Freeroll coming up soon, but not soon enough

wow. i didnt realize til i brought this up just now how long its been since i last updated the blog. i lose interest in it when its not making me any money. speaking of making money, i would love to know if the troopers utube videos earn him money. I cant spend too much time on this blog, because im in my 2 free nites in the eldorado and i must check out by noon. and its after 5 am, i just quit the game since its getting short, (and they never reduce the rake) and i felt im being outplayed. at least i still won, a bit over $140. But still, im only at $13,500 of the $14,100 i had 2-3 days ago. while im doing this, im listening to the VP debate. its too bad Pence isnt the one at the top of the ticket.

im up to 34th place in hours now for the upcoming nov 4 freeroll where the qualifying ends oct 17. at least u get paid right then, without having to wait til after u play the freeroll where the final $35000 will be divided up. but the 30 people in the top hours will get their $1000 immediately, plus the $500 for those in place 31-60. i would be way up in the top 10 if i wouldve arrived 1 month sooner. i'm putting in tons of hours.

not doing good for october, winning nothing for this month, the week before i was winning everyday. still eating my free buffet everyday, and if u have a hotel room, your key will open the door to the gym where theyres free bottled water and apples inside and no employees. i think the reason im winning far less now is everyones learned exactly how i play. i do far better when in new locations all the time, this is why owning a car van or RV would earn me so much more money. plus i seem to be running bad i can think of several hands this week where i suffered bad beats. wish i could remember them so i could post them. i finally got a bank statement too, so im going to learn how to screen it with my phone to see if i can get my bovada address changed for ignition.

if my offers for rooms promo chips and free play end in novemeber since im playing only poker in the eldorado (and nothing at all in sams town,) after the freeroll would be the right time to head towards florida. these offers are the big incentives keeping me here since my winrate is dropping. $31 per hour now for over 600 logged hours in shreveport. when i left, it was $37 per hour for about 450 hours. if it could only sustain $25 hour when it hits 2000 hours, i could then be rich finally earning $50k per year, but i seriously doubt it wouldnt go below it. my overall is still only a bit less than $16 for every room in the US combined.

  1. I think one of those new high-tech self-driving cars would be perfect for you Tony once they have a model that is a minivan converted into a mini-RV. I am pretty sure if you own a self-driving car you do NOT need a drivers license.

  2. What do you mean your blog isn't making you money? You just got a bunch of free stuff 2 weeks ago because of this blog.

Do you take into account the cost of travel impact on your bottom line? It doesn't matter to have a higher win rate if your constant moving expenses eat up all the gain and more. It sounds like you have found a great place to play, doesn't make sense to move again. Just stop telling everyone how you play.

  3. Have you done the MATH on vehicle ownership? Maintenance of the car, registration, insurance? You seem to think that owning a car costs nothing.

    1. i doubt it would cost more than $75 per month on the insurance, and all misc, and like $150 more for gas. but it would bring in tons more income and cut out about $500 plus worth of other living costs.

    2. with no driving history at your age you would end up with a "risk" policy that is double or triple the going rate for the average driver who has been driving since they were a teenager.

    3. Tony:

According to AAA, it costs about $725 per month to operate a car (excluding cost of car). You estimate of $75 per month differs significantly from their study.

      Something to consider: https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/loans/total-cost-owning-car/

    4. SI, that study includes interedt/financing and depreciation for the car.

  4. Alysia why would Tony worry about the vehicle cost and maintenance as he doesn't worry about his teeth or his health until it gets so bad and why would he buy car insurance as he doesn't bother with health insurance he would rather stick it to the emergency care places like he does with his cell phone bills...

    1. Cell phone bills have not been stiffed since he did that deal with Vince. The healthcare bills are another story though...

    2. Tony, what does the word "maintenance" mean to you? Please do not ignore tis question because it is a very important question that should be answered. Your health, your relationships, your bankroll could all benefit from incorporating this simple word into your life.

    3. the guy 2late4u is an ass, considering i went and paid $125 to see the dr instead of stiffing an er. i only visited the er when i felt i was having a serious heart attack, and not for minor things. i basically avoid most things unless emergencies this is the only way to maintain a bankroll, which is the most important thing to maintain

      Delete
    4. Tony:

Many people ("an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!") would argue avoiding the steps needed to KEEP you from going to the ER (regular check ups, fitness, brushing, etc...) are much better for maintaining a roll than waiting for an emergency that will probably cost A LOT more...

  5. Whatever you do don't leave Shreveport. You haven't even given it a real chance. Thirty dollars an hour is a great win rate for $1-2 just stop being lazy and put in the hours if you really want to run up your bankroll. What are you constantly running from? You found an excellent place to play with juicy action everyday but you want to throw it all away. It just doesn't make any sense. At least give it a couple of months. Just relax, play some poker and take care of your health issues. There is nothing wrong with staying put in one place and making a good income. You aren't going to find a place with a better win rate anywhere else for the stakes that you play. You have to admit that your win rate in Shreveport is the best you have experienced in all of your travels.

