saloon number 10 BBJ gets hit

I've been spending way too much for a place to stay in deadwood since its summer and its definitely not cheap here like it is in the winter. i paid about $575 a week both the last 2 weeks because i was paying by the day at the silverado but this weekend, due to a gay pride festival its sold out. ive been having to see businesses all over town promote this bullshit all week and i dont know if they actually are run by liberals or do it out of fears of being ostracized if they dont. it will be over sunday night.

so i ended up taking a week on airbnb and got the price reduced to like $375 but now i have to commute by cab to Lead 3 miles away $8 every cab ride muliple times a day and i have to live in a strangers house but they seem to be nice people thank God. theres a lock on my door thank God, since i have lots of cash on hand and my passwords auto stored on my laptop. theres a reason i never live with strangers im afraid theyll invite people over im uncomfortable around, people i fear might steal, or get high, or have a pet snake they dont disclose on airbnb, etc. this is my only experience ever using airbnb. at least the wifi worked as great as advertised.

i found out ive got lots of drawing tickets at the DMG tonight due to playing the VBJ so much, so i guess instead of being able to play poker, ill need to be there between 630 and 11pm. at least with some wins lately im back over $13,300 from being as low as $10,900 the other day. some of the wins on video BJ and the rest from the poker winnings, mostly from the BBJ.

i wonder how much this adds to the worth of the video BJ in payback which is normally 99.53%? and im also wondering what the value of the hot seats adds to it, which ive hit twice in the last 3 weeks?

i had AT and only played it preflop because it was suited and the flop comes AA7 i bet, not thinking about the potential for the BBJ, and a guy whod just recently sat and isnt one of the usual regulars calls. he was the preflop raiser. turn comes 6 and i bet again he calls. the case ace comes on the river and i know ive got my end of the BBJ then so i check to make sure he doesnt fold. (i probably shouldnt have bet the flop or turn either). he checks his KK and we both turn over the BBJ.

as it turns out i get less than i thought i would because they give 50% to the loser, 40% to the table and only 10% to the winner, though I get a table share too. so i only ended up with $1335 and i thought it would be a bit higher. and only the winner had to show ID, none of the rest of us did which surprised me. he immediately left without tipping the dealer and i gave the dealer $75 and worried they wouldnt appreciate it because it was less than 10% but they seemed ok with it. he ended up getting about $300 or so with an additional $20-50 from the other players each on their $445 table share. and i heard him later mention he kept $200 and the rest to other dealers.

one of the regulars who wasnt in on the BBJ and showed up later was quite pissed the dealer got so little and the other guy gave nothing he wanted everyone to give 10% but hey i gave something and the dealers said they were happy for me as i was leaving. im so used to hearing others demand all the time to give 10% i just assume they wont appreciate it but even AKgal said $75 was plenty.

funny thing is earlier when stuck about $50-60 i wasnt even tipping the waitress who brings me water because i was so on tilt from her wearing a purple costume in support of the gay pride weekend. let me tell u thats something to be ashamed of, not to be proud of. are pedophiles proud of that too? i did tip after hitting the jackpot though for the rest of the night every drink i ordered.

the promotion at the deadwood mountain grand, which has now ended for good.

i dont know why, but it will not stop raining here for the past 2 days so everytime i walk up the street 2 blocks to the casino, i have to walk in the rain. drives me nuts.

i dont think i was the one who ruined the promotion i think it was the one local guy in town who sat for a while and max bet $100 during the thermometer promotion which made it effectively 5x points during one hour, 4 times a day, certain days of the week up to $35 max per session. or maybe Mickey, when he was here the previous weekend, ran up a shitload of points. Both me and Count everything from twitter and his friend Scooby (not his real name) never ever got a chance to run up any points during the promotion (i only got a chance to win 1 hot seat and do the thermometer promotion several times) but on the 10x for 2 hours late friday and late saturday nights neither of us ever got to do it, because they shut down the card readers before that time. so it certainly wasnt our play which killed the promotion.

and i was never betting anywhere near the max during the promotions, and since i dont need to use a card or do the promotions to have a big edge over the VBJ unlike all the other hustlers which DO need it to give points to beat it over the long run, i was just as likely to bet $100 even when no promotions were going on. im still up about $2000 on it. this is why im slightly over $13k instead of over $11k.

i talked with the slot tech extensively this morning when i went in when nobody is there about 7am to see if the card readers got turned back on they said should be up by Monday. and there was a sign saying no bonus rewards on this machine, and sure enough they dont take a card. so not only am i getting zero points or credit now for my play at all, i cant even prove to the casino what i won or lost so i have no way for them to believe me if i take a big loss now, its totally untracked, and though ive did good on it overall i did have a sizeable loss yesterday.

maybe they were just worried because i was up so much? and ill admit about $300 or so of what i made came from points and promotions, but i feel i deserved it because i so seldom win on VBJ machines, most of u will verify this. because no matter how big of edge i get in live BJ or machine BJ, it never ever helps me beat the game.

