Worried ill end up losing everything back and going broke.

So i need to be either making money from VBJ or from playing poker, or from both. my win rates back to under $13 again. I lost over $1000 at Tortoise Rock casino in 29 Palms. the info i got about their machine wasnt up to date, and then i had to pay for Novs rent too so im back to the $16000s again, and i feel like my savings is slowly draining away. i feel more like im living off it, than any current income.

when my time is up, i still think im better off just going back to reno or anywhere i can make at least $15 an hour playing poker. and i still really want to spend some of this on medical care too. I not only want to get that done, as old as im getting most people think i badly need to get that done or ill be in poor health.

I really should be sleeping, but its important i update this blog, its been so long since ive updated it and theres a lot to talk about. mom still dont have a debit card, so i had to waste a ton of time ordering something online too and it took a ton of time since i didnt know certain old billing addresses they claim didnt match. so i paid a different way.

at least ive got their Christmas taken care of and out of the way now if i were to lose $5000 or so and couldnt afford it, thats off my mind. and i should get myself a jacket or coat too. i might need to travel there and back for Christmas but it might be way too much trouble and its not really worth maybe it costing me up to $1000.

my expenses are quite high, im counting food, transportation (including lots of cabs plus a monthly bus pass) phone, rent, and im coming up with a figure no less than $1700 a month, and no more than $2000, not including miscellaneous or recreational.

so i really either need a less expensive and much more unsafe place to live, take more buses which puts my life in more danger also, or somehow find a way to increase my income. my hourly is now back to barely over $13 an hour counting last nights $239 win at planet hollywood.

i must remember to NOT buy size 34 pants. for years i wore size 30 or 32, and the last time mom got me pants i was size 36 at her house a few years ago. seems i am again size 36, and one of the 2 new pairs of pants ive bought since moving out of reno was 34 instead of 36 and the pockets and the pants just arent big enough and it bothers me every time i wear them.

and i dont think i can rely on VBJ to live on long term. casinos will cut me off if im winning, or else change the paybacks to make it unbeatable, (example being circus removing the good VBJ and replacing it with a bad one at slotsoffun, and the river palms (dottys) in laughlin doing the same.) also the pioneer cut back on the cashback, the Tropicana changed it from a $2-100 spread to a $3-25 spread, which of course isnt beatable.

and i dont know what my vegas hourly is or how to find out since its all combined as one big total. but i know i was over $17 an hour in reno, and now that ive passed 940 hours its down to $13 an hour here in vegas, so i wonder if my vegas rate is really much less than that?

its a good thing i had so much good luck in the month of Oct. im glad the wins and losses fell in the right order for a change. ive talked to Koala on the way back from 29 Palms cali about my poker game and how to improve it. he seems to think i can depend on winning at VBJ to get by, but i dont agree.

I was relieved to make it back to vegas alive and safe after coming to laughlin to meet Koala and make the drive with him to 29 Palms california. i hope he dont regret not leaving my body out in the desert when he had the chance. He trusted me enough to loan me $2000 while on the trip so i wouldnt need to use an atm.

we went to investigate a certain VBJ machine that supposedly paid back 100% plus whatever u get counting, but the rules were changed on the machine since, to make it pay back a bit less, plus i was also told the machines usually is empty and that also wasnt the case. there seemed to always be at least one person on it, and usually the same old man, but he wasnt playing correctly and also makes the side bet (sucker bet) every hand.

not only that the cashback wasnt really 30c on every $100 as was claimed. i ran far far more than $1500 in total bets thru it, yet only got $5 back. i asked about this, and couldnt get a clear answer. truth be told unlike NV casinos, i dont trust the honesty of an indian casino out in the desert they can do whatever they want to anyone.

have heard some bad stories about other court cases regarding seizures of peoples money whove won at VBJ, etc.

i was also told of 2 other machines beatable VBJ over 100% but they were too far away to investigate and still will be done some other time. one is way out in NM. and theres not exactly compatible to motels.

theres a great poker room at this Tortoise rock casino though. the game starts at 6pm, goes til sometime in the middle of the night, and was quite loose. and the really important thing for those of u living in los angeles, is the rakes much better than where u live. u see, if the pot is less than $14, all they take is the $1 jackpot and no rake. the commerce would be taking $6+. i was told by the guy who mentioned the VBJ they didnt have poker--but they do have poker.

