well im disappointed at how fast the $28,800 high water mark i had in mid december is disappearing. $15,700 left a while earlier today, and tonights $320 win at poker in Las vegas brings it back to around $16,000 even after my next 3 nights hotel is paid. which of course i did online before i got to vegas. and i must say the flix bus for $29 isnt a bad bus. the wifi actually worked well, and there are outlets for charging a cell phone. i pictured a much worse experience, having never ridden it before.
Phoenix wasnt as good as the previous trip, and im sure the pressure of $80-90 per day hotel costs plus Uber fees had something to do with it. i thought it was just winter pricing, but i heard the baseball season had something to do with it. the only cheaper places are Phoenix or Tempe, and the only places close enough to the casino were in scottsdale instead. instead of making over $2500 in less than 2 weeks, then losing about $800 or so on the final day after a steady series of big wins, i lost over $800 twice in a 3 day period, with only 1 big win in between and a small win of $91 this morning right before i booked my bus ticket.
so in 1 week, 4 huge losses, 2 in Billings, and 2 in Phoenix where i went to get away from those losses. so im still in the hole for January, with a negative win rate. and what the hell is up with a standard deviation of $17,000? i dont know what this means, but before those 4 losses, it was only at $53.
i thought leaving deadwood would protect me from big losses because it would keep me from playing any blackjack. and yet i lost about 4000 counting expenses since leaving deadwood. but i didnt lose any money at blackjack, that much is true. maybe i wouldve had i got off the bus in Laughlin, but i didnt do it because there is a brand new highway to phoenix which doesnt go thru laughlin, instead it goes thru kingman, was surprised it went nowhere near laughlin. never seen this before. so i wouldnt have had this option anyway, but id already booked the room in vegas, so i wasnt planning to take advantage of this option had it existed.
and i worry about where ill stay, room prices are up a lot since mid and early december where its priced the lowest of the year. ill be moving hotels this weekend because the prices are going to be more. maybe ill fly to reno or detroit before lightning arrives on my birthday. those are the 2 lowest priced places i can think of where theres still decent poker.
its bad when your finances hold u back as far as to where u can play poker. but pretty much the entire country the cost of hotels and Ubers is going to be more than what u win at poker unless u have a roll of far over $40,000 and are in much bigger games. sure does shorten up the choices of where to play. and the great economy is causing hotel weekly prices to really go up a lot in the last few years. and vegas is one of the most unsafe cities in the entire US as far as violent crime and robberies and home invasions are. Trump needs to get busy building the wall.

Billings montana Gold dust casino trip report.
i decided i wanted to leave deadwood after id recovered to $21,200 from $16,900 after multiple winnings sessions of VBJ, a couple of $200-300 poker wins and hitting the saturday night drawing in the DMG for $1000 last saturday night. but i waited til id given back $1100 of it and thats when i said no more. im keeping the rest. plus id heard a lot about Billings MT for the PLO or PLO8 went 3 nights per week with holdem the rest of the time and sometimes in deadwood there would be no game at all. particularly on sundays or mondays.
so i was looking around on the rapid city facebook page for a driver to Billings when it wouldve been smarter to take the bus for a little over $100, but considering the $28 cab ride to the nearest station in spearfish and theres no actual station but it pulls up outside a convenence store, i was afraid of buying a ticket online, then finding the bus FULL with me being stuck in spearfish for nothing.
i sure do make tons of bad decisions and usually the most expensive decisions.
so i finally called the other person id rented from in Lead thru airbnb (not the lady who claimed i owed her money) but a different guy whod also offered to rent to me for $800 for the month of January in a shared unit. (my own room and lock of course) but the kitchen and bathrooms are shared. sometimes i would be the only tenant. and his girlfriend drives for Lyft and id rode with her before. well it turned out she couldnt do it but the other woman who was living at their place did it for $500, and thats more than it wouldve cost thru LYFT, so she made out pretty good doing it off the books, without lyft even getting a commission.
and on the way there she told me she was running for congress as a democrat and i told her how i felt about demon rats and we got into a discussion over the wall and she insisted it was unneccessary then we discussed areas we agreed as far as the people who came to the US as young people deserving citizenship when this is about the only life theyve known.