    1. the winrate for october so far is only $7 per hour for the first 85 hours. its going slow

    2. Such a small sample size is meaningless, you should know this. If you really want to make some money get a subscription to Live at the Bike and start watching all the videos. It is only $20 a month and it will help you with your game and probably some of your life leaks as well if you could follow their advice. Whatever you do don't leave Shreveport. First step to becoming a true poker pro is to find an area with juicy games. The second step is to set up shop and just start printing money. You really need to start working on your game. If you don't ever work on your game the game will leave you behind.

    3. with todays $377 loss, the win rate is under $1 per hour for october. this is why i feel its worthless to be here, i cant win here no more like i could in april. waiting to pick up the $1000 on october 18, and go. or go nov 7 once the freeroll been done. a much better method to learn is to discuss hands on this blog (if i wouldnt forget them) or with friends. why not post the specific hands u remember which i dont from playing my table? it gets way too frustrating to sit there when tired and wanting to go, but not because im down. then eventually lose close to $400 and go. im sick of seeing others with money who deserve it much less than me because theyre such suckers, who just dont care about the money.

    4. "a much better method to learn is to discuss hands on this blog (if i wouldnt forget them) or with friends. why not post the specific hands u remember which i dont from playing my table?"

Since you refuse to take literally anyone's advice, and you admit you can't even remember hands, how is this a "better" method to learn anything?

You should just say your don't want to work on your game instead of making BS excuses.

      Delete
    5. That is one of the things they teach you, don't play tired just to try to get even for the day. You aren't going to get much from discussing hands on this blog because you can't remember the hands that you play. You are a fool if you leave Shreveport and you don't deserve to win the money if you don't change your thinking and start working on your game. Sitting at the table and waiting for a good hand isn't working on your game, it is just lazy gambling. Whatever you do don't leave Shreveport. My words of advice would be to not play tired and you need someone to help you rate the game that you are in. Table selection is really important when it comes to overall winrates. When you are playing a session and the thought crosses your mind that you should quit then that is usually what you should do. Ok I have a thought. Next session you play take a little notepad from the room and track the number of times that you go all in. Write down all in and what street of action the all in was on. At the end of the session you can add them up and see which street you are going all in on the most. If most of your all ins are preflop or on the flop then that means that you are taking high variance lines that take alot of skill out of the game. I would still start watching Live at the Bike if I was you. The stable of pros they have are world class cash players and it is such a great community to be a part of and grow your game.

  6. "i think the reason im winning far less now is everyones learned exactly how i play."

Does this mean you are playing with the exact same people everynight, or is this a made up excuse because sometimes you will have losing sessions? I'm sure that someone has told you at some time, that if you stop showing the bluffs that you brag about it might make people think differently. If you really think people are waking up to your style of play, why don't you change it instead of running away again? Might save you a shit load of money.

Tony, have you ever sat down and worked out just what it costs to run and maintain a car over month? Have you ever considered the insurance cost, the parking costs as well? You may be surprised that this could be upwards of a $1000 a month or more? You have been talking about learning to drive as long as I have been reading this blog. Lets face it Tony, like looking after your health and teeth, it ain't ever gonna happen.

    1. my mother owns a very old car she dont use much. spends less than $50 per month on gas, and about $500-700 once or twice per year on insurance. maybe also a few hundred a year if something needs fixed, but nowhere near the price u suggest

      Delete
    2. Tony, you do realize the insurance rate for someone with decades of driving experience, who does use their car much is going to be a lot less than someone with no experience. Insurance also varies a great deal based on location. Repairs and gas cost depends on how much you drive, and cost of the car has to be spread over the expected life of the car. There is no way you will spend as little as your mom.

      Delete
    3. In fairness insurance wouldn't cost tony much (not that he'll ever actually learn to drive) It would cost more than an experienced driver- but it's still dirt cheap in these bum fuck middle of nowhere towns Tony would live in.

    4. Tony quit showing your bluffs and when you bluff you have to quit over betting the pots you pushed 185$ in on the river after calling 30$ twice with an open ended straight draw and you acted so fast if I woulda been playing I woulda called your ass with pocket 2's... And another thing when your in a hand keep your mouth shut they've figured out every time you say (well it's time for me to go I guess I'll go all in) you're holding the nuts and when you make a crazy amount over bet (163.50) lol or something that dumb and do it with out any thought at all and without hesitation they know your bluffing so my advice quit showing hand and explaining your bluffs you prolly show 60% of the time when your in a hand and that's insane. Look just wear you some ear phones and listen to something while your playing your mouth is your biggest tell so stop showing your cards and keep your mouth shut and I promise your win rate in Shreveport will skyrocket

      Delete
    5. Tony keep your mouth shut and quit showing your bluffs and explaining why you bluffed in the first place... And when u do bluff you gotta quit drastically and thoughtlessly overbetting the pot without thinking the hand through because when you made a 185$ river bet after calling 30$ on flop and turn with a open ended straight draw I knew exactly what you had and Ida snap called your ass with pocket 2's had I been playing.... And you gotta stop with the ( It's time for me to go I guess I'll go all in )because that line comes every time you have the nuts and I've heard ppl talking about it.. So my advice put headphones in, shut your mouth, and quit showing your cards because you show prolly 60% of the time and that's ridiculous