and here some interesting reading material on twitter. its by a las vegas cabbie, google the words #ivyphone. this cabbie has no ethics anymore than the one who lied about waiting outside for me, but its funny shit and the guy he fucked with his ethics certainly arent no better and he certainly isnt the guy id stand up for either. and speaking of cabs i need one i can trust on a regular basis. i hear Uber hasnt got approved yet and they might charge simply outrageous fees.

i do feel bad for delores i wish she was with me instead of the guy who ripped off the cabbie. but i dont know for sure if he ripped the cabbie off intentionally, maybe he thought the girl was going to pay him. reading all of this he posted off that guys phone he kept certainly helps people understand why i feel the way i do regarding certain type of drug and hooker pimp relationships.

surprised Koala hasnt posted a trip report of him own, but he claims the Orleans is having trouble with getting his internet connection working. he will be there til he leaves and he no longer has a car.

i wasted about 4 hours this morning winning $18 in the $1-5 stud at samstown when i shouldve came straight home from P-ho and slept thats why im tired. i feel bad theres no hand histories in this issue of the blog, but i dont remember them now.

That would be $3 back for $1000, you got $5 for over $1500 ($4.50) what is it you don't understand!!

  4. Tony, check out Uber!

Free first ride on me ($30 rider credit):

    www.uber.com/invite/df7nx

Or download the app on your smartphone and be sure to use my referral code
    for the free ride: DF7NX

15-20% less than a cab and they actually show up. Once an Uber driver accepts your request, you can view a picture of the car that is coming to get you along with a picture of the driver and their cell number. Tipping is not required and is supposed to be included in the fare. Everything is handled through the app and is cashless.

You can rate the drivers but they can also rate you, so you will want to be nice.

    Good luck!

    3. Yes. You can decline for free within 5 minutes or call the driver otherwise it's a $5 cancellation fee.

No driver can see your cc info.

Driver just shows up and drops you at your destination.

    7. theres never any reason to worry about me not being nice, u see i wont be leaving a casino stuck (id be in a cab if leaving a casino) i would only be getting into uber from HOME. and i wouldnt have to worry about the driver trying to go thru his usual speech to tourists to try to get more money.

Uber has finally been installed on my cell, and an acct created. i was afraid the code would be used by someone else since he posted it publicly on the blog, but it still took it as a promo code when i signed up. that being said, ive still not tried to use it yet though. theres no need to during the day when i can use buses. its only in the middle of the night i dont want to walk to a bus stop or wait at one. ill save it for use then. in fact i think i can use it outside of vegas too.

  13. I finally managed to get online from my room at The Orleans after two days of trying, and arguing with the front desk that the problem was with their router and not my computer.

My road trip was fantastic. So pleased that I finally convinced myself to hire a car and go see places that I have always wanted to see. The drive to Mesquite was enjoyable once I managed to find my way out of Las Vegas. Thank God for GPS. I stayed overnight at the Virgin River Motel in Mesquite so I could check out one of the Casinos called Eureka for Tony. Next morning I headed through St George in southern Utah and into the Zion National Park. Absolutely spectacular scenery, and something I
have never seen in real life before. Drove on through to Flagstaff and stayed in a motel overnight. Woke up to ice on my car next morning. Something that definitely does not happen to me in Australia. Wore the UNLV beanie hat Alysia gave me for the first time.

Made my way down through Arizona and went to a town at Tony's request
to check out a couple of casinos for him. Went 70 miles out of my way. Not one word of thanks when I sent him the results, or when I finally gave him some documented information about the casinos that I picked up while there.

Not to worry, back on the road and drove through Pheonix, then on down to Tucson where I was going to stay overnight. After checking into a Motel called The Clarion Inn, where they charged me almost double their advertized rates on a sign outside, which I did not realize until after I got into my room. I waited for almost two hours for the maintenance man (I think his name was Hector) to replace the battery in the smoke detector alarm in my room, because it kept beeping as it had no battery in it. He had
promised me that it would take him only a minute to get the battery and then he never came back.

Finally, I got pissed off and packed my bags and went back down to reception, told them I was checking out and wanted my money back. It just so happened that the maintenance guy was there at the time, and he started arguing with me saying that he had to fix a washing machine first and that my problem was not urgent. (I had only been driving for 7 hours and wanted to sleep). Then he said that there were no refunds. At that point I
said call the police, and we will find out if there are refunds or not. He was one of the rudest assholes I have ever come across. Any way after pointing out their sign on the wall that promised all kinds of customer satisfaction, they agreed to give me back my money.

