Hyatt incline village session

Tonight after about 4-5 hours sleep, i woke up about 8.30pm and decided to play some poker at the nearest poker room. Now Rob's poker atlas iphone application claims its only 3.4 miles away, but the winding mountain roads look much much further and the cab driver claims its impossible thats only 3.4 miles. fare was close to $17

Also why is the name of the room listed as Grand Lodge instead of as Hyatt Regency Incline Village? the cabbie had never heard of the name grand lodge, and wasnt sure where that was until i showed him the address. Rob should look into this.

the room opens at 7pm 4 days a week, and the first game was already going. and i was first up when i arrived closer to 9pm and was hoping i wouldnt be waiting long.

I didnt, a bunch of guys all together came up from the craps table, all young guys, and a new game got started. i won a small pot early with 27 diamonds in my unraised BB (and most of my winners were in my unraised blinds--in fact all night, those were about the only hands i ever played). that had my initial $100 buyin up to about $145.

Not once the entire next 6 hours til the game broke did i have aa kk qq jj tt or ak. not once. Folded almost every hand, and the game had close to 5 people who lost well over $500 each. a lot of young guys from some medical conference equipment sales.

now how would u have played the following hands?

i had 8 10 suited in my unraised sb, so i limped about 4-6 ways for the extra $1. flop comes A 8 5 with 2 clubs and 1 spade, (i had spades). guy bets $5, 3 callers and i called due to my tight image. turn comes 10. i checked without looking, guy overbets allin $105 into about a $25-40 pot. everyone folds to me. do u call or not? what do u think he has?

he was with the other kids and was one of the players losing and not caring about the money.

once enough comment ill mention the outcome of the hand.

and the 2nd hand, i had QK diamonds and it was the first good hand i had in a long time. the one older guy who wasnt part of the group made it $15 preflop so i felt he should get some respect. im next to the button in the cutoff, and he is in UTG+2. what would u do? and ill later mention the outcome of that hand too.

  3. I would have raised with the spades due to your "Tight" image

    1. Raising in SB with 108s, in a loose as a goose game where chips are flying is a terrible idea. No one cares about his "tight image", if they noticed it at all.

  4. I fold the 8 10 hand to the allin. You have $6 invested, no reason to call $105. If he has air good for him.

  5. Sounds like a juicy game. Snap call with your 2 pairs.

BTW, what has your tight image got to do with call behind a bunch of players. This sounds like the kind of game no one would notice your tight play, and even if they did, they won't care. What the hell were you thinking?

  6. first hand I think the guy hit two pair aces and tens. As for the second hand UTG2 is definitely an AK or AQ or better is a major possibility, but you but you didn't mention what the older guys table image was like that of course is going to make a difference, but considering if the hand he has holds any ace you are a 3-2 underdog and the fact that your hand is suited only increases its value by 3 percent and the raise is coming from early position makes it a fold in my opinion.

  7. Based on your info I call with the T8. His range is super wide based on your comments. Also you can severely discount the high end of his range as most players wouldn't over bet a monster. I would lean hard towards him gambling with a flush draw. Your two pair is very strong

Not enough info on the KQ hand. Other than its a call or fold and fold is fine. 3betting would be awful.

  9. 1. probably just a good Ace but might have had better 2 pair. I'd call.

    2. What do you know about the guy other than he's old? Call or raise to $35. Never folding.

    1. Tony you always leave tons of info out but in the KQ hand for instance you need to at least give an estimate of stack sizes. Its impossible to give a legit answer without it.

    2. i think he had about $200, and i cant remember what i had somewhere from $200-250 i think.

  10. Then hand were you have two pair 8T, I would call the all in for $105.

The KQ hand might be a fold depending on what i saw him raise with in the past preflop.

  12. i called with the 10 10 88, and was pleased to find him drawing slim with 10 10 66. my hand held up and it was the ONLY big pot i won all night. the 2nd hand, i folded my QK of diamonds. another guy called. he flops 865 all in my suit of diamonds and he had a set of 8s. another guy stayed til the river, the set won. id have either doubled up or tripled up. the one other good player in the game id not yet recognized as a good player was surprised i folded. he told me the guy will pay off after the flop if i hit.

i dont know any of the regulars, but they all know each other pretty well

    1. I love when the inexperienced players who don't know better tell the whole table what they folded, the more information the better (for everyone else paying attention). I gush when many at the table show their cards after a bet and a fold, although I feel a little bad when I then bet, make someone fold (and I can see the players leaning over to see what I will turn over) and then I MUCK the hand.

  13. How the names are listed on PokerAtlas is decided above my pay grade, Tony, but I dunno, we might list it as "Grand Lodge Casino at Hyatt Regency" because that's what they call themselves and that's what it says on their very own website. See:
