to begin with, i never wanted to visit Las Vegas. but i knew i had to get out of Cincinnati after a huge loss of $3600 in one day between video triple spin poker and live blackjack especially since it was the second time id done that in cincinnati and Ray had already returned to Toledo.
with my roll already down to 36k of the 45k i had in florida before i started screwing up the roll by playing blackjack, there was no reason to be in Ohio any longer, so i went to the airport in the Uber, planning to book the 6 pm flight to reno. by the time i arrived, it was too late to book it so i took the vegas plane that left a little after 7. it made a stop in minneapolis and i almost didnt make it to vegas, because the hydraulic water pump needed to be fixed to fly and we ended up on a different plane 2 hours later and got to vegas a bit late.
Unlike its been reported, getting Uber is quite easy here. but its higher priced. i guess the surge got a few more drivers out since the governor changed it to allow surges. but i used a cab that first nite because i was unsure if i could get Uber and i was in a hurry to check in to the 3 nights i had at the D.
and that night, i lost $2165 playing live blackjack. and couldnt get more money to double my bets again, or i might have lost over $5000 that night and still not be over 30k. i did a shit ton of vultureable machines on the second floor of circa, but of course nothing of value left on them, too many hustlers in vegas. and circa has decent VBJ paying 3-2 with liberal rules as to what u can double down with, but its not giving any points. and neither are most vbj machines in vegas.
the VBJ in the Oyo (theres 2 of them) one of them and only one is 3-2 but it also has liberal rules and even allows surrender also. but it too gives no points. a lot of casinos in vegas now limit the bets to $100 max, but not all.
southpoint has an extremely fast 3-2 vbj machine mixed in with other games, on a machine table gaming wizard. ive not yet been there, but ive been told cosmo and the plaza and the mohegan sun in virgin casino (former hard rock vegas) also offer this machine. but i dont know if any of them give points and some dont pay 3-2 like southpoint did. its easy to play and much faster than the virtual machine but other than 3-2 the rules werent as good. and southpoint u cant even put a card in the machine, let alone get points.
the poker room manager on graveyard at southpoint said the poker room rate is available on the weekends, but i still think it might be sold out. and even $99 plus resort fee and tax is still high, even if its available. that would end up being $150 or so a night. Vince and i played 4-8 hilo there one night (rarely runs there) and i lost while he won.
vince and i also played the $4-8 mix game at sahara along with alysia chang, but they have too much 2-7 different versions in it. that being said, i still won the first time i played it. the second time on a different day, i did not.
i did have a great time with out of position and vlogger P-man in the $50 min buyin $1-1 no cap max buyin on tuesday at 8. we worked hard and played shorthanded to get it going until some more people came in as a group of 3 and got the game running. it was full when i quit it earlier than id planned due to being tired and hungry and giving back half my profits.
im still down about $400 of what i came to vegas with, mostly all of it on expenses. i got lucky to recover over $500 on video blackjack, including a lot of wins on 6-5 vbj to see if theyd send me some offers. and of course ive won in every single session of PLO in the new resorts world casino, although i lost in their $1-3 NL today.
i lost in the NL because i got slowrolled by a guy who said my comments about how he played earlier was rude, but i never meant it that way. and when he slowrolled me he said he did it intentionally to be rude and a dick. i wonder if he knows of the Joliet incident? and before that, id even protected his coffee that was going to be thrown out by the waitress.
i had AA and i seen he was raising his straddle out of turn, (they do the straddle the correct way like they do in Reno instead of the backwards way detroit and florida do it). it skips over the button, the blinds act, and then the button is last. so i only limped the $6 with AA, he raised last to act on the straddle the $21 i knew he was making it, and i shoved the AA. he called me with 66.
board comes up something like QT476 and he rivered a set. but first he had the dealer count out my chips asking how much is it, and when the dealer told him $92 once he finished counting it, he then turned over 666 and told me to get more money ready.
it took a LONG time today to start a PLO game and i left before it started and went out to play 6-5 VBJ. luckily i didnt lose, and eventually received the text it was going, but it only lasted about 90 minutes. good news is i turned my $200 into well over $500 so it wasnt too bad it broke.
my 3 wins in PLO in resorts world are $170, $461, and $350 plus (forgot amount). no plo losses at all on the entire trip.
i must say i will give this room a good review others arent for some reasons online. it might not have enough business as id hoped to get the PLO going all the time and not be starting til a lot later in the day than id hoped, but it does have deeper buyin structures than other rooms and the cocktail service is almost instant in the poker room. not so much in the main casino. also there a lot of massage girls standing around if u are earning at least $120 an hour at your job so u can afford the $2 a minute
but its difficult to understand where the uber pick up is, i followed the valets instructions to walk down the road around the corner, and somehow ended up on industrial road, never seeing an uber pickup spot. so i walked across the street to sapphire and got it there.
i dont like the way so many of the Uber pickup spots are in the parking garage in other casinos, makes it scary late at night, so i went and used a cab a few more times, and that didnt work out so well. got overcharged and an angry driver i paid him only $15 on a $14.54 fare that was overpriced in itself
and Vince let me stay at his house last weekend because nothing is available on weekends without being way overpriced. no idea what ill do this weekend. his girlfriend sure wasnt happy with him.
when the PLO goes in resorts, its a very easy game to beat. $200-1000 buyin. and the room looks really nice, and the staff will be friendly and nice and want to try to start more things. they dont make u go to the cage for chips and u can hand them money and theyll go there for u. which is really nice. and being on poker atlas is far better than bravo since u can sign the list online or get a text the game is about to start up. more rooms should ditch bravo and use poker atlas, its a much better app. PLO was going all the time when it first opened. there is a bathroom nearby, sadly most of the stalls are always being used and u wait.
at least they wont let others MS straddle and they will let u do a bomb pot if u want, at least the dealers will. in omaha, its strictly UTG straddle. in holdem its button or UTG. and u can run it twice if u can get the other player to agree.
they might have to start giving out rooms like the Borgata does, which is a similar type of fancy place for the rich folks for accomodations. they need to bring in more people so people have more options to where to play PLO.
here is the link to Pmans u tube channel but i dont think he has any video of the game.
