costing me tons of extra expenses, primarily storage for a suitcase i shouldnt be carrying everywhere, but its either that or have no way to ever have clean clothes available, and id still have to carry a laptop around. its not easy if u dont have a car, that presents far more issues than not having an apt, and a lot of these problems it presents the vast majority of u guys have no idea exists because u never have lived my life.

    1. Tony, you need to forget about a car. I'm sorry to say but after spending a couple of days driving around with you, I am of the opinion that you do not have the common sense, the mental ability, the co-ordination, the reflexes, the understanding of road rules and regulations (sure you can learn them parrot fashion, but putting them into practice is another thing), the patience, and a myriad of other things required to become a competent and responsible driver. You told me that you would be an extremely cautious driver, afraid to pass other cars, etc. Tony, sometimes to avoid accidents you need to make spur of the moment decisions. If you are afraid to make these decisions or hesitate, you end up as a statistic.

Besides that, I seriously doubt that you will ever find a driving instructor willing to risk his life, or risk the good name of his business trying to teach you to drive. I would predict that after a second or third lesson most driving instructors would declare you as being unteachable, and continue to just take you for your money, or they would take you for a one way ride out into the desert.

To apply for an original Nevada Instruction Permit, you must:

Provide acceptable proof of your identity and Nevada address.
Present any existing U.S. license, instruction permit or ID card.
Apply in person at a DMV office (we do not make appointments).
Complete an Application for Driving Privileges or ID Card (DMV 002).

  12. although paying $192 for 2 nites in a very nice hotel with the most excellent fast wifi ive ever seen in my life is an option i now have to give me a better quality of life than being outside in a sketchy area awaiting buses to save money is, its probably not the wisest use of this $15,000 left. but its one of the ways my lifes improved quality wise greatly since the early 1990s which mostly consisted of panhandling. i need to remember my roots (which Ray knows well) and what could happen if i dont manage myself well at the poker tables.

  14. Your next priority is to buy a fkn car or truck or van. No more than $3000, that will get you something nice, in the 1.5k+ range.
This way you can sleep in it to save money, and you will save lots!
Just imagine how much money you would have if you rarely paid for a hotel.
You would have an extra $100k or more!
So get a vechile, and make sure it has enough room to lay down flat.
You will save so much money.
Especially on those nights when its 4am and you have to pay the hotel like $70 only to checkout at 11am so like 7 hours!
I wish you best luck tony, you are very attractive too, I like your masculine features and if you are ever in Chicago I will buy you dinner and a movie, and I could pay for a hotel room (at a nice place) and we could watch movies in the room !
