the road to $20k

sorry this blogs never updated, but i dont really know what to talk about anymore. nothing exciting happens in my life, but maybe thats better as it might mean a life with less stress.

i did enjoy playing poker last night with Chris and Nick (Chris for the 2nd time this week) and i will probably leave vegas or go home for a while once i have to start paying for rooms with cash instead of with points or comp dollars everywhere.

and i keep getting so close to 20k. at one time had 19,800 then dropped to 18,300 and now im back to 19,500. would still like to play a bit higher once i hit 20k. its bound to happen eventually.

won last night too, but none of it from nick or Chris and he won more than i did. i still think games in vegas are better than a few years ago. and thats a very good thing in my opinion.

i dont have enough on Bovada to bring it up to over $20k, i have only $185 there and if i withdraw there before the end of august i might be charged this time.

      Seriously a very impressive run!

  2. Like I told you last night Tony. Don't chase it with crazy play, just let it happen. You will get there.

Exciting things could happen in your life if you could drag your ass away from gambling and do something else constructive for a change. People keep offering to do things with you that do not include gambling, but you keep making excuses why you can't do them.

  3. Isn't going home the same thing as leaving Vegas? Also please get your medical issues/dental issues cleared up.

    1. going home meant visiting family in KS. leaving vegas could just mean going to live around different casinos

    2. You did not respond to the question of medical/dental. Why not?

    3. Tony I would suggest you don't wait for a $99 house call in Reno for a doctor to fully diagnose/treat/perscribe/cure you in a manner that meets your need for need to be taken care of IMMEDIATELY without any inconvenience or waiting on your part. It's only a matter of time before you get past the point of preverbial no return and lose your mobility. If you lose your mobility it's time to start looking for a cheap nursing home...

    4. i guess because unless its an emergency situation, i dont worry too much about it. maybe i should be more worried about my health (this was to Alysia)

    5. The "maybe I should be more worried about my health" response is what I am posting about. Yes, you should.

    6. Dont bother going to the doctor - you will certainly need prescriptions for your scalp and whatever other health concerns they find - you have no insurance and that stuff will take a bit hit to your fragile roll - just keep being lazy and dont go bec you cant afford the meds anyway.

    7. You know that $5000 that you are dying to take to Stealthmunk's PLO game an donate could fix a LOT of your health problems. If you decide to gamble instead of taking care of yourself, I'm going to be done with you and encourage Koala and Lightning to be done with you too! If you can't or don't care about yourself it's a waste of anyone else's time to care about you. You need to make a doctor's appointment and take care of business instead of waiting for an emergency. Ditto for a proper teeth cleaning which should be done at least twice a year. It's great that you ran your roll up but now you have zero excuse.

Make a good life decision. Use your money wisely and for the purpose it was intended. I mean you ask for advice all the time in how to play hands; here's some advice on how to play real life.

  4. won another $80 in the poker game at the nugget, and at one point was up about twice that. deposited a bit more in the bank too. back in the $19,600s.

  5. If I were one of your rich friends Tony I would go to the bank and deposit the 400 myself( anyone can deposit in someone's account). But then again I know you would return it because you have worked way to hard to hit this milestone! And you did it on your own terms living for the Spirit through Jesus Christ... that's the real gift.

    1. i wouldnt call myself a good Christian at all Ray. But i would call u one. anyway i hit $20,075 tonight mostly because i've been lucky lately. time to relax, not take many risks, and spend everything over $20k on health, seeing family maybe, getting housing, needed documents, etc. u see, i really dont ever need a roll over $20k, so anything over that can safely be spend on things ive needed done for years. right now i need to sleep

    2. I not sure how far $75 is going to get you in terms of what you need to do to take care of your self, but good luck with that anyway.

Congratulations of finally getting to the magic $20,000 bankroll after 25 years plus of grinding. A word of advice, you better STFU about your roll now that you are rich. The IRS will now be on your ass for all the years of tax you owe them, not to mention all the phone companies, etc, that you have stiffed over the years.

