Professional poker players dont deserve a LOWER standard of living than the rest of the population, do u agree?

first off, let it be said i NEVER play candy crush saga on my cell at the poker table, only bejeweled. i dont like the small sized screen and prefer to play it on my laptop. im over level 1191 by the way. one thing thats really been bugging me this time in shreveport is my games on facebook, both candy crush and farm heroes saga, will NOT load in my room where i pay by the week. they will ONLY load when in my free rooms in sams town and in the eldorado. which it seems i will still have in november, just got my november offers. how long does it take to cut someone off? im setting a record for the length of time without playing VP or live BJ. and im not playing VBJ machines here either, for those dont exist in shreveport. just run thru my free play 6 times per month at $30 each in sams town instead of 4 times for $34, and the $115 per week in promo chips in the eldorado. people who know my propensity to play those games whove followed this blog for yrs, such as Josie and lightning, know what a major accomplishment this is. This is the main reason i expect to be successful in being much more financially successful by the time im 50 as long as we arent attacked by the Russians with nuclear weapons simply because too many republicans didnt get out to vote for Trump.

on friday night im sitting in a great $1-3 NL game in the eldorado. I'm in the game for $460, and at one point have not much over $200. then i win several hands in a short period of time, including one that amazed me when a new young player whose not a regular and isnt there to get freeroll hours sits on my left and buys in deep. i think he lost back some of his win before this took place if i remember correctly. ive got AK and raise the $6 straddle UTG to $34 in late position. so he makes it $80 on my left, whether we were the blinds or he was the button i dont remember. everyone else got out preflop, and the flop comes A 10 3 with 2 spades. i bet $135 and he goes allin for like $200 more, maybe less. i like the flop because i think it gives him less likely to hold AA. but he goes allin so quickly i worry hes got the set. turned out he only had JJ and i won big.

then shortly thereafter he was replaced by a nice guy whose really good, and bought in for $700. i left to eat, and took my chips. there were 4 women in the game at one point too, including the girl next to me on the other side who swore to me she worked in the strip club but the guy claimed she used to work in the poker room and now floors in the horseshoe. wish i knew whats true. the employees all know her, ive seen her in before talking to the staff, but never playing. she clearly didnt care about the money, was playing really loose.

so i went to eat, then when i got back, sat in the omaha hilow game. why? cause my hour wasnt up yet and Greg swears he wins in that game, dont see how. my win rate logged on my cell is negative $12 per hour in omaha for the year. its $10-20 limit and i lost $400 in the game (almost) over the next 5 hours or so. this gave back a large chunk of the $600 id just won before i went to eat.

So i wanted to have something for the win i had. for this was the biggest $1-3 NL win in quite some time ($460 buyin with a cashout of $1059) i knew i was tired of not being able to play games on facebook at home, I wish i had a bigger fridge too. but i dont like the idea of spending like $150 week more on housing to get it either. wish there was extended stay america here like there is in vegas. and i still need to screen the bank statement i received to fix it so i can play on ignition. i wouldnt be thinking so much of moving if i liked the place im staying in much better. however i do feel its much better than all the siegel suite and budget suites options in vegas.

so i got in a cab and instead of going straight home, i went to walmart. i needed some milk and other food for the fridge anyway, and needed earwax medicine, and an ear syringe. for maybe then i wouldnt need to put the volume close to 100% to easily hear trumps speeches. but i thought maybe a new laptop would fix these issues, and of course, theres the missing a key which dont work (unless of course i use the online keyboard at all times) which i got in the habit of. once u use the free internet where im living, u then no longer get the option to show up for the faster service for a small fee. i dont think it really improves anything anyway.

But when i came home with a new $416 laptop ($37 of which went to state sales tax) (why my roll is now only $13,500) i tried it and couldnt get it to load at first either, and i wasnt too happy. but after quite a long pause with it frozen and buffering, the game loaded and once it loaded, it stayed up for the next 24 hours. im not sure what it would do if i turned my laptop off. so i got to play multiple games and advance about 4 more levels. i tried the faster internet too, for the one day price instead of the 1 month price which is much less overall. i just wanted to see if it made a difference, but it dont seem too.

the question is i got 15 days to decide, do i keep it or return it for a refund? and if i keep it, what do i do with the old one? how would i sell it, and first make sure my passwords arent discovered? i've saved the boxes and receipts in case. and i might spend lots of money for better housing too. i think i deserve a much higher standard of living than im getting if i really can make over $3000 per month in the long run here. it might even be over $4000. theres tons of places to live i've never tested, but im going to test the internet very thouroughly everywhere before i move in from now on. because its so easy to just renew the room instead of move out everytime the rents due to simply due to laziness over moving.

