in case anyone has ever wondered why I (and probably others too) dont want housekeeping in the room til after you check out here is why.
I was using my free rooms, which i normally use on weekends at the casino in sparks. (ive been in reno 6-7 weeks and once paid for a room once, over 2 nights during the air show a few weeks back). i always tell the staff unless i forget at every host office when i check in that i dont want housekeeping.
Not only did housekeeping come into the room, they didnt even throw out the empty food trash. instead they picked it up off the floor and set it neatly on the desk. but the main thing that always irritates me is they open the curtains, (which i immediately have to reshut the minute i enter the room) and much worse, shut the lights off. i have a terrible fear of my safety walking into a pitch dark room, and its very emotionally hard and stressful on me. when the maid shuts off the lights in a room, thats like a violent physical assualt on the guest and could cause him to have a heart attack and panic and end up in a hospital.
and then u have to unmake the bed all over again and set your laptop back up on it. and even worse, the $3-6 in loose junk change on the bathroom counter they must of assumed it was a tip for the maid because it was missing.
and another little thing that bugs me in many casinos. they set out free water bottles in the rooms, but wouldnt it make a lot more sense to set them in the refridgerators in the rooms so theyd get cold?
and even worse is the fact in most casinos u have to put your key in the elevator before u press your floor. not only is this a horrible pain if u have a lot of food in your hand like ice cream u are carrying to the room to eat, it does the exact opposite of making people safer. to feel safe in the elevator (which is where most casino robberies occur (there and the bathroom) u need to be completely alone in the elevator. and when u waste time messing with getting the key inserted to work, it always gives someone else time to get in the elevator with u who u would much rather not be in that same elevator.
If anyone can relate to any of these fears please let me know.
now the other day i lost over $1000 in Jaimes mix game that id been wanting to go to for a long time.. and i found out its not actually him who holds the game but his friends holding it at the office he is the manager of. a sports gambling service selling picks. Jaime should offer to blow me for all the money i lost if he ever wants me at his game again. he knew i would be the sucker with no experience and wouldnt remember any of the games. by the way the game is rake free and they didnt help a bit. i lost over $500 on my final hand when i forgot i needed a 7 low to qualify instead of an 8 low.
then after i lost, him and JJ were trying to get me to borrow money and buy back in. ill be damned if i owe a bookie or loan shark a dime. i left with Uber. i actually still had money but didnt want to tell anyone that.
i will say one nice thing (and only one) about JJ. he did try to find a massage girl, but no luck.
also some of these poker rooms dont cut people off the alcohol nearly soon enough because they dont want to piss off the people who want to take drunken players money. ive seen it more than once since i arrived. But they could get in trouble over this.
and this was in a live casino, not a home game. a drunk guy who all the staff knew said he had a really bad day he wanted to forget about, so much so he was on the phone with his mom who was really worried about him and he kept telling her he was ok and heading to his room soon. i wouldve never said this to the player at the table but i was worried he was planning to blow everything then go kill himself.
his mom seemed scared to death that he was NOT ok and i was curious what bad thing had happened to him. he rebought in about 12 times 100-300 each and just totally threw the money away which he wouldnt normally do. one hand he called $100 then he still had about $150 behind and immediately after calling he turned up 57 offsuit face up when the hand was still on the flop. actually he did this later again too.
and ive seen dealers off duty be way too drunk too.
and when he finally was busted for good he kept sitting there with his debit card, not understanding why he couldnt buy in with it and i was wondering why it took the pit boss so long to get him off the table so the long wait list could sit in his seat. he was also trying to rebuy in for his last $6 and said he couldnt understand why no one cared that he wanted to play and couldnt be dealt cards. so he was just sitting there for like 15 minutes without cards.
at least this time my room has a fridge, supposedly all their rooms do but last week the fridge was missing out of the room and im sure no one even knew it was missing.
since coming to reno ive probably thrown away over 5k on machines and this is why i keep trying to avoid playing at the Peppermill because its the big split machine in the high limit room that tempts me the most. but i am still a few k better off than when i left Houston. i also notice bitcoin went way up back over 30k, no idea why.