I then drove on to Benson and checked into a great Motel 6 for the night. Next morning I drove on down to Tombstone, a place where I have always wanted to go to. Spent a fantastic four hours down there visiting some of the old original buildings and watch a re-enactment of the gunfight at the OK Corral. Finally I had to leave and decided to visit a ghost town called Charleston while heading back up North. Well I did not find any ghosts, in fact I could not even find the town, even though the GPS and road map
said I drove straight through it.

Meanwhile back to the previous night in Benson, Tony had sent me a text saying I should drive all the way back to Las Vegas so I could pick him up and then drive all the way back to 29 Palms in California so he could go and play vbj at the casino there. I made it back as far as Kingman, and was too tired to drive any further. After checking into a motel there, I sent Tony a text and told him that if he could catch a bus to Laughlin the next day (Sunday), I would meet him there an I would drive down to 29 Palms with him, but I was not going to drive all the way back to Vegas and then all the way back to 29 Palms, just for his pleasure. So he sent me a text message saying
he would catch the bus down on Sunday. Again, no thanks for my offer or the fact I had just driven well over 300 miles to try and get back as close as I could for his benefit.

    2. Tony, there are a lot of things that I didn't mention earlier to you in the car. You know I have difficulty talking because of paralyzed vocal cords. Trying to talk causes me to strain my vocal cords and this causes me pain. You asked me not to mention the name of the town I went to in my report as you did not want others to find out about those casinos. So I didn't, then you go and blab the name of one of the casinos there. Well done. Might as well let everyone know now it was the town of Prescott.

  14. Trip report..Part 2 with TBC

So after several texts back and forth to TBC on Saturday night, he said that he would come down to Laughlin on Sunday so we could go to 29 Palms in California on Monday morning.

On Sunday morning I left Kingman about 9.00, expecting Tony to catch one of the early buses down to Laughlin. I wanted to be there when the bus pulled in about 10.30 to 11.00 in the morning. So I sent Tony a text as soon as I arrived in Laughlin letting him know I was there and that he should text me as soon as the bus arrives and I would come and pick him up. Several hours later and no text responses from him, I thought that maybe he was getting an afternoon bus down, so I went and checked out the VBJ machine for him at the Laughlin River Palms like he had wanted me to do.

By late afternoon I was not feeling very well, I think I was still tired and a bit run down from the long drive the previous day, so I went and booked into the Pioneer Hotel and Casino. The rates were cheap and I was pleasantly surprised at the standard of the room. Certainly suitable for my requirements of a one night stay. Had a sleep for a couple of hours and woke up about 8 pm. By this time I thought that Tony "had done a Tony", changed his mind and not bothered to tell me his change of plans about coming down to Laughlin. At about 9.30 Sunday night I get a text from Tony telling me he is playing poker in the Nugget in Las Vegas, and that he will be arriving on the bus in Laughlin at 12.30 am. Now I am thinking to myself is he for real, he has had all day to get here, and now he tells me he is arriving in the middle of the night and expects me to meet him at the bus stop at a different casino and pick him up.

So there I am waiting for him at the bus stop that he told me to be at, when I get a text from him saying he had told me the wrong stop and that the bus was on the other side of the river near the boat ramp. Drove back across the river and picked him up. First thing I had to do was then find a McDonalds for him, so he could feed his face. Second thing he tells me is that he forgot to put his roll in his sock and had very little money with him. So I agreed to lend him money as I had plenty with me. Then it was off to the Laughlin River Palms so he could play his beloved VBJ machine there. He lost. By then it was 2.30 am, so I said to Tony we are going back to the Pioneer, where he can play the VBJ machine there and I am going to bed.

Back we went and he checked into the Pioneer. I watched him play the machine for a while, and I went to bed at about 3.00am, letting him know that if he wanted to go to 29 Palms we needed to get going about 9.00 am. We managed to get away at about 9.00 and so began the road trip. Tony is the most nervous person I have ever had in my car. He has no concept of driving, constantly wanting to know why I was speeding past trucks and RV's but no one was passing me. He did not read the road signs that they had a speed limit restriction 10mph slower than me, and he decided I was speeding. Every time I overtook another vehicle Tony panicked if he saw a vehicle coming towards us. Didn't matter if the other vehicle was still 5 miles away, and that I was safely back in my lane 5 minutes before the other vehicle reached us. He had no concept of what was happening on the road, constantly asking me silly things relating to road rules, speed signs, crossing broken and unbroken lines painted on the roads, and why I just could not do things that he thought were perfectly OK to do, irrespective of the fact there was trucks and other vehicles all around us. I honestly think that Tony does not, nor will he ever have the commonsense to be able to drive a car. Like Alysia told him at the BBQ, road rules are there for a reason and you just cannot decide to do your own thing. Tony cannot work that out.