But she didnt care for Trump and didnt feel they should negotiate. and i dont even think she disagreed with sanctuary cities or sending back those who commit crimes. i dont think she believes how much voter fraud goes on either, she claimed they cant register to vote, though in some parts of cali over 112% of all adults are registered to vote, though about 20% of the state is illegal immigrants.
this is how u know for sure fraud exists.
when i got to billings i got checked into my hotel (that id booked first) at their extended stay america and im glad i didnt pay for it long term. for i lost $1000 that night in a game that was tight at first and then grew incredibly loose but i had to go, they force the game to close at 2am by city ordinance unlike Bozeman where that law doesnt apply. and i figured the next day maybe id do better in the $1-2 PLO8.
and i did do better that day, i went home about even, i think i was up $5. but i was irritated i had to wait for 3 hours or so to get a seat, and i resolved to not wait the next day but get there early when it would be $2-5 blinds instead of $1-2. still only a $100 buyin though up to no cap.
now montana has a funny law of $800 pot limit so theres no bluffing on the turn and river when the pots big enough to make bluffing worth it. had an effect on the game play.
and on that next day, i arrived about 11am, and the game didnt start til about 2-3pm so i got lied to on the time, and i was getting stuck so much id stopped tipping, so i felt like the employees who were friendly and told me about the $2 per hour rakeback (once u hit 50) might not like me no more. and i wasnt in a good mood due to not winning for so long and i lost over $800 that night too and finally left very pissed and told them exactly what i thought of their room and their customers. because one asshole was ridiculing me because he thought i badmouthed his play, and i felt he was an ass for raising preflop in omaha hilow with QTJ4 and then hitting when i had AA6K double suited and lost and i felt he did because he didnt respect me since i was the outsider and the only one and losing so much. the longer i sat and lost, the worst my mood grew til id finally had enough. he vocally rooted for no low when he knew i was drawing for low, and they seemed to all know each other and feel they were better than me and i was the sucker.
it was a gang of locals who play everyday thats for sure. most were bad but some were very tight and all were regulars. and i could see who the winners were. the young kid Brandon with the sunglasses and the old man John.
so i managed to make the last flight of the night into phoenix on allegiant and id preferred vegas but it wasnt that days plane.
and the first thing i did when landing at mesa airport was pay $40 to lyft to go to my hotel in scottsdale and sleep. and when i woke up today i went to the casino.
and sat in the $2-3 NL and went and lost $800 or $780. i got within $16 once of being even, and still lost because i was too stubborn to quit, with $10 two times a day in uber costs and $80 a night hotel costs hanging over my head. in november hotel prices were a little lower. like $60 a night. so i wanted a decent win. but i didnt go on tilt and move to the $3-5 $500-1500 buyin or the $20-40 omaha stud mix. or the $10-500 omaha high like i did the previous trip in november.
nor did i play any $3-35 vbj shuffle every hand. i might have if every seat hadnt been full. my 2 key losing hands were QQ vs AA and 56 suited when i flopped two pair and he rivers 2 bigger pair when the 8 hit and he called me down with J8.
so i left pissed and got the Uber to my hotel to update the blog and sleep with no idea what ill do once i wake up (stay or go or switch rooms, bus plane, uber, or ?)
i managed to steal blinds and limps about 6 times though and each time showed a bluff like K6 offsuit, etc. i could see who raised way too often to have legit hands so i stole from them. once on the turn with 22 after a small flop raise then a big bet into 4 overcards. but it didnt help.
i still think however if u stole every pot that was possible to steal how that could add $50 or more to someones hourly

what happened immediately after i lost the $2800 a few nights ago
at the time of course i was quite pissed off. Why shouldnt i have been, id just dropped all the way to $16900 and for all i knew i mightve not had enough discipline or bad luck to drop it down to where it it was the time Koala got me a ride into denver free of charge. so of course i went home and wrote a blog and the only 2 people who ever got to read that blog was Ray and Lightning. no one else will ever see it. it discussed a few different people pretty much all casino employees who i would prefer they not see it or ever know what i said about them. im not so mad now that ive won on VBJ and poker every time since, and now have a roll of $19,800.
