what should i do

Been outside of Vegas a bit, unsure of where i want to go (or end up whether its where i really want to be or not). so many choices, but at least something i dislike about each of them. Had i not turned the $20k into $8k this April, id feel like so many more options were open to me. (most of the options involve the cost of travel, and or prepaying 2 months or so in lodging costs.) then sometimes the options dwindle due to casinos closing VBJ machines being removed, etc. for example, i noticed the Pioneer removed their good machine, replacing it with one that sucks, and the same for the Tropicana in laughlin. and the new $3 VBJ min one in vegas i never got around to playing and investigating the shuffle point, since Vince was in a hurry to pick up his friend flying in from Fresno. (ray the dealer from Ventura).

accidently left my ID in a casino the other day and didnt discover it til later. thankfully, security had it and i got it back. otherwise id been screwed. had quite a lot of bad luck in Omaha hilow this weekend too. lost $210 over 3 sessions, but won a little in BJ. won some in NL too. on the turn, id have KT for the nut straight, as did he, with my A of hearts for the nut flush redraw and better straight redraw, so of course we capped it. and on the river he improved his 2 pair redraw with his KT. lost almost $50 on this 1 pot.

I'm wondering if ill be in town by the time lightning comes in for labor day weekend. possibly. Tatude will be in town on the 24th too. i might just go to reno instead of toledo or florida which im strongly thinking of doing when im back up north. i did watch vince go swimming in lake mohave, so far out and deep in the water u could only see his head.

at least last nights hotel, (which im moving out of this morning so i can enter this tourny i managed to qualify for) had nice wifi, nice fridge/microwave, and no resort fee. very rarely do i get strong signal for the wifi. too bad its like $2800 if u took it for 30 nights. not sure if they would let u.

  1. I would pick one place to live. All the traveling costs and rent you pay is more expensive then the rent you would pay if you stayed in one place.

All the hours spent traveling are hours lost that could be spent at the poker table. Which is money lost. If your a winning poker player.

I would focus on the game where I win the most money.
    - My guess is that is poker but correct me if I am wrong.

I would avoid video black jack, video poker, and black jack.
    - If there is a machine that is giving away money, then sooner or later the casino will remove it.
    - If there is a game where I can beat the casino, they will change it.
    - In poker the casino does not care if you win because they are making there money off the rake.

I would work on plugging leaks in my poker game.

Eat healthy, exercise, and enjoy life.

  2. lightning is flying in THIS weekend, so you'd better stick around. He was talking to me last evening about taking his wife and you out to dinner early next week. I hope he doesn't mind me making this public. I suggested Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris. Perhaps he can bring a disguise for you to wear so you can get in. I had been thinking along the lines of a Donald Trump mask, but lightning can't stand the guy. Perhaps a Melania mask? lightning being seen at dinner with two hot chicks would boost his ego immensely.

    1. Maybe lightning can show you the list I sent him of the Dealer's Angels VBJ machines. then you can plan your travels better.

  3. Dont bother with tampa, the SHR just implemented a $10 parking fee. But you don't really have a car so I guess it doesn't matter.

  4. Im sure you keep track of all of your winnings, losings, income, and expense. And you may have tons of data of making money in what game, place, stakes, time frame and also where you lose money in, expense, life style.

As a poker player, specially a winning player, you know what edge to focus and what leaks to be fixed.

    Cant agree more with Nappy's.

  5. I won't offer any opinions on what you should do, Tony. I do have a question, however:

Do you track your win/loss at Omaha?

I only ask because it seems like you almost always lose at the game, regardless of what type of Omaha you're playing. I would have guessed that would be a +EV game for you, since fewer folks play it frequently, but most of the time you post about that game, it's a loss.

So, first, is it accurate that you are down overall on Omaha (any version) over the last 5 years or so? If so, why do you think you lose more frequently at that game?

    thanks,

    s.i.

    1. sure its tracked its why my hourly is now much closer to $16 than slightly over $17 for around 1600 hours. i have bad luck with omaha since they dont offer it NL format

    2. In other words, you don't track Omaha results seperately from your NLHE results.

    3. You're winning $16 an hour at Omaha? If so, I certainly take back my comment about you being a losing player at that game.

Or is that for all games and not just omaha? Your last comment makes it sound like that's not the omaha figure...if it's not, what is the hourly $ for Omaha?

      thanks,

      s.i.

    4. Tony - do you track just omaha? If not, it seems that you're not a winning player at omaha, from what you've posted in the past.

If you're not winning at omaha, what's your guess as to why that is? I would have assumed that would be your biggest edge, as not many people have a lot of omaha experience. I remember your old screen name used to be "onlygoforlow" or some sort of omaha reference, so I assume you've played it a lot. Why do you think you don't have an edge in that game?

You comment above made no sense: "i have bad luck with omaha since they dont offer it NL"? I know you're smart enough to know it's not "bad luck". And what about it being pot limit or limit makes you lose at it?

    5. tony is an utterly deplorable plo player for a few reasons.

1)his main edge in nlhe is his patience when not tilting. he can wait for super premium hands and stack 1/2 nl donks who aren't paying much attention or just like to gamble. in plo hand equities run a lot closer. so in hold em he can get qq+ ,make a huge raise get an idiot or 2 caller and generally be hugely ahead on the flop.

in plo you can't win playing like this. so he goes broke with overpairs, 2 pair w no redraws etc when he's smashed.

he also has a huge tilt problem and plo is a terrible game for someone like that.

These are similar reasons as to why he'll never beat anything 2/5 or higher , except in plo the inability to play well post flop and tilting hurt him even more than they would in hold em.

Tony is at his best when he can get a huge % of his stack in preflop with a premium (usually while short stacking). This isn't possible in plo.

If tony would actually buy in deep at plo he would get absolutely slaughtered in plo. Unfortantely he usually buys in very short and is extremely annoying to have at the table so even though he's dead money he really isn't worth having at the table.

    6. btw i have only played plo high with tony. it's possible he isn't quite as bad at hi low although i imagine he's still pretty bad.

    7. he asking about omaha8, not PLO high which i played very little of. Recent bad luck in the riverside was high low $2-6 spread limit. my cell phone could find the omaha only sessions, theyre lowering my hourly. best i quit playing nothing but $1-2. even this isnt where my high hourly came from, lot of it was from shreveport's $1-3 NL

    8. I've played O8 with Tony a few times and thought he was pretty good at it.