    2. As usual, you only consider yourself. You could at least have told me what bus you would be catching when you sent me texts the previous day, so i would not be waiting around all day wondering what was happening. Very inconsiderate of you. I could not remember everything we talked about on the trip, at the time of writing the report. Yes you did mention about driving really safe and being scared to pass anyone. I think at the time I then told you that judging when to pass comes with experience, and this was why I explained to you about the broken and unbroken lines on the roads and what they meant. I never said I wanted to make the drive on Sunday instead of Monday. I was only doing it to try and do you a favor, and get you to do something else besides gamble hour life away. Remember we talked about if you had seen any of the shows in Las Vegas and your response eas that they did not interest you.

  15. Trip report.. Part 3 with TBC

Finally we arrived in 29 Palms, after Tony giving me directions all the way there, and telling me how I should be driving, where I should be going etc, despite have a GPS with me and having already looked at the road maps I also had. Immediately, Tony wanted to go to the Casino there and play VBJ, even before we found accommodation. So we did and he lost again. Finally dragged his ass away from the casino and went and found two rooms in a motel for the night. Then Tony wanted to go and buy food for his
fridge in the Motel. So we did, and he did buy to much for a one night stay. Next it is back to the motel for a rest and we returned to the casino later that night.

We both played poker for a while, where Tony proceeded to tell all and sundry who we were, and what we were doing in 29 Palms. There was a problem on the table when a young marine was removed from the casino (reason unknown). This set of some old lady who was playing at our table. Tony had told her all about us and that we were going back to Las Vegas in the morning. She was really annoyed about this marine being removed from the casino despite no one knowing why. Finally I got fed up with her constant whinging about it and left the poker table. Tony played on for a while, then headed for his vbj machine again. Tony lost his ass on the VBJ again, and that set him off. At 12.30 am he pulled one of his classic tantrums, demanding that we go get our things from the motel and return straight to Las Vegas immediately. My response was that I had a motel room for the night, I was not going anywhere else except back to the motel and if he wanted to go straight back to Las Vegas immediately, then he could enjoy the walk. He settled down after that and played poker some more for a while, and we left to go back to our rooms at 2.30 am.

Next morning we left to go back to Las Vegas. I knew that it was going to be a about a four hour drive at least. Before that however we had to return to the Tortoise casino so Tony could try and sort out why he thought he had not received enough points back on his vbj play the previous day. Unable to get the response that he wanted, Tony wanted to play the vbj machine again before we headed for Las Vegas. Once again he lost his ass with one particularly stupid bet across the three spots he was playing of $100 on each spot. He lost on all of them. He had done the same thing the previous night and lost on them, so this time I was waiting for him to do it again. Without telling him why, I later asked him why he had jumped straight from $3 bets to $100 bets. He told me the count was positive, and it was the first time in a long time since he started playing that the count was in his favor. Now I know that Tony was not counting, as the machine shows the shuffle point. I had been counting the cards dealt since the shuffle and exactly 23 cards had been dealt since the shuffle, of which 7 cards had been a face value of 10. The machine used 4 decks and reshuffled after 80 cards. So how the fuck Tony came up with a positive count is just bullshit, which I have long suspected of his so called counting ability.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. if u dont think im counting accurately, then whyd u claim i shouldnt worry that im not been too lucky lately at poker in vegas, and shouldnt think it would help if i moved back to reno, and that "i would easily get it back on the VBJ at the el cortez" and had nothing to worry about. one of the times i raised the bet was the first time the shoe finally reached plus 3 after a long long period of negative counts. however id also raised it a couple other times way up just after losing some previous hands. even though i didnt win at that particular casino, i have been winning overall among ALL of the casinos and thats all that really matters. so what if 7 cards have a face value of 10, out of 23 cards, that means far more than 7 cards had a small value which makes it a positive count. also the real reason we went back in the morning was for u (and i) to claim our other $10 free play each.