so when i talked with the tech he told me they looked into a way for it to stop giving multipliers and promotions without it having to shut off points altogether and to only give single points and no promotions. but they couldnt find a way to make the machines do this the way their system was set up. this was my advice to him before counteverything ever showed up in town. when they told me the first day they were watching the machine closely though they were temporaly giving points im the one who suggested to them they just shut off the 10x points but still give points, and that i was so glad to find a machine in town somewhere i could finally get points on for my heavy losses i told them i usually take at the other places in town, namely the Bullock hotel.

the slot tech agreed i wasnt abusing the system by betting big promotion or not or small, promotion or not and by playing at all times instead of just the promotion, but he said his hands were tied because he was just obeying what his bosses told him. the only ones who ever flat bet $100 on it were the one local guy who wasnt even in town this weekend, and Mickey. the local guy was the one who killed the promotion when the first dealers angels was put in the gold dust when it briefly gave points and because of him, they cut it off before i got there. remember when John mehaffey told me about the machine? i blocked him on twitter but i guess the block is pointless now i only blocked him so he wouldnt find out i was in deadwood, because i didnt want him destroying the promotion or to find out about it.

i also suggested to the slot tech this morning instead of giving a point for $2.50 ran thru the machine, to make it $20 ran thru it to get a point (if that would be possible) and he said he would mention that suggestion to his boss. he felt bad i wasnt getting no points since he seen me as a local who plays them heavy elsewhere with losses and no comps for it. i told him how making u put so much more thru would fix it so people couldnt gain from the promotion, but still not be left with NOTHING AT ALL.

and i cant leave town and get back to playing decent poker elsewhere (the options in this town have always sucked) until wednesday or so because ive got a coupon for $20 which i got from winning the tourney in saloon 10 saturday morning. so the coupon has to be used before 5pm to get the full $20 value, and i wont have a chance to do this until the stud game goes on tues afternoon. its usually only 3-5 people playing and sometimes dont go but i dont give a damn how few people play.

theres nothing at the table i hate more than nits who prefer to play a full table instead of shorthanded. when will other players ever realize nits arent good for the game? the proper way to play a full table is to fold 95% of your hands, and at least in games extremely shorthanded u get to see hands every once and a while and maybe have to fold only 80% of the hands. especially if its HU.

and ive finally been depositing money into my wells fargo since theres no BOA here. i havent used that account in months its been sitting with $1500 in it flat for a long time, just enough to keep it open without being charged a fee. ive never even used their debit card for a purchase. considering the fact u must leave $1500 in a bank account to not be charged fees, if my roll ever dropped under $3000 it would essentially be at zero since if i dug into the 3k id be charged fees so i wouldnt really be able to use it though i would of course. but id prefer to keep 1500 min in both accounts.

No longer in Colorado and im finally winning again when i play blackjack

i really do not understand why i had so much bad luck in colorado playing live BJ when i played it the exact same way i always did in the Golden gate in downtown vegas, which is the one place i always win at. but its about the only place i win at too.

one reason could be a lot of the places that were giving me about 90% penetration cut back to about 75% or a little less, but not all. and another reason could be once i got stuck too much i bet big sometimes on the first hand of the new shoe when i shouldve waited for a good plus count, but mentally i felt like it might be the ONLY hand the entire shoe without a big negative count. this is after multiple negative shoes in a row.

but most of the time, i had an edge when the big bets were being put in and it just wasnt working out. maybe with a roll of 18k and it only dropped to about 14k (the rest went on relocation expenses etc) and i did lose $1000 in the final weekend of playing Omaha too. all the previous 3 weekends i won over $1000 in the omaha. but maybe dropping about 25% of the roll before u recover is part of the standard variance in live BJ. my problem is ive never been good with handling any kind of negative variance at all and tend to panic when down small percentages of the roll.

also i think 3 spots of $100 is a bit too much, when the roll is under $20k thats over 2% on just one single bet of 1-3 spots against a single dealer hand.

but i wasnt going to give up without proving i could do well in the right type of BJ setup and game. so when i learned of a new video BJ machine with excellent rules and conditions recently installed I had to go and check it out, no matter how isolated a part of the country it was in, how much id have to pay to travel to get there, and what little else there would be to do, or where id live, etc. i have seen a few golden egypt ocean magic, alladin etc but of course nothing is ever on it.

i cant go into all the details in days and promotions and hours or u will be able to figure out which casino has the machine and which state im in, and i dont want any more drama or any problems and this opportunity wont last long anyway because i think once ive earned a shit ton of points they will fix it so the machine either will no longer give points or no longer give point multipliers at certain days and times. so far ive earned well over $1000 in profit mostly by counting the cards since its showing when it shuffles. some dealers angels dont show u when they shuffle, such as the one in coushatta and the ones in west memphis arkansas. this one does however. they have noticed im earning an awful lot of points.

but im not abusing the system because im playing all hours of the day and times not just during the promotional periods and im not flat betting the max like an AP hustler does but betting all over the place.

its a base pay of 99.43 plus 40c cashback on every $100 bet and with the multipliers that could add an additional 4%. and most hustlers dont even play it properly because theyve never learned how to count the cards and only know how to play basic strategy. which means when the count gets to plus 10, theyre still hitting 12vs3 and hitting 16v10. so i get better results over the long run, theoretically at least but they do have better rolls to withstand variance.

