what would u have done differently during tonights poker session?

in the Biltmore, theres a promotion wed and fri where u pick a envelope from a barrel to get this amount of free play. i think $1000 is the max, and $5 is what mostly all people get. i got $15 last friday.

i tried to fix my hours so id be awake to play the VBJ the best possible hours, 2am to 9am. i remembered the Hyatt poker room is open wed-sun 7pm-3am and i went to catch the 6pm bus. the next one and final one, is 7pm.

i didnt wish to catch the 7pm bus because i didnt want to have to wait for a seat so i wanted to be there right at 7pm. (when i thought the game would start). so i woke up about 5.53pm and rushed to get out the door, knowing the bus is often 5 min late. the promo is noon til midnight, so i couldnt draw an envelope before i went to sleep about 10am. so i never got to do it.

not only that i didnt think i had time to get change for $5 so i ended up giving the bus driver $5. the bus was full of people, but in this area, none of them speak english, and none were over 21. mostly very young foreign workers or schoolkids. there were a few mexican adults on it. no one spoke up they had change for the $5. turns out the bus was 14 minutes late, so i wouldve had time for both.

plus i needed food, the room is empty, and the grocery store in incline village is open 7am-11pm. the only 24 hour one is the 7-11 and the other grocery store in kings beach further out in the other direction. so i never got to buy ice cream sandwiches and instant potato mixes. and more 99c big size soups.

so i get to the casino close to 6.40pm, and i find out that on wed and thurs they have a $50 tourney first, with $30 addon/or rebuy, and the $1-2 dont begin til 8.30 when its over.

so i dont like this, but i decided to play, worried id lose more on the VP waiting. their green and black chips look alike, so the blinds were $25-50 with $1000 to start. 1 table of 10 paying 60-40. the person under the gun put out 2 chips, which i assumed were $50, so i called 5-6 diamonds on the button. this was after id won a small pot going allin with AJ when no one called, and i had like $1400. then the dealer tells me he'd announced the raise to $125, whether he did i dunno, then he made the smart ass remark "its a visual game" when at the opposite end u cant see the color. so i had to leave it in, so i called.

flop comes 569 and seat 1 goes allin. seat 3 folds. i call. turn 7, river 7, and his 9-2 (wtf) scoops the pot and i rebuy in the next few hands. (had $350 left).  he busted the tourny before me, hes horrible.

but i lost the rebuy too when i flopped 4 to the ace hi flush. so im out $80 no more rebuys, then lose $45 more on the VP during the 45 minutes i wait for $1-2.

i buyin $100, win some nice pots, against very loose players, and one was a successful bluff. but then i had $377 in front of me and i no longer wish to gamble. in fact, id like to leave early instead of waiting to ride home FREE at closing time with the boss as usual. but i feel dumb if i do this. i looked and looked and no uber ever showed up in this area closest were reno or south lake 20-25 miles out.

kept folding and a guy had his $200 max buyin up to $1000. he kept winning and it was a really loose game. he kept showing me his junk he kept making it $15-30 preflop with 8-5 diamonds, Q-3 etc. there is only 1 good player there whose seen my blog before.

so im waiting for a hand i wont have to fold with. then i finally get 99 on the button. i go $5 he goes $20 and only i call. were we not both so deep id re-raised. should i?

flop comes K36, he bets $25 i call. turn comes K, he bets $30, i shove because theres so many things that he might beat me with on the river i beat now, and i wanted no action, he calls with KA and i left immediately very pissed i didnt quit when i wished to and just wait for a cab for $20.

so yes lousy nite, new roll $6460. took the cab, got some things in the 7-11 but not near enough. will now go to the VBJ. got the $590 online still. waiting on a bitcoin requested withdrawal for some of it

  1. Did the thought that he had any one of numerous combinations that included a king ever enter your mind or even if not a king the possibilities of TT, JJ, QQ, AA, 33, OR 66, need I go on?. Just because a guy is playing bad hands doesn't mean he can't come up with a good one every now and then. When he bets 30 why not raise it to 75 or 80 and if he comes back over the top you can get away from it and not lose the entire stack.

