Must find new housing soon

i've pretty much forgotten about this blog. used to be people would remind me to post when ive not been online in a while, but no, not this time. Theres not so much to talk about when im not on a road trip either. Good news is im doing what i should be doing (as far as regaining the money i lost since leaving Detroit). for the first night in ages, im finally over $17,000 once more. i only wish more of it wouldve came from poker, and not BJ.

that being said, im out of the hole for June now, up a little more than $1000 in poker for June. cash that is, ive never tracked tourney wins or losses. im not going to play no more either, for if i do i should probably track them too.

another reason to not play them is if they took 10 hours or more to finish (if u get to the final table). u would need to average 10x your hourly rate in winnings to make it preferable to just playing cash those 10 hours. This is why no serious poker players make thier living by playing tourneys.

the big problem is im losing my housing this Friday. u see, Vinces ex girlfriend from NJ who dealt in the Trop will be moving in with him, arriving on a plane fri night. and he couldnt convince her to let me live there too. so ill either need to leave town or find other accomodations. ive got over $300 in comps in the nugget to carry me for 4 days, and i might just move out early on tues and maybe fly out of here. there's nothing cheap in vegas thats safe, and i dont wish to spend close to $1300 and commit to 60 days for extended stay america.

i need stable housing so i can get ID in whichever state i wish instead of just louisiana and a passport too, for when 2018 comes ill no longer be allowed to fly. plus i need a long term MD too. u see, to order the documents for the big fee from the govt, i wont be doing no traveling til the documents would arrive, or id be out the fee for nothing.

never seen the nugget so busy except during the WSOP. theres like all 13 tables full with lists most of the time in here now, except for the slow part of the early mornings. but no PLO today or yesterday. for like 3 days, it went everyday.

  1. That Phil Hellmuth. Obviously not a serious player, hence doesn't make money in tournaments. Thanks for the insight

  3. Hi Tony. I played 1/2nl with you at the Golden Nugget about 5 days ago. (you flopped a set and rivered a boat on me) I had not seen you in a couple years, but I wanted to tell you this... You really handled yourself better than the last times I've seen you. You weren't annoying, and you were pleasant at the table. I'm glad to see that you've improved as a person. I just wanted you to know that. Good luck. -Blurred

  4. Tony, why don't you go to Albuquerque like we emailed about the other day? If you have to move out of Vince's apartment by Friday, it is a perfect opportunity for you to go there for a week or so, do what you want to do, and return to Las Vegas By July 11 if you want.

Also before you go why don't you try and set up some cheap accommodation for a couple of weeks at El Cortez for when you return to Las Vegas, that is if you do decide to return. If you decide not to return in July, you should be able to just email them and cancel it with no penalty. Sometimes a little bit of forward planning can save you a lot of trouble down the track.

I like blurred's comment about the way you have been handling yourself at the tables. Your demeanor and behavior have been serious problems for you in the past, so if someone like blurred who has been critical of you in the past, is saying you have improved, that is great.

I've told you what my plans are for after I arrive on July 11. What ever you decide to do is up to you, but some of your friends will be in town for a couple of weeks from that date. If you can meet up with us that would be good, if you decide otherwise, that is your choice. Nice to see you building that roll back up there.

Some of us did mention about you getting other ID and a passport, just after you last renewed your Louisiana ID. We said then you should start dong something about it. It will save you a lot of stress later on. Don't see why you cannot use your Mom's address for a permanent address for your government papers, even if you are not there. I'm sure she would forward them on to you wherever you are. Take care.

  5. Tony, you do not need ID to take a commercial flight. It's actually the law. They will hassle you endlessly and maybe find some other reason not to let you, but I know people who have done it successfully.

  6. Is there a story as to why Vince's girlfriend wants you evicted? Seems a little harsh since things have been going well for you since your return to LV

    1. she is 57 and Vinces condo only has 1 spare bedroom besides the one Vince uses. she just wants her space. Vince did say him and her might go on a road trip up to montana for 2-3 weeks, in which case he will offer me the house when shes gone with him but this wont be for a while.