the other thing i did that night was move out of where i was staying to use my 2 free nights at the DMG because i was hoping id still get the $250 refund for moving out on the 15th, (only got $200 and she told me she wasnt going to rent to me anymore) and i thought id be booking a flight within the next 2 days. but of course the only cheap flights are the allegiant ones to vegas and phoenix, neither are really where i want to go. and i also was looking for a ride into Billings on the rapid city Lyft drivers facebook page. but the price seemed kind of high, even the greyhound bus price is quite steep for only a 6 hour trip. its about the distance as vegas is to phoenix, for about 3 or 4 times as much in price since its not a main well traveled route with other options for the people who travel. lack of competition and monopoly pricing.
and of course i lied in the blog too, i didnt really tell the landlady what i said in the blog lightning read that i told her. i trust him to not repeat it.
funny thing is i think maybe this lady has it in for me because im pretty positive shes a big time liberal and isnt a fan of trump and she probably knows that i am. she claims when i moved out i owe her for a damaged sheet and was disappointed i didnt reply to her texts wanting me to make this right. had it been thru airbnb she couldve charged my debit card thru them, but it was off the books. and airbnb will get u in trouble for this too. i wonder what her legal rights are? plus she says i still owe her the $5 for laundry soap i offered to pay her, and the $10 for cleaning. but she only gave me $200 instead of $250 as agreed so i dont feel i owe it.
the damaged bedsheet is simply me jacking off in the bed and i guess it must of stained the sheet, but no ones ever told me this before no matter where i lived. but she claims it cannot be cleaned and is sticky and wont be fixable. i assume that is it anyway, cant imagine it being anything else. she never told me this on airbnb last summer.
still should leave town especially when i ruined my place to stay for the 2nd half of the month just to get $200 back to leave town immediately. it cost me $300 today to rent a room for a week, to avoid paying higher prices on weekends. but now i feel like ill win everytime i play VBJ, since ive recovered about $3000 since the loss, including poker wins too.
as bad as the poker is here in deadwood i am still up $2300 for the month of January, at the rate of $25 per hour for 95 hours of play, which is pretty good considering about 2 days a week theres no games. but i havent lost in quite a long time now. which shows u how well off id be had it not been for all those vbj losses earlier. im still quite a bit below the 22,300 i came to deadwood with.
if i book a flight for Jan 24th its showing a flight to toledo for $388 but i need to do it before the price goes up. my room will end on the morning of the 25th. and of course this is nonrefundable since its thru booking.com to get the price reduced by $50 or 100 less.
and before i booked it and checked in this afternoon, i tested the wifi in the hotel lobby so i wouldnt be stuck with shitty wifi that didnt work like happened twice in this town before and its working fine, both in the lobby and in my room. so thats good.
before i booked the room i was waiting to see if i had a ride to Billings but i wasnt hearing back from anyone except someone who couldve after 5pm, but didnt give a price, and the lady who gave me a better price yesterday her comments had disappeared and stopped answering, i think she must of realized she quoted me about $100 too little.
and snow is starting up and especially much worse far east of here. but a few flights today were delayed and one got cancelled, even though most went out but just delayed, so i worried if i booked the evening flight to phoenix dirt cheap it might get canceled and that allegiant would refund a voucher instead of cash and id pay 100 taxi into deadwood airport for nothing, so i didnt feel like risking it. maybe i shouldnt been so paranoid. or maybe i just should make a plan and book a flight the day before and fly to where id rather be wish reno had flights available.
but the $50 min buy PLO in billings still interests me. if that lady dont ruin me from ever renting on airbnb again, theres decent deals in billings. i guarantee u no one else will be nearly as picky and claim i damaged a sheet. she was going to make me buy her a new sink too, if i couldnt cleaned it. at first we thought it couldnt be. all that happened was i bought the 6 pack of frozen steaks and after eating it, dumped the grease out before throwing it into the trash. its a small bathroom sink in the basement, no kitchen sink.