So you had a losing session and now you wanna play VBJ. Do I really need to post another picture of a train wreck for you?

    1. theres nothing to do here, but sit in the room online bovada, or sit on the VBJ. i didnt raise small because then i wont know what to do on the river if a card above the 9 comes and about half my $350+ would be in by then anyway. besides if i do raise small and he reshoves, he is the type who might be doing this with air. so then what do i learn?

    2. You learn that your 9,9 is no good and that you should wait for a better spot. Let him try to bluff you when you have a big hand instead of you trying to bluff him with a mid pair.

    3. i wouldnt know if 99 is good or not if he goes over the top when he might do it with air.

i didnt know i was bluffing, odds were id be ahead since id been watching how he played. this was the first hand id not had to fold in ages

i know what i did wrong, it was not leaving when i was uncomfortable with how much i now had on the table

    4. I know I have said this before but likely more than two years ago: why not carry a paperback book with you that fits in your pocket and simply chill out and read when you need to kill time waiting for a bus or cab or whatever???

    5. I have a totally weird idea. Your friend Karen lives in the area and is in a wheelchair and there's probably a ton of help you could give her. Her husband works a full time job and if you did something like washing dishes or light housework or even taking care of her animals, she would appreciate it! It will make you a better friend and it's cheaper than blackjack!

    6. You say there is nothing to do besides VBJ and Bovada. Well, if you could do anything else in the world, what would it be? All you do is gamble, so hearing you say there is nothing to do but gamble makes me wonder what else it is that you want to do that you cannot do because it is unavailable.

    7. stop trying to justify your trash shove.

    8. Oh boy, FlushhDraw recommends to raise "for info"...I've already told you you are an atrocious player and you never fail to disappoint.

Tony might have played the hand poorly but you manage to lecture him with a very condescending tone AND give an "advice" that is even worse than what Tony did...congrats really.

Remember the many leaks you have that I told you about and you claim to not have ? You just exposed one to everyone here so thank you for that :)

    10. i wish she would come share this nice suite in the biltmore, take me out for a drive around the mountains, rent a boat and drive me out onto the lake, spring the money for a good meal, and let me see the inside of northstar. never got to just take time off because im too stressed over coming up with money all the time.

    11. then take us out for some golf, rent me some clubs, a golf cart, etc.

    12. I think you misunderstood AC's comment. She suggested that YOU help a friend who could possibly need some help, not that your friend should spend her money and time on YOU. I swear, Tony, I would laugh if your response wasn't so sad to read.

    13. Lightning will be glad to know that ive spent over $36 now repaying mom for my sons gift. ordered 2 more items this morning out of the small gains in the roll since leaving louisiana.

im sure no one else would (if they were in the same financially desperate situation as me where 100% of their time must be spent trying to win money to survive) expect someone else to donate time for free, nor do it if they were me. just an example of self righteousness Ray talks of to make themselves look good at others expense they wouldnt dream of doing themselves.

ac isnt willing to spend time and money on me, yet shes far more in a position to for someone in need than me. i have no way to get to karens house, nor know where it is, without like $50 uber fares each trip. nor would she even want the bother.

100% of my time needs to be spent taking care of myself. for i dont, and until i earn enough $ i never will be able to. but i can help myself by spending 100% of my time trying to get the $. whether my gambling ends up being plus or minus ev wont effect a thing over the long run, the point is, im trying, whether i end up trying rightly or wrongly.

    14. You say that 100% of your time needs to be spent taking care of yourself. Let me ask you if your scalp and teeth are part of you? How about your gums? Lightning is your friend by the way and just lost his mother. Did you call or text him your condolences or is life all about TBC?

By the way, I am quite disappointed in the way you've treated Karen. She really did look out for you the last time you were in Reno when she could still get around. And this is how you repay her kindness to you...

      Delete
    15. And if Karen needs you to help her with stuff and I was in the area, I would totally take you. Character building is priceless.

    16. For the record, Tony did text me. Thanks, Tony.

"just an example of self righteousness Ray talks of to make themselves look good at others expense they wouldnt dream of doing themselves."