    2. Agree. It's shocking that a grown woman in an adult relationship would not want a homeless degenerate living with her in a small condo.

  7. it bugs me how dumb most professional wsop players are, for example if someone is willing to throw in $4 in dead money UTG for a straddle (and u are the button instead of the BB) why would u ever discourage it, since it benefits u so much when ur the button? ive never in my life understood why so many are so mentally retarted as to insist he take his $4 back so he can button straddle. very seldom do i see a guy pick his $4 on the button back up, and let him go ahead and UTG straddle.

for some reason this really bugs me just as much as all the racist black guys thinking white women are superior to black women. i just dont see how these players can be so dumb on how to generate action, yet have more $$$ than me.

    1. Do you find there are a lot of "professional WSOP players" playing a game with a $4 straddle?

    2. of course. most of the players here are for the wsop, and most are professional tourney players, many from online or from europe. most of them arent known either except to those who follow tournies.

  8. took 4 free nites in the Nugget with my $300 in comps for $278 before i get out of town, or find housing.i dont see why they gave me a free upgrade to a much nicer room, with robes in the room in the tower by the poker room, with a private floor and free fruit in the hallway including strawberries, but ill take it. the tightest old stud player from the early 90s who was always broke as me just called $53 preflop with 55 to suck out on my aa so now im up $36 instead of over $200

  9. Most people in the world are happy with 3 meals and daily needs like fresh water. Only the upper 1 percent can fly to Vegas all the time and have those immenities. Just be patient those things will, come to you in due time.

  10. 10x your buy in amount, not 10 times your hourly. Tournaments are relative in this way bruh

    1. not sure which statement ur referring to

    2. Tony said if he spends 10 hours in a tourney he needs to win 10x his cash game hourly to make it worthwhile. Pretty valid perspective.

A better way to look at it though, is his estimated tourny ROI, divided by avg. time spent per tourney, multiplied by avg. buy in.

His statement that NO serious poker player plays tournament for a living is pretty silly, because there are people who do that. However, that doesn't mean they can't play cash games as well to reduce the BR variance, as well as down time between tournaments.

winning is much simpler when u only need to go upstairs from the poker room, and not have a long commute home.

Congratulations Tony, after 30 years of searching, you have finally stumbled on the formula for instant success. Now that you have to move out of Vince's home, you should immediately set up an accommodation deal with the Nugget to move long term into one of their rooms. Think of the benefits, no more Uber or taxis. No more worries about getting robbed. You have a bank just around the corner, and a MacDonalds right next door. Damn my man, you are in Utopia.

I do remember that you had a similar set up with Binions and the 4 Queens a few years ago until you upset the staff and security at Binions with your behaviour. I hope you don't screw it up again. Mind you, if the Nugget is a bit too expensive for you, there is always El Cortez, a safe 5 minute walk away. 50K, here you come again. Good luck with your future success. Stay away from the slots.

    1. There has to be something special about the Golden Nugget poker room and our Hero who has had very little drama there compared to other poker rooms in Las Vegas. The one time I treated myself to the GN the bargain rooms were in the farthest tower but even that walk across the entire property was OK. To be in the tower nearest the poker room would be a super sweet long-term deal for Tony! Not sure if the 4 hours of play for a $10 food comp is still valid but that gets you some chicken strips and fries at one of the GN snack bars.

    2. u found my message on RTP about the guy who knew u playing my table yesterday? these rooms normally well over $150 per night plus more on weekends, once i leave friday, this deal will never exist no more. its $2 hour, no more other type of food comps. the chicken strips is $8 plus $6 more for fries, price went up

    3. $6.00 for french fries? That seems out of line with the $8.00 chicken strips. I think you should skip the fries, Tony. +EV move.