the count isnt only used when deciding how much to bet, a big part of it is varying how u play certain hands differentiating from basic strategy. but knowing all these numbers is too much for most people. and one thing people forget about is 2% isnt always bringing 99.4 up to 101.4. when the count is negative 10, its only bringing 97.6 up to 99.6 so u damn sure shouldnt be flat betting max bet a spot then. and im talking about the running count, not the true count, so its happening more than u would think. every extra minus 1 in the running count reduces your odds by 0.16 so minus 10 running count reduces the odds by 1.6%. but so does a plus running count of 10 increase the odds by 1.6%. and this is why, when NO promotions are going on once the running count hits plus 2 (not the true count, but the running count) its now paying 99.43 plus 0.32 plus 0.40 which brings it to over 100% much of the time. and with the min bet only being $1 instead of $5 u can bet next to nothing when the count is poor. the only problem is the slow speed of the machine severely limiting the number of hands per hour during promotions.

im sure a very well bankrolled player could make over $500 an hour if playing multiple spots or much higher per hour but ill be relieved if i even clear $50 per hour since i cant risk going thru a few thousand dollars swings every 10 hands or so. i dont think the rubber band crowd will show up if i keep my mouth shut and only 1 other person knows about this machine to my knowledge. i think he can be trusted to not publicize this fact too.

i still have $4 on igniton also i had $14 on there but i wanted to play some poker, and i ended up losing my $10 double or nothing sng.

glad my tooth is no longer bothering me, its still needing fixed and eventually once this opportunity is gone ill go to rays house, but i think the nerve is now dead. and one chiquita might be surprised to know ive still got one unread book in my suitcase.

i sure wish i could find at least one good blackjack player in this area to sit at the tables with me and help me figure out why im losing.

One game i never played hardly ever and dont care much for is bonus deuces wild instead of the regular version of deuces wild. (full pay which u wont find and not so ugly deuces which pays 4-1 for a boat isntead of 3-1). but just like jacks or better isnt an option on a lot of video poker machines and ONLY bonus games are options deuces wild wasnt an option, and having just left the Monarch down an additional $1200 in blackjack on top of all the other losses this week, i wanted somewhere i could be alone, and sit and martingale my bets. so my first bet was 10c one credit one line and id eventually reached a bet of $43 when i got lucky enough to be dealt a monster hand on the bottom.

22AAA which ended up paying me $3440. so now im at the most again since coming to colorado, with a new roll of $18,800. plus my room is free again for friday, but saturday is sold out and ill be getting ready to play omaha at 10 this morning.

i dont understand why i keep losing so much at BJ when ive never bet more than the minimum $5 or $10 every time the count is either even or negative. seems every time it goes to plus 6 to make the true count plus 1 plus 2 or even higher, i lose with heavy sized bets on 3 spots or 2 spots..

at the monarch tonight, i got lucky enough to finally be the ONLY remaining player and it was plus 6 and about 2 decks left. and they were about to close the table, and id had to move to the 1 other bj shoe game with too many people. they needed to send a dealer home is why.

so i did what im not supposed to do and over bet the bankroll by playing 6 spots of $100 each to try and get even for the night. and so many little cards came out on every hand the count went from plus 6 to plus 14. and the dealer got the only goddamned 10. so i knew i was fucked, and the count being so high i had to stand on my 14, 15 and 16 and it sure wouldve been nice if i couldve surrendered but they dont offer it.

of course, the dealer turns over 20 how could he not with this high of count? that ended the shoe and i left. theyre no longer dealing 90% of the deck to me im getting about 75% only. so the penetration is pretty poor now compared to the lodge where i sometimes still get 90%

for the first week of June, im up over $4000 at poker, and ive won over $25,000 at poker so far this year and its not quite been 6 full months yet, so maybe i can hit my first 50k plus year ever. my winrate for about 1100 hours is at $23 per hour for the whole year.

i just wish i could find out why i keep losing at blackjack or else just not play it, but i know ive got a big edge since i keep getting the money in with the best of it. the only thing that makes sense is im losing only because my roll is too small to handle such big bets and variance. also i need to make sure i stick to games where they deal out more than 75% of the shoe too.

whats weird is in all this time ive never met one Blackjack player here who seemed to be counting and was good at it. i do watch for it.

i got a ban at one casino here because i think they either didnt like what i said to the cage person or about the waitress, not sure which, all i know is i was told the next day id been banned but i have to call a higher up boss to get more details they didnt know. and i think ill leave town soon, but overall ive been pretty good to the staff and the dealers in the poker rooms here. not one person has ever brought up or mentioned the blog though some might know of it. but thats not mainly why im leaving soon, its because i dont understand why im not winning when i play BJ. i usually always won at the golden gate in las vegas playing bj the exact same way i play here, except for the $100 cap.

funny thing is the golden gate and hoover dam seemed to be the only places id win at BJ. i sure didnt win in reno.
