i won a lot more than usual this month (and since i dont keep track, the ONLY way i know im up somewhere from 6-7k in the last 5 weeks at poker in Houston is because i have $6300 more in cash than when i arrived in houston). and i spent about $400-500 more in cash on food at the grocery store. everything else i paid for (ubers, housing, etc) was with a debit card. so only the increase in cash on hand is the poker profit. i had less than 2k in cash and now have over 8k in cash so i need to deposit a little in the bank.
i am wondering if not focusing on updating the blog (and focusing only on winning money-i havent paid for a massage the whole 5 weeks ive been here, when in the past, ive paid for one about 15 times in 5 weeks). nothing in life matters more than money does. You can get thru life without family, friends, love, health, but u cannot get thru life without money. for without money u have to sleep outdoors every night instead of indoors. and considering my life ages 17-22, theres nothing in life more terrifying thats worse than sleeping outdoors.
I've pretty much ruined and wasted my whole life because i didnt always put money first over everything else. i remember how broke i was throughout my 20s and 30s because everything i won, i wasted it on hookers and giving money to people like Britni and Lorna and i dont know if wec or Vook still read this blog, but if so they are likely the only ones who would not only remember that, but actually realize it was true. for today, no one would ever think id give a woman a dime. i couldve easily had half a million saved up from poker by age 50 with my skill level
that and of course blackjack and video poker. those games hurt me terribly over the years. i always did far worse that expected ev from counting cards because i would keep lowering the bet on good plus counts to hide the fact i was counting and betting big on counts i shouldnt have just because i was down.
a lot of societys problems with homelessness can be traced to 2 reasons. one landlords wont rent to good tenants with plenty of cash in their bank accounts who dont need to work because they have so much cash, but instead of being able to easily have plenty of money to afford to pay, theyd rather have a guy living paycheck to paycheck always broke who has credit cards he can borrow from to pay rent.
so we end up paying twice as much on airbnb and hotels and often would like to shoot someone every time they ask us why we cant get an apartment because we are so sick of hearing it.
and reason 2 we dont have nearly enough mental institutions taking inpatients. the law made them all go to outpatients unless u threaten to kill yourself or others. they could get 1 million off the streets overnite and make life much safer for people who would like to ride a bus to save money on Uber.
when i was homeless under age 21, i tried to get myself committed to them so i wouldnt be homeless and they wouldnt let me stay because i wasnt suicidal. so at times i pretended to be, like when i walked outside the window on the ledge of the roof at a hospital in toledo ohio. i met my sons mother in a mental institution and was her boyfriend for over 3 years.
or when hitchhiking and would get naked so the police would come and pick me up. i wouldve had a vastly different life (and wouldve been able to get a dealing job and make 500 a nite and never worry about money) had i not gotten a felony because of my autism. i never thought the police would think it was serious enough to charge me.
now the only way ill ever be much better off financially (since im too old and it would take another 25 yrs to earn it at poker and save it up) will be if i can ever find an attorney willing to sue the police in vegas for a civil rights violation and a false arrest im sure the case could easily be won if an attorney would take it.
one of the things i hate the most about Houston is they do the button straddle the wrong way, and i hate acting first in the small blind. u would think the game would be unbeatable because its very difficult play against, yet im winning far easier than i would be in vegas. Its really a shame i cant learn from Bart Hanson (Gus Hansons brother), because he did have a good podcast on bomb pot strategy (and now all the all bomb pot games are way too tight and too high a rake) and even the 1 bomb pot every half hour games the bomb pots arent nearly as beatable as when they were new.
i am often in situations with hands like KJ and in the BB and theres a $5 button straddle and its my $2 in the BB. in a regular game reno or vegas style i could easily know what to do once i see what the rest of the table does. but in a bomb pot game i keep having to fold because its not worth the risk of someone raising behind me out of position and for me to raise out of position and have a bloated pot id have to bluff to the river with K high no pair would be really quick way to go bust.
also i hate people who raise in the BB or SB, this is incredibly stupid unless u are so short u have good equity getting allin preflop with hands like JJ or better.
so many times im on the button with hands like A3 suited and i sure cant fold with such great pot odds but then i end up having to fold anyway preflop after a sizeable raise in the blinds.
or like today, (although i did win over $385 between 2 different rooms) when i would be trying to see a flop in sb with AJ and i put the extra $1 in with great pot odds and i had too many chips to try to go allin.
guy raises to $15 and a guy calls, and i sure didnt want to call $15 just to fold on the flop and felt he was raising really light so i shoved the $55. he calls and we run it twice so my read was right he is weak. he has KQ. and i lost twice. this room has a policy when u run it twice u cannot do 2 boards its flop twice twice and i hate this too.
he has absolutely no business raising KQ off in the BB. do u know how many hundreds of times ive folded that preflop this week just because im in too early a position for $2
i guess maybe everyones horrible play is why im winning or am i just running above average? i doubt im playing different than when i lost 3k in 10 days right before i left houston for good 2 yrs ago.