this is the news i spoke of on twitter i dont know if its good or bad i bought this. id rather spend my money doing things which make my life more pleasent than chores like dentistry. i spent $15 more on another 3 books the other day too.

im hoping to get the $1000 on oct 18, then id like to win enough in the freeroll nov 6 to be over $15k or $16k. if i get first and its not chopped, theres a slight chance to be over 20k

  1. It's easy to sell an old laptop. These are all reliable places to work with:

    2. Keep the new laptop as I'm sure the old one is close to 8 years old. I'm wondering how thick is it? I bet it is close to 3/4 of an inch thick. We know you won't invest in your health and at least you have this in your possession so keep it.Look back as I believe it was only a few years ago you were down to $1000 dollars when you left "dem good ol machines" at the Gold Strike in Jean.

  3. So nuclear war if Trump DOESN'T get elected? If you really thought that was a likely possibility, are you registering to vote? Or are you a taker, not paying your fair share of taxes and not participating in our wonderful democracy you claim to care about?
Fact is, your political and world views are skewed, illogical and ignorant.

    1. im not allowed to register to vote without proof of citizenship. without waiting months and paying $600 for the ins form, i cant prove it. im no longer willing to lie about where i was born to register without questions like i did when i last voted in i think 1996 or 2000. its not my fault my mother, and the state dept lost the paperwork which proved my citizenship (conseular report of birth abroad) making me file the much more expensive route.

  5. tonight, i checked into my free room in samstown for 2 nights. i took the old laptop with me instead of the new one, because i wanted to verify the old one would still work for logging in from the hotel, and also connect to games on facebook. the reason for this is i need back the $416, thats 3-4% of my roll and way too much for me to be spending on anything right now. well i wasted lots of time on the phone with IT support, plus the front desk supervisor, who came to my room to check on it, and she couldnt get it up either. so i wasnt too happy when i gave up and went to the poker room. i started off well, winning close to $60, then lost steadily til i was out the whole $308 i had when i first got my cab. i couldnt even make it til midnite, when i could get my $115 in promo chips. so i left the game broke, went to take $500 out of my account behind the cage, broke down $100 for change for the cab, then went round trip home and back to get the NEW laptop. (since i couldnt get online at all in the room). but as soon as i entered the room, i found myself online on the old one, which wouldnt work at all earlier. maybe shutting it off for hours helped? rebooting it a few times wouldnt help. i still could use a new laptop but i was briefly at $14,200 last week and im now at $13,200. how can i afford it? so since its working im not even using the new one yet tonight. im logged into candy crush too.

  6. You need to destroy your hard drive from your old laptop to prevent identity theft. Buy a can of Charcoal lighter fluid and wet it down good in the parking lot and burn it to the ground. After the plastic mess cools down pick out the metal case that holds the disk drive and then smash that with a big rock. Last step is to fill an empty two liter pop bottle with a strong salt water solution (one cup of salt) and put what's left of the hard drive into the salt water solution. Let that ferment in the bottom of the closet of your room for at least one week. Better safe than sorry!

    1. doesnt this sound like something Hillary Clinton would do?

      Delete
    2. It does. However, Lester left out the crucial last step: provide the now wet and salty hard drive to Donald Trump; allow Donald to insert tic-tacs into the hard drive and grope it right in the "-----".

That will ensure the hard drive is defeated in November.

It has now been said. The secretary shall now read it into the minutes and it shall be maintained in the archives for no less than 7 years.

p.s. - is there an important distinction between those two games? And by "distinction", I don't mean in game play, but rather in the ability to distract you from the task at hand, poker? Is playing bejeweled mean you're paying MORE attention to the game when you're not in a hand? Regardless of which stupid game you're playing, stop. Start paying attention to the game play when you're not involved in a hand. It will aid you in the long run.

  7. So, to recap, you can spend $450 on a laptop to play Candy Crush, but you cannot spend it on a chore like your jacked up teeth. Let me be the first to point out that this is a sound way to save money, since you will not have to spend money in a year or so when you are a corpse from all of your untreated maladies.

  9. The implication of "LOWER" being that the work is so noble that the statement is obviously absurd and rhetorical (which you felt the need to make clear, while actually achieving the opposite, with your 'don't u agree?') Yea, and so the LORD said on to TBC, this problem is so reprehensible that society should subsidize our altruistic passing around of clay so that those who devote their life to this selfless cause have the higher standard of living vis-a-vis the rest of the leeches with "jobs" who probably can't even count cards, u know.

