Josie's at Foxwoods in a free room with her sister til saturday

both today and yesterday i got to spend a little time eating with Josie and playing a bit of poker at the tables, mainly the $2-5 NL tables. Also Bill Potts met her too, and then after she had gone to bed i ran into 2 other readers of my blog i didnt know were here.

and of course im still winning, (new roll $29,200) and some of the money came from Josie, who i put a bad beat on (but of course im not getting out when i flop 4 to a straight flush). a guy makes it $20 preflop, i call, because at the time im in a hurry to play a hand as im still down (unless u count the $220 i made playing BJ at mohegan sun earlier). and thats a whole other blog post in itself. Josie makes it $80 which seems like a weird bet, since she only has about $45-60 more behind. 4 of us see the flop and all i have is the 45 of spades. (has my game really loosened up?)

flop comes 86 of spades and a Q offsuit. guy checks a set of 888, i shove, josie calls with AA and the other guy calls behind me which i didnt want, but lucky for me i hit the flush on the turn and no one else improved. so ive suddenly got $800+ in chips in front of me from my $372 buyin. Josie leaves the table and says she wants to change games, and eventually heads to her room and never comes back out.

since shes gone, after another 45 minutes or so i go sit in the $1-2 PLO PLO/8 mix game and play there for about 4 hours more, eventually leaving dead tired and paying quite a bit more to get him to drive me home earlier than planned and he left his chips on the $2-5 game he was in because he didnt want to quit a good table. i was down from the $241 id bought in to like $200 (after first running it up to $386) but then i scooped a nice pot and left with a profit in that game too. so im still winning at everything i play. BJ, (a roulette machine the day before) a slot machine, $2-5, $1-2, u name it.

34 hours of $2-5 logged so far, and still over $70 an hour overall. not a bad win rate for $2-5, but i expect it to decrease by about half once i hit 1000 hours.

also i heard from Vince i got a letter about a certain ban at a property ive played at before removed. so the next time im in that area, i can play at this one casino again. glad to hear this too, and vince texted me out of the blue letting me know they wrote back and lifted it. its a casino id rather not mention here. Ban took place in 2003.

mom is constantly bugging me asking me if i will really be home after oct 20 and id rather just renew my room here im doing so well but i am quite worried about my health, my teeth and my scalp although i wont be at moms long enough to take care of it all but thats why i wish i could settle down and find housing somewhere stable. this is one of the best poker rooms ive ever been in and the easiest to win at. or maybe its just im playing $2-5.

about the only thing ive been unsuccessful at poker wise was the $300 stud tourny the other day. came in 51 out of 59, never was ahead once and won only 1 decent pot.

theres one bluff ive found works remarkably well that i get away with ALL the time. i will have a hand like 8T offsuit. flop will come 678 and ill bet and get a call. turn will come 4, i will check and a good knowledgeable young kid will bet about 2 3rds pot or more. i will call, knowing im not drawing dead. river will come 8 and he still makes a bet of not all that much but something, maybe 50% of the pot. i know im beat, but i ask him, if he will show if i fold, because i tell him i really dont think he has me beat, and being HU, i turn over the 8 and ONLY the 8.

finally, i shove and say "i just dont think u can beat this hand". the kid thinks and of course, they always fold their straight, swearing that i got the full house. (and thats where i always make the donkey move--i show the bluff once they muck).

  1. Honestly Tony if you pulled that move on me, I would snapcall even if I wasn't aware from the many examples in your blog that you are unbalanced toward the bluffheavy side with your theatrics. In my experience, every single player who has shown one card has been weak, so for me, the speech would strongly push me towards a call. Drop the theatrics, which just let good players know how you think, but for God's sakes if you're going to pull that move don't show it afterwards!

  2. You NEED to stay at your mom's to get your health checked out, get on the medications you need and take care of business. Nice that you got the ban lifted but what is the HURRY to leave a place you can get medical/dental help from?

Don't you miss your family at all?

    2. no i sure dont. tired of mom bugging me as to when im arriving, im sure that effected me tonight and caused the big loss, by wanting to hit $30k before i left and feeling like it was my final day. i dont think she can see a dr that fast anyway without him wanting a return visit and i sure dont want to be there very long with nothing to do there

    3. Time to put on the big boy pants. Your mom's "bugging you" -- her asking when you are arriving in Kansas so she can arrange transportation for you from the airport to her house -- was not the cause of your loss. It is you. All you.

So now because you lost like a stupid ass, you are not going to get the proper medical check up you know you need and can afford? Please make sure that someone has access to your BOA sockroll so someone can retrieve it when you croak.

  3. i put a bad beat on (but of course i'm not getting out when i flop 4 to a straight flush).

You have nearly 46% equity against Josie's hand after the flop, so how's that a bad beat?

  4. Foxwoods may be the easiest room I've ever played in, likely because people are calling raises from 20 to 80 with 5 high...

    1. Excellent observation, Coach. I hear the biggest donkeys on the planet travel there when they are 86ed from most Las Vegas rooms. Not that we would know anyone like that ...

    2. Stop spreading lies, you know full well Tony has never been banned since the old days of head-scratching, masturbation, and upsetting hookers at MGM!

  5. lost about $4200+ tonight, new roll $25k. most of it was lost on BJ, and $800 on $5-10 NL nothing hit and i tried to bluff the wrong guy. (my ride) also lost $500 on a bad shove in $2-5 NL. ran out of money in the middle of an impt BJ hand too and was slightly pissed at the lady sitting there not playing and the drunk guy coming up all wanting to socialize who was happy at the worst possible time

    1. People being happy is the worst. Those bastards should all be unhappy all the time just in case you are losing. Good job donking off over 4K in one night. Good luck Tony, you are going to need it.

good job donking off a reliable car in a single night of degeneracy. you realize you're going to be basically busto by the new year, right? with pretty much nothing to show for it except some over-priced hotel rooms and a new suitcase.