  7. There is no point giving Tony advice on vehicle maintenance or ownership. The only way he will ever get a vehicle is if someone gives it to him, and that is not going to happen. I'm pretty sure he does not even know how to drive. It's just another thing for him to mention randomly, like how he is going to fix his teeth and his scalp, and how he plans to move somewhere to play for a long while. It's just filler. He is not getting an RV. He is not going to the dentist. He is not going to a doctor. He is not going to stay put. He will continue to wander around the country, fleeing from each place on a whim, until his various maladies catch up with him and he dies from something like an untreated scalp or gum disease. Vehicle maintenance is as irrelevant to Tony as teaching him how to pay taxes.

  8. i'm glad to report that the last 3 sessions of yesterdays and todays play since publishing this blog were winning sessions, putting me back to $14,200 again. the goal is $1000 for the top 30 hours, plus to win some money in the freeroll itself, and be over $16,000 by nov 7th, and over $20k by christmas. one thing that really bugs me where im living is that my internet works fine here for everything but one, i cannot login to facebook games on my laptop here. must go to other casino hotels to do it and it drives me nuts i cant from home.

    1. 100% better, in the way of every time im down $300-500 theyll be less pressure to recover it immediately. or in putting more than $120 on the table when first sitting down. will be able to prepay 1 month rent too instead of 1 week at a time. probably should buy a better laptop too, then maybe i wouldnt have these issues. but the main way life will change is the snowball effect. u see im now turning $8k back into $20k, and slowly getting closer to 20 than 8. but when u work with 20k to turn it into 50k within 1-2 yrs this is where the big changes happen.

      Delete
    2. That's a very good theory Tony. But in reality, what happened when you turned $30K back into $8K like you did last time? You panicked at every turn and ran all over the Country like a blue ass fly trying to find Nirvana, and ended back up in Shreveport.

    1. if on the jury i would vote not guilty of course, its ridiculous how instead of charging the advertiser with an offense, they would charge the owner of the newspaper where the advertisement was placed. 99% of the ads on backpage sell housing, rentals, cars, merchandise, services etc, with nothing whatsoever to do with prostitution. its not HIS fault some of the advertisers misuse the forum. this is wrong and overreach of the govt authority. it kills the first amendment and the freedom of the press, doesnt anyone agree?

  12. Most cop cars have technology now that read license plates to check the computer for valid registration. I would not focus on drivers license issues as you won't get someone to register the vehicle for you. You aren't winning because you are playing scared poker in a loose town. You are in a place where people come from Texas to play and want to have fun. You get free food every day and just have to manage your living expenses. If you go to Florida you will lose to loose college kids and nitty locals. Start thinking of that Freeroll money as a bonus instead of something to obsess about.

  13. Hi Tony. How ya been? Don't take up driving now. Not worth it. Besides, residency issues will preclude you from attaining a Driver License, as well as the registration, insurance and inspection issues. All States have their own rules but one thing is uniform...residency. The insurance comes first even before you apply for the license. Then the car purchase and registration to that State. That's the order. Even so you would have to borrow a car from someone for the driver's test first, before looking to buy. That car would also have to be owned, registered, and operated legally in the State you take the test, as part of the residency issue. It's a bitch because if you are an Illegal "immigrant", they pretty much hand you anything you want across the board from driver licenses, to health care, housing, and free food. This is especially disturbing to someone like me, who is a 13th generation American(1670-present/Colonial) that will get asked for ID just to receive a Senior Discount or buy beer at the local Sev. Happy Columbus Day!

  14. I honestly dint know why (when your roll was 20k) you didn't play a little 2-5nl. Instead if I remember right you played big in black jack. If your skilled at all and I think you may be, your losing potential profit by not playing 2-5nl. Your roll is too low right now but my piece is said.
If there is something that I can take away from my experience it's that real world money made outside of poker is hard to come by. Therefore afirmed by your blog writting bankroll management is paramount. Strating from the course un just one night has been disastrous for so many poker players. Myself included. 2-5nl....fck bj......nuff said

    ReplyDelete
  15. I hope you are doing well Tony. Have you decided how and when you are going to take care of your dental problems yet? The bankroll seems to have increased since the last time and you can't keep putting it off without consequences.

I think it's unreasonable to expect poker earnings to be linear all the time as it's just not how poker works. Even a winning player can see weeks of losing in a row even with a positive expectation every time he sits down. You're analyzing your hourly over too small a sample size to draw any conclusions either way but you base your decision to move everywhere on this very data.

Take the hard road for once. Get your teeth worked on, go to Vegas to have a variety of rooms to play in and where you can also chase promotions without the associated travel costs. Stop fucking moving. Try to get your various casino bannings rescinded by reasonably contacting the staff in charge of such things.

Given that you are unwilling to give up gambling I think that's the best course of action (besides quitting altogether which IMO would be the ideal life move for you).