hey wheres my money
so im sitting at a poker table, and the loose action guy is named Mickey. and he makes it $60 preflop and im last to act with QQ and i was just in the process of rebuying $400 after losing a few pots and i toss the dealer the $400 and say IM ALL IN. in my dream, the dealer totally ignores me and pushes him the pot, and starts giving me money for the next hand. and everyone at the table wont shut up because theyre drunk. and i seen tons of employees behind the game, all sitting at one big table so i ask for a floorman and again im totally ignored. and the floormen keep right on talking into some camera. finally some older black lady goes to take my complaint, whose also an employee, her and some security guy, and she tells me why am i complaining about the casino, do i want to get it shut down? says dont u know the governor is at the table watching. and the security guy cannot find a piece of paper big enough for me to write down whatever im upset about, neither of them could understand. so i decided to just write down the complaint here, because the blog badly needed updating anymore and its so boring here theres nothing to discuss.
too much VBJ and not enough poker, although im finally winning, i even won $200 in saloon 10 last night. first time they ever played $2-20 in there instead of just $2-10. usually the 2nd table is $2-6 when it opens but today they made it $2-20. hope this will be done more often now, will ask Marty his plans when i see him.
so for the month of January im up over 1500 from poker now but im still at only $18,900 of the $22,300 i came with late december. this isnt as bad as the $17,900 i had a few days ago but still its not good at all, when u consider i had $28,800 in vegas right before all the big losses and the trip to winstar. and now im even scared to play VBJ because no matter what i do or how little i bet, i expect a big loss. often i am ready to quit and cant because for the first time in hours theyres a good count. and of course thats when theres always heavy losses because otherwise u would bet small.
nice of Corey to take me to walmart and back for groceries without all this frozen food i mightve left town by now. sure wasnt spending $56 on a cab to go 12 miles round trip. im sure my landlord still wonders what my plans are. im so low i hate to spend money even to leave though its probably a good idea.

Life in Deadwood SD in the winter season
i should take a picture of the deer across the street, on a steep hill and walking around. theyre thick with them here, but thank God, ive avoided coming into contact with a mountain lion, i understand its been quite a while since they injured someone around here. Only injure the deer.
Let me make one thing clear, though ive got a decent place to rent for a month, im not happy with my decision to come here. Or for any decisions ive made after getting my roll to $28,800. the poker here sucks and tonight i never bothered to see if there was a game at cadillac Jacks because i was stuck too much to play worth a shit. I cant leave until i get my debit card, which should be today. i did get Vinces shoes he bought me for christmas which are good winter shoes but they keep coming untied because im not used to the kind u tie and the knot wont ever stay tied.
i checked with the lady at the players club today to find out exactly how much their records show ive lost on the vbj at the DMG since coming to deadwood, and their records showed a loss of over $3600 which includes todays loss. the reason im not down more than $1700 since coming to deadwood is because ive won on the VBJ multiple times in the Bullock. i even won today on it though i dropped over $425 overall. and to be fair most of the $1700 i am down since coming to deadwood wasnt lost on VBJ, though ive gotten killed on the VBJ in the DMG. it went for hotel rooms for the first few nights, housing since, and food and cabs. plus the $800 i blew one day on the 3 card poker machine which i never touched since. and ive won only about $150 from poker this month so far. (shows u how much the place sucks.) one win of over $500 and many losses. and 2 small wins. so with all of that i had to have won several thousand on the other VBJ in the Bullock. otherwise id have much much less than i do. it doesnt take a card so theres no records.
So why do i even bother to play the VBJ in the DMG? well because i did win todays $75 hot seat, and i want to get my much better mailers back which gave me $600 a month in free play. and sooner or later id hit one of them $1000 drawings.
and i dont play it properly most of my losses were betting too high on the beginning of the new shoe when i was stuck. today i was up over $500 and was about to leave when i suddenly started losing very big. if it wasnt for the ocean magic machine id lost $100 more. ive gotten about $200 from ocean magic in the past week.
