I'm glad thats over with

yet it don't really feel over with, since my mouth feels sore inside, around where the 2 teeth were removed, and i still worry about getting dry socket. keep waiting longer and longer to drink coffee, worried i might drink it too soon, or eat something other than mashed potatoes (such as soft bread) too soon. feeling nauseated eating nothing but soft foods, and it forces me to eat all my food at home cause u cant eat soft foods in the poker room. its not as sore as yesterday but it still feels strange in the mouth. and im also wondering how long it is til the abscess is fully cleared up. they say to take the antibiotics til its all gone.

and the dentist did tell me my bones are being eaten away by plaque and i need to come in for a good cleaning (at a regular dentist, not the oral surgeons office) before i end up losing more teeth. they also gave me a new toothbrush. not sure how to brush and avoid BOTH sides of the mouth where teeth were removed, (ones noticeable and ones in the far back next to the wisdom tooth that was removed years ago but id forgotten that and thats why i thought it was the wisdom tooth). im supposed to brush now that 24 hours has passed.

and i dont really have to take the other pills unless im sure i need them. not sure whether to or not, im feeling better now that its getting to be past the 36 hour mark. i worry i might need them really bad if i get dry socket. i also really dread the thought of needing them cleaned.

and ive not been winning. in fact since the tooth was pulled, ive lost about $200 more at poker. new roll is only $8065. lowest its been in a very long time. at least these teeth didnt need fixed when i was at a much lower roll.

my only real hope to get back to where i was is to win the upcoming may 21 satellite seat into the $1100 main event, since if u win it u cant sell it. although i doubt that ill make it all the way into the main event. first i have to be like 1 out of 6 in the satellite.

and i sure did get a lot of sleep. i kept going back to sleep and back to sleep for 24 hours. then when i did wake up and go to the casino i left feeling tired about 4 hours later. and didnt walk back over there for many more hours. and now i left again to go home.

  1. Remember, don't drink anything with a straw for a while! The pressure will open the wounds. If you aren't going to take your "other pills" I'm sure you can get $4 a piece for them.... not recommending anything, depends on the size, I'm sure your good Christian morals would prevent you from doing that anyway...

  2. Yes, definitely complete the course of antibiotic as prescribed. You don't want the infection to come back.

  3. prolly nauseated from medsa nd body healing not so much soft foods

  4. Tony I am not a doctor but my guess is that your nauseated because of the Oxy and not the food. Also you need to listen to the advice of the dentist to avoid dry sockets. Finish the antibiotics even though you should be feeling better in 2 to 3 days. Just cause you are feeling better does not mean the infection is gone it just means it is recessed enough to not have your body and immune system pissed off. Stay the course.

  5. went ahead and ate some soup and some coffee today. it really feels like its my gums thats sore instead of my teeth, wish i could talk this over with the oral surgeon. im back to $90 on bovada after cashing in a $20 MTT, and my other roll is back to $8146. but im still in the $13 an hour range for my 1900+ tracked hours. how much longer should i wait to eat real meals? seems room rates are outrageous prices this fri and sat and next fri and sat in vegas, also room rates are going way up in deadwood starting june 1 for the whole summer.

now for a serious question. i made a small raise preflop with 10 10, and one guy called. flop comes 579 with 2 clubs. i bet $20 and he calls. K comes turn, i bet $30 and he calls. what do u think he has?

river comes 7 and im thinking surely he dont have that, and im hoping for a busted draw or a 9. i check, he bets $60 which smells like a bluff. im leaning towards calling, but then he puts $1 on his cards and pushes them slightly forward.

i am looking at everything i can online and cant find nothing about this, but isnt that supposed to be a real sign of strength? i fold and immediately leave of course, still up $45

    1. If you'd been stuck $45 you would've seen it as a sign of weakness and called. And it will be your gums that are sore rather than your teeth since your teeth have been removed. It ain't rocket science.

    2. Really a question of what he then knew you didn't have when the King came..you bet...then checked the river. That check signaled you don't have AK or anything else related to 5-7-9-K-7. Probably put you on 10s or Jacks and got the steal out of it. Or....had second pair/Ace kicker(A-7 suited)and nailed the river as well as the missed straight scenario. The proper play was to value bet the end and put the tough decision on him the whole hand. If he raises you can muck it. Everything else swings your way.

    3. This seems like a pretty standard spot to check call the river to induce a bluff, snap call unless there is specific player tendency to consider. Most likely he had a busted straight or flush draw. Most of the time he doesn't have the 7. The capping and pushing card forward seems like an act, makes me feel like he is bluffing even more.

    5. and to the unknown dealer, the action was on him first on every street.

    6. I thought you acted first in the hand. It is a bit different if he donk bet the river because it is not you inducing a bluff. I am still leaning towards a call though.

    7. Tony did say "i check, he bets $60 which smells like a bluff." Which led everyone to believe that he had 1st action so if this is true it is his fault for checking the river.

    8. Tony, can you re-read your original hand history? You said you checked on the river, then he bets $60. Which is it, who had the first action?

Also, did he put the $1 on his cards and push it forward after it looks like you were going to call, or did he cap his cards right after the bet?