      Delete
    2. Tony, there are 52 cards in a deck. 16 have face values of 10. There are 4 aces in a deck. That leaves 32 cards with values somewhere between 2 and 9. It does not matter how many decks are in play, the ratio of 10 point value cards, aces and the remaining cards always stay the same. The thing that varies is the true count as opposed to the running count. After 23 cards have been dealt from a 4 deck shoe, and the above cards have been revealed, if you think that you have a plus count of any significance, you are badly mistaken. As a "counter" you should know this. You do the maths.

The night before when you were talking to the old guy in the suit who was the shift manager, and the people from slots, and you were trying to tell them that you thought your points awarded were wrong, it was obvious they could not help you, and you were wasting their time. To stop you babbling on inanely, I suggested we come back in the morning when the rewards card promotion desk was open. Remember they told us it reopened at 8.00am. It would not have bothered me if we did not go back for the $10 free play.

  16. Trip report..Part 4 with TBC

Finally I dragged him away from the vbj and we were on our way. Once again Tony started giving me directions that he had got of the same old woman at the poker table the previous evening. Finally I told him that I had a GPS, it was my vacation and I would go whatever way I wanted to go. As it turned out the GPS directions were pretty much the same as what the woman had told Tony the previous evening as we kept going on roads she had told him. We finally arrived back in Las Vegas about 2.30 Tuesday afternoon, I dropped Tony off at his apartment complex, waited down stairs in the car while he went up and retrieved the $2000 I had lent him which he had hidden in his socks, and headed for the Orleans to check in.

There were so many little things that cropped up along the way that annoyed me about Tony's lack of care or attitude towards things, and respect for other people and their property that I would need to write a book to cover them all. I honestly believe that Tony really does not understand or know how to conduct himself within the normal confines of society. Whether this is a result of his upbringing by his mother, or a result of his mental problems I do not know. But I don't think that I could do another trip with him.

I guess the thing that really disappoints me is I went 70 miles out of my way to find out things for him in Arizona, tried as hard as I could to satisfy his requests (demands) within reason, drove him over 500 miles around the country side, so he could satisfy his craving desires to find the ultimate vbj machine, lent him $2000 because he had forgotten his sock roll, and generally tried to look after him, put up with his constant barrage of babbling nonsense and unrealistic approach to life and what was happening as we drove around. In the end when I dropped him off back at his apartment, there was no offer to pay for the expenses despite his promise to do so, and there was not one single word of thanks. Still I should not have really expected any thing else, as the things we take for granted in civil life, do not register with Tony. He lives in a world where he thinks only of himself and never puts anyone else before him. He just does not know how to.

  17. Koalas trip report was a completely inaccurate perspective of the way i seen the trip. in my mind, it seemed like he was having a good time and was glad that he invited me to come along, he even said as much he was glad i could join him. i felt like Koala obviously knew how much i appreciated all he did, and i was particularly surprised he agreed to go to a grocery store, both in 29 Palms and on the way to my home. at times he was difficult to get along with and easy to anger, and i worried once he was going to leave me at a gas station where he had me go inside and ask the clerk for directions because i seen he was about to go the wrong way. i wish his cell still worked. and its too much of a hassle to get to the orleans if u arent near a tropicana bus its a big cab fare.

Whenever I return to Melbourne to live, Koala, you have an open invitation to be my guest for a meal at Crown Casino if you visit. Perhaps we could go to the footy. I'm a Western Bulldogs member, but don't hold that against me.

  20. Of course your perspective will be different to mine, as you live in your own little world with no interest outside of gambling. I invited you along as you had pestered me with texts about needing to go to 29 Palms. I thought the way to broaden you horizons would be to take you on a road trip to try and show you alternatives to gambling. Remember at one point you said there was nothing to see but desert, and I said there was plenty to see if you just look around. I agreed to go to the grocery store as I knew you would not shut up about it if we did not, and I also realized we would need some kind of food as there were no fast food outlets or restaurants near our motel. It was not anger I had with you Tony, it was frustration with your constant babbling. If we had gone the wrong way it would simply have been a matter of turning around and going back, I kept telling you we would eventually get there. My cell phone is still working at this point. remember I found your reading glasses in the car when I was cleaning it out. If you want them, you need to come to The Orleans to pick them up. I will not be going out of my way to return them to you. If you don't want them, I will throw them away when I leave to go home on the 22nd.

    1. Tony, perhaps you should rent a car for me when I come to town next month. There are lots of nice desert areas we could visit. Oh, the places we could see. Ummm ... you have never watched the movie "Casino," right?
