Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun

To start off this trip report, lets celebrate by saying tonight i finally hit the $27,000 mark for the first time. Theres been lots of wins and losses of over $1000 since leaving Reno, but mostly wins. Tonight i won $145 in the $2-5 game, which ive played about 23 hours of total so far, (since leaving Reno) with a winrate of $58 per hour. And yes, i know thats way too small of a sample size. to get a much larger sample size i should be doing NOTHING but playing $2-5 about 50+ hours a week. Instead i waste time in PLO high, where i play awful, and PLO8, where i just ran really bad for an $832 loss. the night before though, i bought in the $1-2 NL game with $100 (why did i buy in so low, when i normally always buyin the $300 max now?) and cashed out $1799 about 13 hours later.

yes lots of swings, and much good luck on the live BJ too, though ive played very little of it at foxwoods, and good luck on the VBJ that shuffles every hand in AC.

i still need to check out twin rivers, ive heard they give out really good mailers if u play a ton first, and there the VBJ doesnt shuffle every hand. also the poker room will be open this year i think soon.

my rent is costing me over $400 a week, and a lot more when i was paying up to $171 a night at some nice casinos. but i had no room saturday night because everything was sold out because i didnt book ahead of time, and i wasnt going to pay $599 either. this is a nice room, looks more like an apt than a hotel, and a nice kitchen.

but they can only guarantee a stay of 2 weeks and i need to get to KS soon before mom gets unhappy, and ive still not got to check out NH either.

Also Bill Potts (not his real name) has been very friendly and helpful in driving me around but not for free. ive seen hes trustworthy because he showed me the $70k he had in his bankroll when moving it from his car to a safe deposit box.

and yes i do really need to see a dr, gots lots to ask him and ill need a dentist again too to look at some teeth. but first i guess ill see Josie before i might be checking out sunday and going to KS instead of renewing it for that 2nd week they reserved me for.

theres a WIDE selection of tables here at Foxwoods and some of the games are quite loose, including the $2-5 which surprises me. lots of tournies upstairs too which of course, i pay no attention to.

  1. It appears that your focus continues to be results oriented. "... i should be doing NOTHING but playing $2-5 about 50+ hours a week." This will change IMMEDIATELY if you have a losing session or suddenly variance bites you in the butt, right?

    1. lightning, you read it wrong. He was saying that to get good statistics re: 2/5, he would have to play nothing but 2/5 for 50+ hours per week. He just worded it oddly. Everything else in the post, though, suggest results-oriented thinking, so your basic premise was correct.

    2. Hi Jordan -- long time, no see! Yes, I understood what he was saying, but knowing Tony, it will only be a matter of time -- after one bad session -- when he will say that he shouldn't be playing $2/5.

  2. First of all, congrats on getting to a new high point in your bankroll. You could easily have lost thousands on Blackjack, but you got lucky. I understand the allure of playing BJ, especially after getting beat up in poker, but I don't think you are evening trying to control it right now. It is eventually going to devastate your bankroll if you keep going like this. You have a very healthy bankroll right now, please try to train yourself not to sweat the inevitable losing sessions in poker. If you want to reduce the swing, don't play PLO.

I got to say, it is really funny you think Bill Potts is trust worthy because he showed you $70k in his car trunk and moved it to a safety deposit box. Most normal people would have the opposite reaction, because the only people that keeps that much cash in a car trunk are usually gang bangers and drug dealers. There are high stake poker players that carry that much cash as well, but in this day and age, most people just wire the money instead of carrying it in a car trunk. I am not say Bill Potts is a bad guy, just your assessment process was out of wack.

  3. Why don't you play a tourney? The World Poker Finals are finishing up at Foxwoods this weekend and there's so much action. Play the satty to get into the main event with me! I'm playing it Thursday night. Invest some of those winnings in a tournament! It's only $300 and they guarantee 5 seats in the main event. (well 4, considering I'm getting one) Last longer bet? Huh punk?

  4. Also, why oh why are you antagonizing stealthmunk? You WANT people hating you?

  5. Josie: it looks like you are going to have to post the 2/5 table highlights? Congrats on the $600 score. But do tell, did Tony play some impressive hands that you witnessed???

  6. All that bragging about how good you are and that you cannot lose, just came back to bite you on the ass. You lost $5,000.00 in one day martingaling yourself to destruction. Congratulations. Maybe you also need to rethink the statement you made the other day about not needing as much money as you have. After your latest effort you need every penny you can get. See what happens when you brag!!