    9. Tony says..."vook disagreed with u. (i posted in the zach tells boook thread on 2+2)"

Tony, don't you think the answers may be different if you post different hand history for the same hand, in different places?

    10. this much time later, i no longer remind who acted first.

    11. I may have asked you this before, but please, please stop posting hand histories. It is totally pointless since you always leave out important info, and you rarely if ever respond to questions afterwards. What a waste of time.

  6. Tony,

It's normal for your gums to be sore after having a tooth/teeth pulled. Give it a couple days it should gradually get better. I wouldn't worry unless the pain gets worse from now (obviously it got worse at first as the pain meds wore off).

I think you had work on both sides of your mouth, right? I would avoid any hard foods for a couple more days at least. Get some more mashed potatoes.

Some reasons why rooms are expensive the next two weeks, Monday is Memorial Day...lots of people who work a Monday through Friday job get Monday off because it's a holiday, and holiday weekends are busier in Vegas. Also Wednesday is the start of the WSOP and there will be lots of poker players and dealers in town next weekend from all over the country.

For the hand you described, I think tendencies are more reliable than tells. How long have you been playing with this guy? Have you seen him bluff? Does he always bet the river if it's checked to him? Does he check behind when he doesn't have a strong hand? Based on his betting frequency you may be able to guess whether or not he's bluffing sometimes. He could have anything from a monster to nothing. He might have had a pair of sevens and a straight draw and hit trips, he might have had a straight draw or flush draw and bet with nothing because you checked the river. What is his perception of you? Does he think you can be bluffed? Have you been playing tight? Have you showed any big laydowns recently? You need to use your judgment on the type of player he is to decide whether to call or not. There was $120 in the pot on the turn plus the $60 he bet, so it costs you $60 to win $180 so you are getting 3-1 on a call. If you think you have the best hand more than 1/4 of the time you should call. If this is a very straightforward opponent who won't ever/rarely bluffs you can probably fold, otherwise it's a pretty good time to call hoping to catch a bluff.

  7. "my bones are being eaten away by plaque"

When I first read this sentence, I thought it said your bones were being eaten away by plague, as in "The Plague." Glad to hear your problems are not so biblical in proportions.

  8. "im leaning towards calling, but then he puts $1 on his cards and pushes them slightly forward"

This seems like a tell where he is strong and is trying to goad you into calling him.

  9. im glad to see somewhat slight progress, no matter how miniscule, since sundays post. now back in the $8700s, had some wins at poker and got my $100 free play at the peppermill when i finally collected all the letters in the phrase "get revved up". i seem to be ok so far without dry socket, but i still feel problems in the gums, im afraid to chew meat, but im probably ok to do so now. its been 100+ hours now.

am quite disappointed in thursdays satellite. i just found out theres $50 rebuys in it so its basically worthless. (the free entry is worth $180) for the $1100 main event. everyone will be doing the rebuys and those who refuse wont stand a chance of making it to the top 10 seats or more.

    1. How is an entry that's worth $180 basically worthless?

      Delete
    2. because of the $50 rebuys, u will have no shot if u dont rebuy (most people WILL rebuy) and i sure aint going to spend money trying to win a seat in a $1100 tourny i dont even want to play in unless its free.

      Delete
    3. makes no sense to have the rebuys be a lower cost than the buyin anyway. $180 buyin with $50 rebuys?

      Delete
    4. Well, then think of this as a $50 buyin tourney with $50 rebuys. The tourney is still worth $50, whether you rebuy or not.

I have won plenty of satellites with rebuy structure, without making a rebuy. It is not impossible.

      Delete
    5. It can be done...just gotta get chips early then kick back until the rebuy period is over...Ive done it several times..yeah it sucks....especially if they allow rebuys for a ton of levels....but hey its free...make a move early and get chips....or bust out early and move to the cash table...don't waste alot of time playing tight early if you are not planning to rebuy,,,,get chips or get out

  10. By the way Tony, I finally signed up with Bodog/Bovada. Don't know what took me so long, since I have had accounts in every other major poker sites years ago. In any case, seems like there is a lot of good promos, even for sweet VBJ. Interesting the promos are different between Bodog and Bovada (US facing), even though they have the same player base. Looks like the poker signup bonus can be earned twice as fast on Bovada.

  11. i got to sleep so i wake up for todays noon satellite. won $59, new roll $9256 and rents due today. a guy from Plano knew kingofdonks real well from a cardroom there in TX, (underground?) and another traveling poker dealer named Karen knew AKgal from the jackpot tourny event. i was lucky to get even today, was stuck about $300 once.

    1. Don't fret over the rebuys in that noon satellite Tony. That gives you the opportunity to call light all-ins from the argos and if you don't get sucked out on you double up. Or....

If you just aren't feeling it in the flurry of rebuys from the big blind pull off this move: call an all-in with the might deuce-four or even deuce-seven-off and see if you lay a bad beat on an argo. (or to honor Lightning call with Q-10 which in some poker rooms they call the HoChunk Nuts)

Any way in which you might decide to play this satellite good luck!
