Unorthodox play

I didnt travel anywhere today, but i tested out my new little tiny suitcase today. works nice carrying it up the street, and it runs on wheels. it just dont hold nearly as much, and it would be nice to have one big one and one little one for whenever i leave town.

I'm not exactly sleeping and playing the best hours, because NOW isnt the best time to be going to sleep, but my results are doing okay, so i shouldnt feel that way. at least im finally back over $12,100.

Also im still doing well on Bovada, and my balance is now over $330. eventually ill have enough on there to always wipe out any losses from the live cash games at the Peppermill. the days i lose i can just request a check.

and of course on May 15, i've still got the 10 out of 50 chance of winning a seat in an $1100 major tourny which could potentianly win me tens of thousands of dollars if i end up unable to trade off a lot of my action.

for a while i was a bit on tilt. lost my $120 buyin, and rebought the $314 left. for a while i straddled about 25 out of 30 hands. finally won a big pot with 74 offsuit, and was out of the hole. i never got stuck again and eventually left the game up about $200.

i'd tell u about a lot of hands, but of course, ive forgotten all the hands, and all of the details of the hands. truth be told, ive got nothing to talk about really, but i just knew the blog needed updating.

I will tell u about the guy on my immediate right in seat 7 close to the end about 30 minutes before i quit the game and went home. it was just the 2 of them in a fairly decent pot, him and seat 3. (this is the guy i posted angleshooting on twitter). seat 3 checks the river, and then seat 7 makes a hand motion the dealer takes as a check. then seat 3 asks the dealer if seat 7 checked the dealer says yes. so seat 3 flips over his hand, and then seat 7 swears he didnt check. the floor is called, and she allows seat 7 to bet. he bets $35, the other guy folds, and then he shows 53 no pair for a total bluff.

theres no way in hell he was considering a bet til after seat 3 flips up his cards. (top pair, weak kicker-on a board with a possible straight).

the guy in seat 2 told him he was in the wrong, and seat 1 didnt care for the guy either. then seat 7 got a really nasty attitude with seat 2 the whole rest of the time he was there and left shortly before i left. i had no way to get a picture of him without being seen so i have nothing to show u

  1. Nice to see you back over the 12.000 bank roll Tony. Take your time and keep building it back up, Don't forget you have a big expense coming up.

Do you know if the El Cortez still does that $100 freeplay for $1,000 withdrawn from one of their ATMs once a month? That was a really good deal when we were there. If I remember we both made about $80 free out of it. Do you know if any other casinos in Las Vegas do a similar thing?

Have you ever been to Pahrump, and are there any casinos there? Thinking about hiring a car again for five days and driving around to the outlying casinos including the ones at Primm and Jean. Take care, and again I apologize for upsetting you.

    1. thats $50 free play for the $1000 withdrawal, or 5% up to $50. theres a poker room in pahrump at the nugget. it might be on Robs poker atlas, dont remember.

    2. My mistake it must have been $50 for each of the two months, October and November. Good luck in the draw for the $1100 tourney.

    3. The Gold Strike in Jean was just sold to Jett gaming, new name might be Roadhouse as that is what their other two casinos are named in Pahrump & Fernley

  2. Please do NOT sell any action for that $1100 major if you get drawn! That is your best chance for a HUGE score and you need to reap 100% of the benefit if you make the final table and/or finish in the top 3. Heck, if you win first place I bet a trophy will be presented to you which you can put on the mantle over your fireplace and sip a brandy and bask in that glory over and over for the rest of your life...

    2. Get the damned X-ray. Seriously man. You are too obsessed and addicted to gambling if you cannot handle details of your own health. How do people care about you if you don't lift a finger to help yourself?

    3. Tony will not be going to that dentist to have any work done that day and he knows that is true as he WILL not skip the poker tournament for something as stupid as a dentist appt. HELL he wont even give the dentist heads up that he isn't going to come that day... 10 to 1 odds that i am right about this post...LOL

    4. Offer to buy Karen and her husband a nice romantic dinner in exchange for babysitting you for your procedure. You keep saying you want to do the right thing and make Koala proud of you. TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS!

      Delete
    5. Tony:

We both know that you will not be going to that appointment. Not even if someone offered to take you AND pay for it.

You may have been well intended when you made the appointment. However, this tournament has your attention now. And you will not go.

Therefore, I recommend that you call the office first thing Monday morning and POSTPONE the appointment. Do not cancel it. Be polite and tell them you have realized a change in your schedule. They will appreciate as much notice as possible. So they have time to call someone and squeeze them in.

My husband and I are leaving for vacation tomorrow. And we wont be back by the 15th. Therefore, we are not an option.

But if you are saying that you would skip this tournament to keep your appointment, if only you had a ride, then you really should start asking for a ride. You never asked me. So can i assume that you have not asked anyone else?