I bet if you were black Obama would give you $20,000 in cash, award you a bankroll and demand casinos give you only positive yielding good machines. Disgraceful, how society treats the industrious white man these days.

    1. no, because they have money for high stakes, plus they get staked without needing to ever risk their own money in tourneys. its the $1-2/3 grinders struggling to get their $30k per yr for whom its not so easy. i thought shreveport would be easy, but ive won less than $1000 so far for oct, with $8 per hour in oct. the only real way winnings easy is to constantly be playing with different people who dont know me.

  11. The AVERAGE yearly income for US individual is like $54,000 per year

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. but of course, most people receive much less in income per yr. it just takes a few wealthy people with several million per yr, and the millions with $10-20k per yr to show this. dont forget the 47% percent of americans 100% dependent on govt support mitt romney told us about.

      Delete
    2. Ahh, good point, sort of, nice try, but to correct for averages being inaccurate ideas of what most people might make in income per year for example, there is a statistical number called 'median'. This means 50% of people are above the number and 50% below the number. It corrects for errors in high or low incomes which might skew the average up or down. Just so you know, the 2015 MEDIAN US household income is $55,775 so therefore does not matter about high earning individuals.

      Delete
    3. WEC, are you mixing the average individual income with median household income? Looks a bit strange with the median higher than the average.

    4. Trying to understand what Tony WANTS. You get the standard of living you work for and it's important that you work smart as well as hard. Do poker players deserve a decent standard of living? Didn't living with Vince or Ray give you a decent standard of SAFETY and the feeling of friendship? Couldn't you have built a safety net of a higher bankroll from being in a stable place?

    5. The median individual income is closer to $30k. However, I agree with Tony's statement, as written.

I agree - professional poker players don't deserve a lower standard of living than the rest of the population, as Tony's intro stated.

However, I assume Tony intended this to be read as "I deserve an income equal or greater than the average US citizen. And this I do not support.

      s.i.

p.s. - Taken from wikipedia, so apply salt as needed: Personal income is an individual's total earnings from wages, investment interest, and other sources. The US Census Bureau reported a median personal income of $30,240 for all workers over age 15 with income, and a mean personal income of $44,510 based on the Current Population Survey for 2015.[2] Inflation-adjusted ("real") per-capita disposable personal income rose steadily in the U.S. from 1945 to 2008, but has since remained generally level.[3][4]

      Unhappy, Unhappy
      You have no complaint
You are what your are and you ain't what you ain't
So listen up Buster, and listen up good
Stop wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood

Stop spending so much time worrying and complaining about stuff you can't change. You chose not to pay your bills so you have crappy credit. You chose not to file income taxes so you have no earnings history. Landlords want extra deposits because you have crappy credit and no income history. You can't undo your choices and it what it is.

Did you ever stop and think that the promo you are chasing has attracted every nit in the area who is just sitting there getting their hours in and waiting for aces?

    7. Ah, yes, I do see my own error in multi-tasking and not noticing I was interchanging 'household' income from purely individual income. I googled median individual US income and it came up household. From further research, I see the UD for some reason does not specifically determine 'median individual income' numbers and uses household numbers.

Interesting to see what the exact median income for an individual would be in the US since the Govt itself doesn't track it

anyone bothered by reports this morning Russia just ordered all out of the country residents working for the govt who have dependents in school abroad they need to return to Russia immediately? seems suspicious, especially since theyre threatening to shoot down US planes over syria. i fear a first strike is about to come and i dont feel shreveport is safe. too many air force bases. waiting for my $1000 so i can go. watching live rally in ocala FL, where 30,000 plus people outside standing waiting to see Trump speak. Russia wont attack us unless they fear Hillary is about to win.

Tony, this has got to be the best excuse you have ever come up with to run away yet again. No matter where you go in the USA you will be near a military base. The USA is one giant military base.

Seriously, you need to head north, use that $1000 to bribe a border guard, slip across the Canadian border and rejoin the Tribe. With the choices of Clinton or Trump, the USA is well and truly fucked. If its not Clinton lying her way to the Ovarian Office, it is Trump grabbing handfuls of pussy.

  13. Professional poker players don't deserve anything. If you want something you have to take it or earn it. I think Tony is right in that these lower games are hard to beat because there aren't as many bad players anymore. So you need to work on your game. The biggest leaks I see in small ball no limit is too many players unwilling to pull the trigger or call off mid hand. Most players are optimal on the river, flop and pre flop in my opinion. To survive you need to buy in deep and exploit weakness throughout the hand.
Tony: Why don't you take 2 weeks off from all gambling. You pay for your room and read books and write down poker strategies. You might find a new perspective when you return.