Not surprisingly, Tony, you are wrong again. I have seem AC do many things for friends in Las Vegas. I have seen tons of people attempt to help you in one way or another. You just don't get it. People don't do that stuff looking for pats on the back. They don't it to help other people. Some people might call it "living their religion."

And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” Jesus answered, “The most important is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this:‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

    17. thx for mentioning those texts wondering how u were feeling, and what i mean is she wouldnt if dead broke stressed over money. nor would most others, theyd be 100% concerned over getting money. this is why homeless people, meth whores, etc, dont work out for relationships and u get screwed over so much. they cant conceive of nothing but coming up with as much money as possible, as quickly as possible, at whatever the longterm cost. none of u will be ever be in this situation.

i thought i was past this point for good when i hit $20,000. least im back from $5k to $7k

  2. Tony

Think about it this way. If you shove 99 he will only call when you are beat. If you think you are good there much of the time, the far better play is to make a smaller raise and let he keep bluff shoves in his range. If you just shove he is folding all bluffs and calling all value.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i wanted him to fold bluffs, because bluffs with hands like Q-8, J-10, etc, those will beat me on the river everytime whenever anything higher than my 9's hits.

another thing bugging me tonight. not the tooth rotted away on the left far side thats been needing taken out, but the one close to the front on the right with the big cracked hole, its been sore most of the night. it wasnt the one which was the first priority.

    2. Total waste of time saying this, but GET TO A DENTIST -- NOW!

    3. so you want him to fold his 6 outs instead of just barreling off to you? you're seriously a horrible poker player who will never beat 2/5 nl or higher or any stakes plo

  3. Tony: saying there is "nothing to do" is a bad excuse. The Tahoe Biltmore is directly on one of the most beautiful lakes in America. Go for a walk! Listen to music! This is what people do when they find themselves in a nice location. If you find more balance in your life you will find more balance at the poker table. Own your decisions and be patient; going all in with 99 is a bad play and you know it

  4. The guys is not going no where with AK. The best scenario for the hand is you raise, he re-raises you call ( need chips to fire after the flop). He misses, you fire a big bet to offend his pride and most importantly his ego. Then you two can have a "cock fight" for the pot. Depending on the size of his "ego" you may take all his chips if he misses.

  5. Next poker scenario please. The guys here in Toledo want to vicariously play your hands through my 20 year old computer.

  6. Here's what I would have done differently. I would have gone to a dentist, then gone to a doctor, then called my son in Kansas and then booked a trip to visit him. I would also look up GA meetings near where your son lives.

  7. TBC Its a poker session. Sometimes you get the best of it sometimes you don't. I never worry how I do on any one day. Its called variance. I add up my wins and loses for the year and than start over next year. Of course I have a steady income outside of poker so it is much different for me.

  8. wow thanks for the laugh. that 99 shove is one of the worst shoves i've ever heard of in my life.

  9. i really wasnt wanting comment so much on how i played the hand, as my overall decision making for the night. (not leaving the game when i didnt wish to keep playing due to money issues). or missing out on my envelope pull and giving $5 for the bus. not rebuying mightve been a poor decision too, it was a loose game, and had i stayed 2 more hours wouldve saved me $20 cab ride.

no one commented on these far more important issues.

    2. You played the 99 hand terribly, it was a good idea to leave because you would probably lose a lot more otherwise.

Shoving 99 on the turn is donkey play. Like others have said, he is not folding anything that beats you, and you lose value when he folds air. I would either fold the turn, or call and reevaluate the river. Villain bet small on the turn to induce a bluff and you fell for it.

As far as no wanting to play when you had a big stack, yes you should have just left. Why the heck did you end up punting your stack with such a weak hand? What a waste of a juicy game.

    3. leaving bc you're up a few hundred bucks is a dumb way to think. either you're +ev at the table or you aren't.

worry less about playing poker with 300 dollars and more about your idiotic decisions to play pit games and machines (you are NOT close to an AP)

Your life lacks real meaning Sir and your not totally lacking intelligence so I don't know why you haven't gotten it yet. Best of wishes playing POKER. I'll be reading your posts at random your a bit boring at times so you dint capture my attention full time. Like the trooper, he does the same shit all the time.