Turn on your charm and talk to the people around you who you see everyday. Do NOT put it out there on your blog and expect your readers to volunteer

Anyway, take responsibility one way or the other. Call and postpone. Or arrange for a ride

      Enough said

  6. I'm not sure how the floor rules against the dealer verbally declaring a check for the player, the player not disputing immediately, and the hand finally going to showdown. It had been recognized and verbally confirmed just in case. That's a terrible floor ruling unless you're missing some details like the villain had headphones on or something.

    1. Agree with PM. Now if the dealer hadn't confirmed the check, then I think you have to take the player's word for it. But this is different.

      Delete
    2. it all took place on the showdown. not sure what he means by "finally going to the showdown" and the player did dispute it as soon as the guy turned his cards over (which occured instantly as soon as the dealer said YES he checked). otherwise, the 3 seat wouldve NEVER turned his hand face up

  7. Tony, Lester's suggestion not to sell off parts of your tournament action is good advice. You've made some bad deals in the past. Of course if you ignore that at least get a good deal. You've done well in some of them in the past, maybe play a few more from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  8. If you were to sell off any of the action to an $1100 tournament you pick up for free, while you have a 12K bankroll, it would be among the stupidest things you have ever done. No doubt what you will do for sure...you seem to always make the most erroneous choice when given two clear paths.

    1. Wylie, if u were to have a $13,000 bankroll, u do know enough about poker to know its not appropriate to spend $1100 on a tourny, right? so if i could suddenly bring my $12k up to 13k by selling off all my action, it would sure seem to me to leave the roll at $13k instead of bringing it back down to only $12k (by not selling it). i dont see how thats any different and besides i was only talking about like 50% of it. id still have plenty of stake in myself for a potentionally huge win

      Delete
    2. Yeah, sell off 50% is a smart move based on BR consideration. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with going for the home run either, since you have plenty to grind 1/2 with right now.

On the other hand, if your live tournament ROI is negative, then selling 100% is a brilliant move.

      Delete
    3. But here the point is, he will sell of %'s for cash, and then play wildly to get out of the tournament because "its not his money". we have seen this before, by his own admission. Bad stake for anyone to take up.

      Delete
    4. MrBen, I agree. I have said many times in the past I will not stake Tony, one reason being his disregard for other people's money.

However, the discussion here is on what is good for Tony, not what is good for investors.

      Delete
    5. I know Tony has made statements in the past to lead people to think that, however I have staked him a number of times in the past and he had always shown concern for doing well and he kept me updated on how he did.

      Delete
    6. U see, you are not spending $1100 on a tourny....If you were considering spending $1100 cash out of your bankroll on a tourny I would not think it is a smart move. You would get the entry FREE. The fact that you could add $550 to your bankroll is basically inconsequential given you have over $12K at the moment, given the fact you could win life changing money (for you) if you could somehow pull out a Top Finish. And in poker, anything can happen, plus you have had wins in the past in tournys. This is just a bigger one, they still play with two cards :) If you had a BR much smaller it would be a desperate move to get cash, so yeah you would be smart to rein in some cash. But you enjoy not having any money, so by all means sell 100%.

  9. I'll be back over to the Peppermill soon. taking a short break at home to eat, and do a few things online. new roll is now $12,375 due to a win at the live Bj tables. had to pay a guy $5 to sit out a hand to win. then i bet 2 huge bets and won both, one of which consisted of a double down.

  10. Full report on the "Top Secret".poker room. Tony, no Omaha, and a large amount of filthy Detroit crack heads. All woman here have greasy blond pony tails. Some have so many different colors in their hair they look like a bag of skittles! So far 3 African Americans and one African Canadian. This definitely should be one of your next stops, hopefully we will see you soon, over and out Anthony.

  11. finally had a loss today, mostly due to losing $254 in the atlantis poker room. but im only down $40 for the day total, due to winning at the peppermill before i came over, and winning on the 100 play VP at the atlantis, and on the live BJ table where i sat til the drawing ended. was going to buy another pair of pants across the street to replace one i had to throw away but instead i just went home.

    1. Glad to see you were able to walk away and accept the $40 loss for the day. Its no big deal to be out $40 with the size of your current roll. By chasing it you could have ended up a whole lot more in the hole, and with a lot more stress. Nice to see you were relaxed about it and not upset.

      Delete
    2. Koala, did we just read the same post? Tony chased his loses, on 100 hands VP, and live BJ.

      Delete
    3. You are correct Pokerdogg. I was trying to give him encouragement for not chasing the whole loss for the day. I just looked at that he was able to accept the $40 loss and walk away. We all know that chasing his losses has always been one of Tony's biggest downfalls. Just thought that a bit of a "well done" might help him along.
