exit strategies

As good a room as DE Park is, and as good as the promotions and freerolls they offer (and a lot of $50 and below tournies with a ton of entrants--much more entrants than the stratosphere for example)
i think its time to be planning my exit strategy out of here. theres a few things i dont like.

1. no refrig or micro in my hotel room, it would cost me a higher priced room of about $10 more a day.

2. transportation issues. i still miss walking home in reno.

3. no friends like Ray cooldave or vince living here.

4. heres the biggest issue. i cant stay off the $5 VBJ. yes its countable, but the comp rate kind of sucks, 2 huge losses and ive earned about $40 only in comps. also at poker u get far less than $1 per hour. so food is an expense. i could win at it much easier if id quit betting way too big without a good count just because im stuck. its too tempting to play it wrongly instead of rightly as is why people feel i shouldnt be playing it even though i know how to win. im way better off on a machine with a $1 min. keeps me from betting as much and on the good counts im getting a much better spread.

and i feel like at other places, like MD live, and Parx, and foxwoods, theres games i like better. maybe i dont do as well at them as $1-2 NL, but at least if i dont want to keep playing $1-2 i have other options.

even st louis offers games i like far better than here. especially foxwoods has better choices and so does mohegan sun. better transportation options too. parx is very convenient to hotels and certainly more games. now the issue is just getting there. for id either have to go directly to the train without playing first that day or renew my room not to sleep in but to just keep my things in.

gotta run now to make the bus.

  1. Serious question, when will you realize there is no magical card room out there that will accomadate all of your needs and just accept the fact that you will constantly be wondering if the next place has greener pastures all while burning money on travel expenses?

    3. Tony, There is NOWHERE on the planet with promotions better than Del Park!! They give $1,140 per week in slot dollars guaranteed for playing 41 hours a week!! Plus the high hands, quad/st flush coverall, random drawings and $20K free roll survivor every month, makes it unbeatable. If you want more games your 60 min from MD Live or Parx and 90 mins from AC. Delaware has cheap rent and no taxes and its 25 mins from Philly and 45 mins from Baltimore. If you need a place to rent with a fridge I have several properties around Newark with space. I can also help with transportation since I play six days a week. LMK if your staying easy for 6 weeks or more min and I may be able to accomadate you. Happy New Tear.

  2. Tony you should go to St Louis and show your support for those suffering great injustices in that area. Be a part of the solution!

    1. The only ones i know suffering injustice are officer Darren Wilson his wife and kids a bosnian immigrant killed for being white and the owners of various businesses

    2. You had to get Tony to comment on that though? Surprisingly enough, his comment was reasonable... surprised he considers a Bosnian to be white...

    3. When a humanitarian mission of sorts presents itself such as a trip to St. Louis how can that not make for an epic blog entry if it were to come to fruition?

  3. i now qualify for the Jan freeroll in which 40 will get $500 each survivor format. so i should be here at 3pm on jan 13th. got another woman uber driver today, this girl works in the corporate office of BOA, and we located an atm machine for me to deposit todays $500+ winning between the poker, and the VBJ.

alot of the poker winnings are coming from the $100 slot vouchers, in fact the vast majority is in the promotion. id say about $200-300 is all id be up if it werent for the vouchers looking at my phone records, but am up about $800 more off the vouchers. that makes me wonder if my cell phone records are inaccurate since it only shows poker play but not the added value of the vouchers.

    1. Tony, I told you long time time ago to keep track of everything, but keep the promo wins seperate from. poker wins. If you did that, then you can figure out everything you need to know.

    2. the phone application isnt set up to do that and if it is im not familiar with it

      Delete
    3. no idea which phone app you are using, but how hard can it be to set up a separate stake called promo, or set up a poker room called poker promo, and set up a stake that doesn't exist in live casinos to track. Alternatively, keep track of it outside of the poker app, say in a spreadsheet?

Tony your paragraph 4. in this blog page confirms what I tried to tell you in a previous blog of yours after watching you play at 29 Palms, and you berated me for it, now you admit to doing it. You say you count, but if you do, you do not make rational bets at the right time. Your huge increase in bets are almost always due to your Martingaling your way to a large bet, or spur of the minute decisions and have NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL COUNT. I've watched you play vbj at Slots, El Cortez, Pioneer and 29 Palms, and in every one of those places on several occasions you made bets not consistent with the count.

Tony, As a retired Pit Boss working in an Australian Casino, I know how to do a Hi Lo count, which is what you try to do a variation of, until you tilt and whatever count you think you have goes out the window. You are deluding yourself if you really believe that you can beat the
machines based on your "counting ability" in conjunction with your Martingaling. A $5 min. as opposed to a $1 min. on the vbj machine simply means you have less opportunity to double your bets based on Martingaling. You know this, but you continue to do it. So don't make yourself appear more stupid than you already are by playing the machines, and telling the world you know how to win on them, when in reality in your case it is all pure luck.

    ps Happy New Year.

    1. The machines shuffle on every round, so the counting thing is irrelevant. At least the ShuffleMaster and Aruze ones do.

    2. but you forget that in Tonys mind you can count and win on -EV machines. perception don't matter when it comes to TBC

  7. Tony give up this pipe dream of vbj, your running in circles..Move back to reno grind poker put away 1,500 a month and in 5yrs youll have 100k or continue to chase the wind, its all a choice your playing with fire and will get burned, I played with you at fitzgeralds 6 yrs ago, your a average poker player who is better then the field, make 10ahr in some game, play 40 hrs a week and in 5 yrs youll have a 100k..

    ReplyDelete

    1. no he won't. 400 bucks a week for 5 years is 100k. that doesn't take into account expenses which even for a vagrant add up over 5 years.

people who made 10 bucks an hour working don't save 100k in 5 years. and that's people without a gambling problem.

  8. now whyd i just have such a weird dream? waking up with 4-6 hours sleep, (and actually should so i can go play the promotion at de park).

i'm homeless as always in dreams where im living in some old huge sized building or empty lot (or looking for a homeless shelter) or in a very cheap place i just rented. im going thru some doors THAT NEVER END, (also as always). im trying to get thru to the back of a theater stage to get inside.

inside i hear a woman preaching about God, and i finally get inside and i hear PokerKat say why dont u just hold a knife on her til she finally admits theres no God? im walking thru a big church, looking for somewhere to hide out and sleep, and theres nothing but women in the church, and im wishing i could have sex with some of them.

i look up in the sky and theres a church festival going on, theres a horse and balloon rides way up in the air floating. suddenly some old lady falls off the horse and she is yelling get me down and shes hanging onto her balloon. i dream the entire thing, with the other people and the carriage is slowly being leveled to the ground by whoever is running it, and the lady is scared to death and keeps yelling.

on the way down they get tangled up in electrical wires, and just cannot get around them. suddenly the entire group is in serious danger, and cannot land. i wake up showing my mother a news headling 90 people die in church outing gone wrong.

  9. The poker lifestyle allows him to travel and that is part of what he enjoys. Looking for "pipe dream" games is no different then people who tend to job hop (looking for better money/challenge etc). Additionally, he knows (to some degree) that he grinds on people, so it seems to better to not wear out his welcome.

Good luck Tony. New Year, new luck. Seems like you might like a warmer local.

    1. 10k isnt enough to play the 20-40 stud game neither is 20k. i found that out in cali. might be enough for their $5-10 stud game though to clear the 1 BB an hour of $10. but in that case i might as well play NL.