Plus its annoying when riding home in a cab, which costs me $7 twice a day ($420 a month, could be more at times when i take extra trips) some drunk girl and her 2 male employee friends who work at a casino bitch at me for not tipping the cab driver. this entire month ive won only $170 at poker, and nothing at blackjack and yet ive tipped out well over $70 of that $170 this month first 6 days to dealers and waitresses. maybe she only bitched because i tip the waitresses far less where she works than at cadillac jack, where the staff is much friendlier. they dont give out bottled water like cadillac and DMG does and i hate tap water and especially hate it if they add ice. not only do they not give it out, they dont sell it either. only tap water. so i give out the $1 every 2-3 times instead of every time. the problem is theres way too many jobs that use tips nowdays and if u arent getting tips yourself u cant be giving them out to everyone. all those who brag about the tips they give out, they would quit tipping if they stopped working for tips themselves because they could no longer afford it. irrating to see so many people so young no clue about what a struggle life really is with such good jobs where they make good money with tips not understanding how little the rest of us really get. yeah i made 48k in poker last year. but if i spent the whole year in deadwood, i doubt id make 20k. but the cost of living is so low here, lots of people do live here on 20k a year. salaries are less too just like prices.
Let me make one thing clear, though ive got a decent place to rent for a month, im not happy with my decision to come here. Or for any decisions ive made after getting my roll to $28,800. the poker here sucks and tonight i never bothered to see if there was a game at cadillac Jacks because i was stuck too much to play worth a shit. I cant leave until i get my debit card, which should be today. i did get Vinces shoes he bought me for christmas which are good winter shoes but they keep coming untied because im not used to the kind u tie and the knot wont ever stay tied.
i checked with the lady at the players club today to find out exactly how much their records show ive lost on the vbj at the DMG since coming to deadwood, and their records showed a loss of over $3600 which includes todays loss. the reason im not down more than $1700 since coming to deadwood is because ive won on the VBJ multiple times in the Bullock. i even won today on it though i dropped over $425 overall. and to be fair most of the $1700 i am down since coming to deadwood wasnt lost on VBJ, though ive gotten killed on the VBJ in the DMG. it went for hotel rooms for the first few nights, housing since, and food and cabs. plus the $800 i blew one day on the 3 card poker machine which i never touched since. and ive won only about $150 from poker this month so far. (shows u how much the place sucks.) one win of over $500 and many losses. and 2 small wins. so with all of that i had to have won several thousand on the other VBJ in the Bullock. otherwise id have much much less than i do. it doesnt take a card so theres no records.

one months rent is paid up and ive got a small basement apartment in Lead to live at
well im finally officially into a place for a month, at the price of only $600. lowest cost of housing ive had in ages. but since im down to only $20,600 and there isnt much poker action here, and because ive had some losses on the VBJ but not too much, seeing over $1000 of what i came here with ive spent on housing including hotel stays, cabs, phone, food, etc and remember i only came here from winstar with $22,300. and i once had that up as high as $24,600 before i took some losses. overall i dont think ive lost more than $1000 or probably about $750 gambling. and if u consider i lost about $800 of that on the 3 card poker machine in the Hickok, im around even on the VBJ. which if u stop to think and do the math, thats really about what it should be over the long run.
about 99.4 on the VBJ and the other point 6 percent made up by counting the cards. your wins are mostly the mailers which if u played very heavily would be $600 in free play per month and 4 nights. and of course any drawings u hit, which id need a lot more tickets than the 19 i eventually earned. but some winners get $1000 more than once a month as many tickets as they have for saturdays as much as they play.
my biggest worry is a big loss and i dont really want to go below $20,000 so ill try to play as much poker as possible, no matter how shitty is might be and try to lower my bets when playing VBJ.
there were some good promotions over NYE weekend and it was sure busy here in town. $50 drawings every 15 minutes and $50 splash pots every 15 minutes and $100 high hand every hour. of course that probably used up most of the promotional money for the rest of the month, but it might be why i won very small amounts both of those days. the people who hits tons of drawings for playing all month and tons of high hands did much better. i only got 1 drawing, and a couple splash pots, but twice lost way bigger than normal due to it being a splash pot too. including this bad beat.
i had KK with one heart, and made it $53 to steal the splash pot. actually thought it might just lower how many came in. only 1 guy called a guy who normally plays tight and wins. he only had KQ offsuit. flop comes 24Q all in hearts ive got the K of hearts. he bets i shouldve raised instead i called. turn comes blank. he bets $50 again i called. river comes Q again he bets i call.
this guy or at least his friend steve reads the blog too.