    3. I hope you keep winning then, cause $75 isn't going to go far toward all that :)

    1. last time WHAT happened? me reaching $20,000 has never happened before. thats not really all that much, when u consider i still have no income. living off $20k in savings isnt something a lot of people would want, but im an excellent money manager that many people have commented on considering how my standard buyin is still only $120. am thinking of finally raising it to $220 though. Remember when it used to be less than $100, and then $100 even?

    2. The massive jump to 15k + (17? )and all the trash talk to all and sundry, and then the massively quick slide down hill. You may not remember it, but I do.
If you can keep making profit at poker then good luck.

  9. I wish Alysia wanted to do something fun, instead of just hanging out at the film festival all day. being in on asking questions etc and the planning of the film seems to me like WORK and A JOB, not relaxation. Dont it seem that way to most of u?

fun is going to a pool (waterslide amusement park) eating a nice meal, watching a movie in a regular theater, playing miniature golf, etc. all her hobbies seem like work, not fun. hanging out on a farm, cleaning a warehouse, hiking, skiing, etc. i dont know why her and Vince dont get married.

ill take care of my health soon as i visit family before too long, its really none of anyone elses business no way. and im certainly not going to waste all my money playing HU with people a lot better at HU than i am, that would be really stupid. But im still a much better player. u see, HU play dont translate well to full ring play, and is pretty much a USELESS skill in live cash games, online its useful but not in the casinos. most good HU experts are complete fish at a full table because they dont know how to adjust

    1. Tony you had me busting up laughing at this one. You and your ghost account John Dough are good for 10 min of enjoyable reading almost every day, and u see I thank u for that.

I just spent the day at Disney Land, riding rides, and playing games. Are you serious that you would think that is fun? Spending over 100 bucks to ride some rides? Also when was the last time you rode a waterslide? I love going to the pool because that is like porn to my Mormon mind, seeing all the girls in bikinis, but I do NOT know what u would like about going to a pool.

      Good Luck MIV

  10. I can't wait to read the blog about when you go back to see Mom and Mark. Been a while probably since you seen Chicago. Remember the days when the river boats were new. You could only bored certain hours and they closed at night ( the ones in Gary Indiana of course outside Chicago).

  11. my one regret is that it took me 46 years to become a successful player with a decent roll. had i done well in my early 20s like many players have, id had probably had a normal girlfriend, marriage, etc and wouldnt have wasted so much of my life. i feel like im doing great now, (i hope my health is still good, ill find out soon) ive got $21,000 never been that rich before, but im so old now no one wants me anymore. too bad this same opportunity didnt exist for me to follow 20 yrs ago when getting started.

    1. It could also be that your standards are too high when it comes to women.

Try hitting on chicks 10 or 20 years older then you who are overweight. You probably have a much better chance with them.

A lot of guys all want to hit on the same hot women who are 20 to 30 years old and no one is hitting on the rest.

      Delete
    2. u do realize im 46, that would mean women close to 60 or older?

anyway, i followed that advice when in my 20s, and my sons mother was 13 yrs older than me, and its why i never had a normal relationship with a young girl 20s to 30 when i was the right age. by the time i knew Britni about that age- i was about 40 and way too old.

    3. Not so good playing at Hard Rock at night because besides the $4 rake you have to pay $2 jackpot drop for just the chance to get $75 for a 4 of a kind or straight flush. Not worth it.

We tried to get them to drop the jackpot rake at night and forgo any bonus but they need to collect that jackpot rake to pay the promotions to the people who playing during the week days.

So the people who play at night kind of get screwed to help pay off the people that play during the day.

  12. So does your pending healthcare require a demand for a $99 housecall that covers all ailments or are you going to accept multiple appointments each with their own waiting time and pay the going rate for each visit?

  13. OMG. tony is complaining that it 46 he's too old to get a woman. Tony I am a year older than you remember in the last four years alone I've probably hopped in more beds than they have at a motel 6. I'm only on disability a little over 800 a month and before that I was a cashier so tell me where it is that money matters when it comes to meeting women, having a girlfriend, and being in a relationship?
